Heaven Knows

I had my first ordinary flu jab yesterday evening and had a surprising reaction to it ( I had never had one previously)
Last night I felt rather poorly, lots of aches and pains and a banging headache.
I had a lie in, took paracetamol and am feeling more human today.
John Huston’s  Heaven Knows Mr Allison is playing on TCM with Mr Mitchum at his sexy masculine best

  1. Sorry you were feeling poorly after the flu jab, John. Perhaps the covid jab has got your immune system all revved up. I really like that film - Kerr is one of my favorites. Take care.

  2. Headaches are awful-I gets lots and it effects my coordination-when they are bad I keep placing a hot flannel on my forehead-Luverly Robert Mitchum and if you grew your hair at the front a bit you could possibly be a lookalikie John x

A terrific and seriously underrated actor was Mitchum. You take care of yourself! Honey, fresh lemon juice and not lemon, with or without a got of something alcoholic. Nothing better or more comforting. And relax......

  4. Two jabs (covid then flu) close together could have caused your reaction. A friend was recently told to distance jabs by 2-4 weeks. These times are "learn as you go" times. Mitchum is a handsome chap. Show the pic to your stylist and you are good to go.

    1. At work we've been told the flu and covid jab have to be a month a part minimum.

  7. I normally get a slightly sore arm but this year it was really bad. A huge red mark, about 6”, formed within the first day and lasted for a week.

  8. Mitchum was a colorful man, I recently watch the Wouk 'War and...' series again. I found, to my delight, there is the sequel to the 'Winds of' series, 'War and Remembrance'. I felt it was good overall, and Houseman as Jastrow was excellent.

  9. At least you have some leftovers, so won't need to cook. Should have got that extra burger, too...! x

    1. I was thinking that maybe most folks do order enough to have leftovers to have enough for another meal.
Anyway , I would have. It looks yummy.
      Mr. Mitchum was a hunk.
You know some men just have that thing that makes them irresistible. The looks , the way they carry themselves, swagger, confidence, flirt. ;)

  11. I had a shingles shot in one arm and a flu shot in the other arm. That night I got a rash and itchy throat. Benydril relieved my symptoms, but Now I’m told that I shouldn’t get the second shingles shot and to be wary when I get a flu shot. Such bother.

  12. Mitchum looks very handsome in that picture! I will have to rewatch that movie.
    Hope you feel okay today!

Slight resemblance to Robert Mitchum I detect but don;t let it go to your head.

  15. How odd. I've never had a reaction to a flu shot, thankfully. But as you've pointed out, there's a first time for everything!

  16. It's odd how many different reactions people have to these vaccines. But a reaction is good.

  17. I was similar when i had mine this time. Have you had your Covid jab? We've had them offered at work now

I always take aspirin a couple of hours before a flu jab, and another dose at the appropriate time after the jab. That generally prevents the flu jab miseries for me. Hope you feel back to normal soon.
Oh, yes, Robert Mitchum. As well as his good looks, his voice was deep and marvelous, too.

    Hugs!

      So true!
One thing really nice about being petite, is that even men who aren't so tall are nice to hug (and be hugged by) as they're taller than I am!

      Hugs!

  20. My mom had her first jab and like you had a flu=ey type reaction having never had an adverse reaction with normal flu jabs. It took her about two days to feel right again. Hope the second jab doesnt do the same thing.

  23. We hear a great deal about flu vaccines in the fall...hardly ever in february. I wonder if your flu season is different than ours.

  24. I was the same with my flu jab this time around, I had swelling, very sore and I could hardly move my arm for a week. Thankfully it was the only time I have had a reaction. Hope you feel better soon

  25. Your reaction might have been because you're "under the weather". Whatever caused it, I hope you're feeling better now. Better the jab than getting the flu, though. xx

  26. I have my first ever flu jab in a couple of weeks time. Booked it for a Friday when I'm not working so that I've got the weekend to rest if I get a reaction to it. Arilx

  28. I always get my flu shot, it usually gives me a headache and a bit of nausea, but that goes away by the next day. I want to get A Covid 19 vaccination but here in the USA we just now for a couple of weeks have someone who is making an effort to get things organized. I've heard of instances of people waiting in line for 7 hours to get the injection. I am not up to all of that physically right now. I will be registering soon so I can get it when they have our act together as far as the actual injection and who will do it, and if we will have enough vaccine.

Heaven Knows Mr.Allison is one of my favorite movies ever. When I was a teenager I thought it was the sexiest thing ever with them hiding and sleeping in the cave for days on end, just a few inches apart. Kerr's character, and Mr Allison had more self control than any people I can imagine.

  29. Mmm. The hotel I work at has pictures of many celebrities that have stayed there over the decades in the hallways - I will have to see if he is one of them. My favorite is the one I walk past several times a day of Gregory Peck, hung at eye level for me, looking cheeky and ready to get into all sorts of fun trouble. Lord that man was sexy too.
