No internet still today, but I don’t care
The sun is out and for the first time in 14 days the cottage has burst back into colour
I will leave with you with a few photographs of home transformed by light,
An easy post with not much prose.
I will leave you this beautiful piece of art
Man Putting On A Shirt By John Koch
Can only imagine how pleased you were to look in on your sunny sitting room today. Glad you've had some sunshine.
ReplyDeleteI did..the dog walker had already been booked so I took the opportunity to meet a friend for a walk in a local animal sanctuary
DeleteWOOF (last pix)! I see doggies on the chairs and a home full of love and comfort.
ReplyDeleteIt’s a beautiful painting isn’t it
DeleteI certainly would not kick him outta MY bed!
DeleteLots of eggs, gorgeous fireplace, silly things , fab pottery/ China and eye candy !!!! I’m waiting in the car for my husband to have a routine blood test !!! Have a colourful day John. XXXX

DeleteI am astounded that after a whole essay bad mouthing me and with specific and rather nasty references to my private life on Yorkshire puddings blog ( after I merely asked you not to refer to other bloggers in a degrogatory light) you turn up her like Rebecca of Sunnybrook farm to post comments here, knowing full well that you have been banned to do so
DeleteI don’t understand your motivation . Nor do I understand your mentality
I trust you will understand this repeated request
“ please do not comment here
I do not want your comments,
I do not read them
They are not welcome”
And please do not respond to the previous comment
DeleteYou live a lovely life. Very beautiful. So much taste. And such glorious light! Enjoy the day. Have a lovely weekend, dear.
ReplyDeleteI haven’t had proper sunlight in the cottage for over 2 weeks ..I’ve missed it
DeleteThank you for the pictures. Nice calming effect during these stressful times.
ReplyDeletePatty
An easy blog. My internet is not back on as yet
DeleteEverything is so lovely, I just want to kiss that sleeping bull dog.
ReplyDeleteShe’s love that x
DeleteI love a gallery wall, the thought of bare walls makes me feel quite ill.
ReplyDeleteNot too busy?
Deletei love your cottage. it's perfect. i just posted how i decorated my new shed. i think it's important to surround ourselves with things that make us happy.
ReplyDeleteI will take a look x
DeleteAhhh,sanctuary!
ReplyDeleteWhat a super-snug abode you have, a 'creation' to be proud of and appreciated. And it all looks so cleeeeeean!
ReplyDeleteSo Dottie survived one more night with all those horrible bangs, crackles and WHEEEEES, no doubt it having shredded her delicate nerves a bit further. Down here on the south coast it was the noisiest 5th I've known for some years - and there'll still be those idiots who continue to set them off for a few more evenings yet, which I trust you in your area will not yourself be subject to.
Raymondo
DeleteAt around 5pm at the height of the firework onslaught , we both went to bed for a couple of hours where she climbed under the duvet and slept with me , cocooned from the noise
I knew we could rely on you to provide Dottie with the reassurances and comforting, protective presence she so desperately needed. Thanks for doing that.
DeleteWhat a cozy home. I'm envious.
ReplyDeleteThank you
DeleteThere's colours and colours. Yours are muted.
ReplyDeleteI always think of them now as loud, mind you I am colourblind
DeleteHome Sweet Home! Your home is a lovely expression of you, John, sunshine quite often, colorful, eclectic, interesting, warm, and welcoming.
ReplyDeleteAre you planning to bake or do you keep your eggs on the counter rather than in the refrigerator?
Hugs!
Never EVER keep your eggs in the fridge
DeleteAbout never putting eggs in the fridge ... since our eggs in most US grocery stores have been refrigerated before we buy them, according to safety standards here, the eggs must be kept in the fridge at home. It's been that way my whole long life.
DeleteAre the eggs that you buy at room temperature so you keep them at room temperature at home?
Wondering ...
After an egg is refrigerated, it must be kept at that temperature. "A cold egg left out at room temperature can sweat, facilitating the growth of bacteria that could contaminate the egg," according to the United Egg Producers association. "Refrigerated eggs should not be left out more than two hours."
