How beautiful. I envy you. The Maori built with wood and non-permanent materials, so there's nothing in New Zealand older than 1840s, and most of the early building by the European settlers was wood as well, so of course it rotted, burnt down or was modified.
What a glorious castle to have in your neighborhood. Things in Virginia go back a maximum of 400 years but I do have a newspaper found at my Grandma Hall's home that is dated 1789 and has an article about George Washington's inauguration! Wishing you well as you return to work tomorrow. I always found that work drastically cuts into your free time. :)
So Beautiful how lucky are you. On one of my trips around the UK I had the best Map ever and I made my x drive to every castle I could find near where we were driving! xx
Fantastic castle... wish I had visited. Corfe castle although a ruin is one of my favourites as it features in a book I read once .... I think... "My Lady of Hay" (SP)
Fabulous location notwithstanding, must say I'm rather surprised that such a national hero and icon as Sir Mo would consent to getting involved in anything as tawdry as this show. Still, that's only my opinion and he doubtless has his reasons. Only hope he can come out of it with head still held high, not having made a fool of himself.
You should drive up there with a bucket of dog turds for one of those "bushtucker trials". It would make a nice change from chomping on precious small creatures and kangaroo testicles. Ant and Dec should test them out first.
Haha ... it needs a LOT of fixing up, perhaps the money they are getting from having the show there will help the trust to do just that. After all it will be a popular visitor destination again after the show finishes.
I have only every watched the first couple of series of this. I really went off it when they started making the bush tucker trials so gory ... and the 'stars' so unknown to me.
I do hope they don't eat too many of our little Welsh critters ... or their body parts!!
Hi would you mind sharing which blog platform you're using? I'm going to start my own blog soon but I'm having a tough time choosing between BlogEngine/Wordpress/B2evolution and Drupal. The reason I ask is because your layout seems different then most blogs and I'm looking for something completely unique. P.S My apologies for getting off-topic but I had to ask!
Just what Wales needs. An influx of "celebrities" and their groupies.
ReplyDeleteFFS
How stunning...think of the parties you could have there!

ReplyDeleteNever saw the show but sounds like it would be fun to have nearby.
ReplyDeleteWhat a site to see every day.

I don't know that show but I love the castle!
ReplyDeleteI'm afraid I can't get excited about the show, but the location is superb!
ReplyDeleteI didn't know it was still on the air. See if you can do a cameo, John.
ReplyDeleteYou could throw treats over the ramparts.

ReplyDeleteJo in Auckland
What a magnificent structure. The stone house at the end of my street is the only unusual structure near me but its only from a century or so ago.

ReplyDeleteYou could be the surprise celeb who goes in half way through.

ReplyDeleteNice design, but looks like it needs a little fixing up.

How lucky you are to live where you do!
ReplyDeleteTake care passing the place that they don't rush your car and grab another celebrity for their show.
ReplyDeleteYou are lucky. that is really spectacular!
