If you ever get a chance to see the play in a big theater, GO! The music! The costumes! The puppetry! Oh, the puppetry! It is just amazing! I had the opportunity to see it in Baltimore's Hippodrome Theater. I will go see it again if it comes back to one of Washington, DC's or Baltimore's theaters!
I've seen it twice in the theatre! First time we had standing areas at the back of the theatre when it first came out in London! I cried. Saw it when it came to Edinburgh, cried again and just cried watching this video, its so very moving. Love it, thank you! x
I don't know what it is about this musical! I took my first to see it in London in 2006 and one started crying at the opening scene and never stopped until the end ~ even during the interval. I wasn't far behind myself and will still cry every time I hear it, thank you John x
My first and only theatre trip was to see The Lion King on a visit to London around 12 years ago. This brought back all the emotion and memories, thank you..........
Oh, thank you for such a joyous start to my day! Tears of happiness are still running down my face. What talent and it's lovely these folks in the Lion King rehearsal obviously appreciate each other's talents, too!
Very moving! That style of African born singing touches me in the place where ancient echoes of the past are stored. I felt it one other time when surrounded by working draft horses and I felt a tug of nostalgia for a time I have never known. Who knew we had those echoes of the past still in our DNA? The tropical fish lady made me laugh out loud.
I went grudgingly to see The Lion King on Broadway when it opened. A gift from a friend which required us to fly from San Diego. But when that opening number began, I shook. SO powerful. And, yes, I did have tears in my eyes. And I didn’t even lose 8 goldfish that week.
Bless you, John, for sharing this. I needed this feeling of hope. It was very moving. I lost my beloved 92 year old mother-in-law last week and feel particularly raw right now. Thank you.
WOW. OK eve though my friend Sam is in lion King (Musafa) I've not taken any notice of it because DISNEY, but I just realised this is for fans of Ladymith Black Mambazo, not of Snow White. Cor. Also, Dinner Ladies, the BEST. <3

Yes, you can feel the power in that rehearsal...

ReplyDeleteWow, I loved seeing that Lion King, more moving than the stage performance. So much emotion form the singers! Heartening.
