Finally it’s almost time to live a little. On Friday I’m off to London to see Nu. We have theatre, cinema, meals out, Kew Gardens and lots of gossip to catch up on.
I’m staying two nights with her, then on Sunday I’m catching up with my friend John from Sitges before returning home on Monday. I’ve booked myself into a lovely hotel right in the centre of Covent Garden on Sunday night ...The Z Hotel is rather bijou and is tucked away behind St Paul’s Church, which couldn’t be any better and at 45£ a night . I’m laughing.
Have fun, stay up late, sleep later, gossip, laugh!!!

ReplyDeleteI can't believe your £45 room !!! Over here, prices have soared since Civid closed our borders - £100 a night is about the lowest you can hope for!
What a fabulous trip you have planned! I sincerely hope you enjoy it to the absolute max.... you're finally getting to see Nu in person again... how very very exciting for you both. Have a blast!
ReplyDeleteJo in Auckland
45-quid a night for Covent Garden of all places! [where I worked briefly in 1991]. I'd call that 'Value' with a capital 'WOW!'. Have FFFFF-U-N!

ReplyDeleteHave the best of times! Bijou, huh? We have friends who sold their large house in London and bought a "bijou apartment." That's what SHE said. He whispered to me: "It's a small flat."

DeleteI hope it is as much fun as you hope it is. Right next to the comment box here is the photo of you and Nu. £45 sounds very cheap and bijou a little scary. I've just taken a look at the hotel and looks good, although I know very well what compact means.
ReplyDeleteI’ve stayed there before
DeleteYou sound a bit negative Andrew
DeleteYou deserve some fun.
ReplyDelete£45 a night? You can't get a B&B here for that.
ReplyDeleteI've just looked up Z hotels. They're everywhere. We even have one in Bath. Good idea.
DeleteZ Hotels was started by an employee of Thistle Hotels who suggested the idea to them and they turned it down so he left and decided to go it alone and find some backers. He persuaded some Premier League footballers to put up the money for him with a guaranteed pay back time and that it is how it started. It is very successful and expanding.
DeleteWhen I used them pre lockdown the Covent Garden room was 90
DeletePerfick xx
ReplyDelete£45 a night in London! Good heavens lad, that's incredible! are you sure it does not involve getting in a time machine and going back to the 1960's?
ReplyDeleteYP-I think he will be bunking up with a young man x
DeleteI misread "tucked away".
DeleteSounds fun. Take advantage of the deals now, they are going to quickly disappear.
ReplyDeletewow...have lots of fun! say hi to Nu from all of us!
ReplyDeleteCrikey that hotel is a bargain. Have you stayed there before?

ReplyDeleteEnjoy your time with Nu and your friend. You have lots to look forward too!
ReplyDeleteSo glad that you are getting away! Have fun, John!
ReplyDelete£45 a night? A youth hostel would cost you more in London!
ReplyDeleteLive, love and laugh with Nu; come home refreshed and feeling more 'normal' - we could all do with that!
You deserve a lovely week end away - and a meet up with Nu will do you a power of good.
