A Birthday and a Tattoo !!!!!!

It’s my sister Ann’s birthday tomorrow .
The family met up today for a long lunch in her garden which was lovely
Both my sisters have a talent for gardening.
We shared our respective news over baby lamb chops
I didn’t tell them about the tattoo.

Oh, I haven’t told you lot either have I ?
Well I’m having a tattoo….
You can blame Gorgeous Dave if you like, for after a night out with him, during which he shared with me his recent booking for his tattoo, I hatched my plan to have one myself.
And all in a good cause
I will be having a tattoo in a fund raiser for my hospice.
I will publish details of how to sponsor me ( if anyone is interested) at a later date
But I will leave you with an illustration of what the tattoo will look like
Yes it’s classy and very small…it’s one of the Llandudno goats..an emblem that saved the hospice this year

Yes, it’s of one of the famous Llandudno goats

Where on your body will you have the tattoo? - Mary

  3. I would never have a tattoo myself but you can do what you want with your own body. At least your tattoo will be small and discreet and with it you will be showing your faith in and support for the hospice. When you get lost when you are older, the police might say, "Has he got any distinguishing marks?" and your sisters will say, "Yes, he has a small goat on his upper right arm!"

  4. What a great fundraising idea! And yes, go for it -- I got my first tattoo at 57, so you're never too old! But you know what they say -- you can't stop at just one! Now I have two.

  5. Well done you! I have the delicate outline of a dolphin on my shoulder, I was in my sixties when I had it done and never regretted it. Now in my seventies I am considering a scallop shell, the pilgrim symbol, having done several long-distance pilgrimages in Spain.

  7. I was going to say I'd sponsor you to NOT have it, but, it is your body, so (eyeroll) go for it. I agree, it's small, discrete, classy... but I can't say I approve of them. Confession time - my son has a huge tattoo over his right upper are and shoulder, and more on his lower legs. They're Maori-ish designs, which is, in my opinion cultural misappropriation as there is absolutely not one drop of Maori blood in him. However, in MY defence, he was tattooed long after he married, and as I said at the time it didn't happen on my watch!

  9. I think it is great you are getting one. And I like the idea of the goat. I have one on my upper right arm myself. I did it two years ago on a dare from my daughter.

  10. Perhaps you should get it on your butt. Would that count for the fundraiser?

I've never had a tattoo but DS1 and DIL both have several tattoos.
During my career as a nurse, I have seen many, many tattoos and will say it's best to have them in areas unaffected by weight gain or loss! What say you, John?

    Hugs!

  15. I have also entertained the idea but have so far resisted the urge. I suspect nowadays my most apt image would just be the letters: RIP.

  18. Brilliant, well done ... and for such a good cause too. I have two tattoos, the first is nicknamed Freddy Freedom and was done when my divorce was finalized, he's a gecko on my upper left arm 😃

  19. I've never liked them, and would never consider one, but your body, your decision. I applaud the sentiment of the goat though. xx

  20. I noticed on your previous post that you were wearing a nice clean new looking golf shirt with the tiny goat logo.

  21. Brilliant John, I had one at the venerable age of mid~sixties to celebrate my divorce!! I have never regretted it (the tattoo that is) and am musing over the idea of a second one. Excellent choice as well. Ro xx

  22. I don't really like to see people with lots of tattoos, but yours sounds rather sweet, and it won't actually show unless you choose to! Happy to send a small donation to the cause when you give details. Hope it doesn't hurt too much!

  23. What a great tattoo! Can’t wait to see it. I’ve always wanted a tattoo but can never lock in on what and I know I would change my mind the day after it was done. THIS is a wonderful idea.

  29. If you are only doing it for raising money for the hospice I would think of another way of raising of the money, something else we could sponsor you for.

    4. Yes , me and GD discussed it at length, we’ve been acting like schoolboys about the whole idea which has been fun in itself
I’ve also felt a bit anarchic about the whole process . Lol as if

  33. I had such a shock one morning several years ago-I was walking with my dogs and spotted a small tent and as we passed a man crawled out and said "morning"-his whole face was tattoed as a big fierce cat-I was terrified and said something like-lovely morning and hurried by as a lady followed him out with a similar tattoo cat face x

  34. One can never have too many tattoos. That is my motto.

  35. Way too many years ago, I opted for permanent make-up and got my eyebrows done! Of course, they have faded so much, I have to fill them in now. They are tattoos and the only ones I have!
Curious ... will the goat be white and filled in so it will show up nicely? I think it's cute!

  38. I’ve had thoughts of having DNR tattooed on my chest for ‘do not resuscitate’. It reflects my stage of life.

    ReplyDelete
  39. My first thought was that you would put the goat on your chest where he stands on the shirt. But, then few would ever see it. I think it's a great design choice!

  40. I saw it on your chest a post or two ago. :)

  42. I wouldn't have one done simply because I'd want to change the design all the time. Low boredom threshold! Gave son money in lieu of a Christmas present last year towards his second one he's had done. He's already talking about the next one..... Arilx