DeleteEggs in uk are kept at room temperature so can be used longer and safer
I've never seen that art before. I bet the artist was gay!
ReplyDeleteThere is a clear celebration of masculinity in it
DeleteA Hobbit would be competely comfortable here! If you've got to quarantine, it is a lovely place to wait it out.
ReplyDeleteOnly in sunshine lol
DeleteI have seen sunshine lamps for growing plants, I wonder if you could get globes like that for a few lamps, to light the room differently for the gloomy months .
DeleteI absolutely adore the yellow in your sitting room. I really love yellow. so uplifting
ReplyDeleteIt looks lovely in the sun
DeleteYou really do have a lovely little cottage to call home! It's so nice that we can all come to visit on a beautiful sunlit day!!
ReplyDeleteI like show off lol
DeleteA bit of sunshine in our lives makes a huge difference.
ReplyDeleteAmen , I walked with a friend on a sunny promenade today, it was delightful
Deleteyour china is very pretty x
ReplyDeleteIt’s 1930s Burleigh ware
DeleteWhat a gorgeous day, really lifted my spirits with perfect walk on Clee Hill. Your cottage is a lovely blend of traditional and modern; and just being nosy here, but do you really like lemons, or do they have anti CV properties that haven't been publicised?!
ReplyDeleteI drink home bottled water flavoured by lemons everyday
DeleteI also clean with them
Cleaning with lemons sounds better chemicals...do you mix the juice with anything?
DeleteA really good all purpose cleaner is made by soaking Lemon skins (no pith) in vineagar for a few weeks, then dilute some with water in a spray bottle when needed ..been using this for years.
DeleteOh no!
ReplyDeleteI'd be effed without internet because I don't have cable. I stream EVERYTHING.
Love your artwork.
And that last photo? Yum.
XOXO
It’s 6pm and still no internet..I’m on 4G on my phone
DeleteLove the wall of art x
ReplyDeleteI spied Dorothy and Toto on your mantlepiece John-a dog walker passed me and said "it's Toto" but on occasions Knasher x
ReplyDeleteIt’s a postcard from travel xx
DeleteWhat lovely photos. The rich cream of that wall is sumptuous- you get a 10/10 for your decorating. And the old girl looked so comfortable on her chair. You’ve surrounded yourself with beauty and it feels just right. I hope the internet is sorted soon. It must be frustrating having to use your phone. My fingers make all sorts of mistakes, and you should hear my husband swearing when he is texting! His hands are badly affected by arthritis so I accept his frustration.
ReplyDeleteWhat wonderful light, and you are about to be free again.
ReplyDeleteDid you see your postcard .?
DeleteSunlight streaming in bringing colour and illumination. Everything looks better that way.
ReplyDeleteDaylight brings perspective
DeleteI can' remember what first drew me to your blog except for the fact I put it in my designer file, well your blog has proven to be so much more than that through the years, but today I know why it landed in my design file, your cottage is everything a home should be warm and inviting, surrounded by beautiful art and handmade treasures.
ReplyDeleteThat yellow adds a lovely glow to your room. You did well there!
ReplyDeleteYou have a lovely house with a wonderful eclectic mix of stuff.
ReplyDeleteThe dog on the mantle piece, would it look better facing the other way?
I love how you have transformed the cottage to reflect you! It is beautiful!!
ReplyDeleteThe sunlight flowing into your rooms is lovely. Is the internet down throughout your village? Hopefully your provider is working to fix the problem.
ReplyDeleteYour cottage is so lovely! You have added such wonderful personality to it!
ReplyDeleteJohn, your cottage is beautiful and the colours really sing. So very glad you've been able to keep it and make it your own again; you've done a wonderful job.
ReplyDeleteI love all your art and pottery... and the man putting on a shirt. But, it would be just fine if he left it off I think.
ReplyDeleteHis shirt looks a bit on the small side if you ask me, he'll never get it over his head.
ReplyDeleteBy the way what is the name of the paint colour you used, it's lovely.
looks like he has bruised ribs?
ReplyDeleteLove the photos of your home, doesn't a bit of sunshine make a difference to everything around us.
ReplyDeleteOh... and you misspelled “color”. 😊
