Chilli Scotch Eggs to die for

My obsession  love affair with scotch eggs is now the thing of legend.
Just recently a I ❤️ scotch Eggs T shift was delivered to Bwthyn Y Llan and before that a gift of two, were left on the kitchen wall, wrapped in silver foil and an Aldi Carrier bag.
Tonight I was left a trio of bespoke chilli Scotch Eggs, a gift from the a hospice head housekeeper whose husband works as a Butcher in nearby Conwy.
Suffice to say my diet went out of the window
The butchers they came from is Edward’s Of Conwy
And it must be said their chilli scotch egg is a thing of sublime beauty
I ate my first without taking my clinical mask off, which is not an easy procedure in anyone’s books…and the second I savoured more slowly….like a Frenchman may do over six oysters and a glass of champagne
Two minutes later, I was finished

The third I shared with some colleagues.
As I didn’t want to appear as greedy.
I am set up for the night now, and as I was placing my patient on his ventilation system he gave me a questioning look ….which obviously meant you, reek of chilli and sausage meat!

  5. Scotch eggs - the food of the gods and godesses :-)

Have you tried the haggis ones?

I remember my mother making boiled eggs wrapped in cheese pastry then baked - they were just as good I seem to remember, must re-visit that! Wonder what they were called?

  6. Some day I’ll have to try a Scotch egg. I had never heard of them until the first time I found you waxing poetic. They look so unappealing to me, but I have a feeling I’d fall in love.

    1. There must be a shop here in Fuengirola to cater to the taste. I’ll be on the lookout.

    3. MwM - have a go at making them - you just need eggs, sausages, breadcrumbs and Youtube.

Ha! You don’t know me very well. I consider turning on the kettle “cooking.” I do the washing up.

    5. Ah right, ok then. A quick Google from Scotland tells me you could try the Dog With Two Heads pub in Fuengirola. :) :)

  8. I might have to call the local pub and get an order to go... mind you, there's no 'chili scotch eggs' but a regular scotch egg could suffice. Glad your treat was so delicious and appreciated!

  9. Or was it the breadcrumbs dangling from your mask?

  10. Not for me I'm afraid, vegetarian for 40 odd years, now becoming vegan. But if they hit the spot for you, good on you. A little veer off the diet every now and then isn't too bad. xx

Oh, lucky you to have been such a wonderful nurse that you were given those sublime chili Scotch eggs! How kind of you to have shared egg #3, too.
I've been doing some machine quilting today and am pleased with the look of it.

    Hugs!

  13. I had to look up scotch eggs. They look interesting and very rich to eat. I don't know what my family would think if I cooked a batch one morning. We shall see.

  14. I'm looking forward to having Scotch Eggs again this winter. They seem to have developed a lot since I was last in the UK. Black pudding Scotch Eggs, Haggis Scotch Eggs, etc. There seems no end to the new varieties.

  15. I'm waiting for Vegan Scotch Eggs to come out, which is surely only a matter of time - though how could they manage the egg part? We already have Vegan, ham, bacon, even pepperoni, all of which I like a lot. Even in my pre-vegetarian childhood years I never tried an original Scotch Egg and, of course, would never do it now. But if they ever did create a vegan [or near-vegan] one I most definitely would.

    3. I've just had a look on the Internet myself, Happy H. [Why I didn't do it before, I don't know]. Yes, there's quite a fair bit available though I won't be following up any of the recipes as cook I am NOT! Pity there's no Sainsbury around where I live as theirs do look especially appetising. But several others are available through home delivery so I'll investigate, though unfortunately I only have a tiny fridge and tiny freezer. But thanks for the 'pointer' anyway.

  16. I'm not a fan of hard-boiled eggs, so doubt I would like Scotch eggs (which, like Mitchell, I never heard of before reading this blog), but nevertheless get a kick out of reading you rave about them. Enjoy!

  17. When scotch eggs are chilli you can always warm them up in a microwave.

  20. Haven't had a scotch egg for years...if I remember rightly a faff to make. But I enjoy hearing you wax lyrical about scoffing them. A scotch egg or two won't derail the diet; especially the amount of weight you have lost. Well done xx
