This amused me , because I can see myself walking around like this tonight, letting off excess energy
My colleagues and I all feel like this tonight, so we treated ourselves to a Chinese takeaway to have on our breaks.
It’s funny that something so ordinary re lockdown has become a real luxury and something to be enjoyed and savoured post lockdown.
I finish my run of four nights on Sunday morning
The quiet part of the night I have a book to read, a recent gift from Waterstones
surviving Tenko The True Story Of Margot Turner by Penny Starns.
It’s the story of a nurse Arrested by the dreaded Kempeitai during the fall of Singapore during world war 2
Good news to end today too, my friend has been found safe....
Good news about you friend!
ReplyDeleteGotdamn luv her John x
ReplyDeleteVery good news to end on. Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteGood news indeed. Hope the takeaway was good. Enjoy your quiet time.
ReplyDeleteIts a busy shift quelle surprise ...no time for reading
DeleteWonderful news regarding your friend! Hopefully they are in a safe place, as well!
ReplyDeleteGlad your friend is safe!
ReplyDeleteI had relations who were prisoners in Germany, but luckily none who were prisoners of the Japanese. The Japs really were the most evil people. Folk are always (rightly) ready to talk of the German concentration camps, but rarely talk of the Japanese atrocities.
ReplyDeleteGood to hear that your friend is safe; did you discover where he'd been?
So thankful your friend is safe!
ReplyDeleteI am so glad your friend is safe. Thank you for letting us know.
ReplyDeleteGood news John, we all need a bit of good news, especially now. I guess a busy shift passes quicker.
ReplyDeleteI'm elated your friend was found safe and appreciate your letting us know. The news was a ray of light in this troubled world.
ReplyDeleteIt's good to hear you and your coworkers treated yourselves to yummy food as one excellent way to pass a long night at work.
Just Saturday night to go as I imagine since it's just past midnight here, you're probably on your way home. Drive safely. It's a long way to go when you've been up all night.
Hugs!
Glad your friend has been found safe, who a relief for everyone, good news. Sadly one of my relations was captured in Singapore during WW2 and after time in Changi, died on the Burma Railway. I'm sure the book will be an interesting read.
ReplyDeleteBrilliant news about your friend. Busy nights hopefully go quicker.
ReplyDeleteSo very pleased that your friend has been found safe. Joining late so just read that your shift was really busy, it makes the night go faster. I had some good news myself yesterday on the health front so him indoors and I treated ourselves to a Thai takeaway to celebrate. Usually I cook from scratch every night so this was a first for us; for a long time.
ReplyDeleteJo in Auckland
Glad your friend was found and safe and as others have said thank you for letting us know.
ReplyDeleteGlad to read the good news. Everyone must be so relieved. xx
ReplyDeleteSo pleased your friend has turned up safe. A worrying time for all. I hope your final shift passes quickly and quietly and then you can have some well deserved R&R. xx
ReplyDeleteSaw "Bette" in the '80s. He still hadn't taken another Valium.
ReplyDeleteI always took something to read on nights after one particularly quiet night I was forced to read a mills and boon romance .
ReplyDeleteBrilliant news about your friend. You're right, our cv restricted lives have made us all appreciate small pleasures.
ReplyDeleteI had the huge honour of removing some stitches from the hand of said great lady when I was a very junior officer in the QARANC - how I managed it I have no idea as I was s******g myself. She was very gracious and said that I had "done a very good job"! Wow! So relieved your friend has been found.
ReplyDeleteWow
DeleteWow
Wow
I find taking a book always means you won't get to read it, but leave it at home and you'll be sitting round.
ReplyDeleteGlad to hear your friend is safe.
Your book reminds me of a funny story involving a friend of mine. His wife went away back to Edinburgh leaving him home alone for a few days to amuse himself.
ReplyDeleteHis friend lent him a porno tape (when they were tapes) and he settled down one night to watch it. It began promisingly with a load of dirty, sweaty women sitting around in a hut, arguing. This went on for some time until some adverts popped up. His friend had over- recorded an episode of Tenko, deleting the porn.
So pleased your friend has been found safe John.
ReplyDeleteHope your shifts go on OK. Happy to hear the good news about your friend.
ReplyDeleteYAYZ for good news about your friend!
ReplyDeleteExcellent news about the friend.
ReplyDeleteAlso glad your night shifts end tomorrow--at least for a while.
Great video clip!
ReplyDeleteWalk this way, walk that way, enjoy and bring joy. Glad to hear your friend is safe. Sometimes take away is just the thing to brighten the day.
ReplyDeleteGlad your friend is safe and found. Take care John. Sending hugs.
ReplyDeleteThat sounds like an interesting read. Chinese food is always fun! One of my favorite take-out, next to burgers!!
ReplyDeleteI wonder if that book, Tenko, was the basis for the 1980s BBC series of the same name. I couldn't watch it again, grueling, but excellent.
ReplyDeleteEnjoy your book. Is that Charles Pierce? I am not up on my drag history... but that is my guess. Interesting timing and a gas to see. Thanks for sharing. Enjoy!
ReplyDeleteI'm so glad your friend was found safe. I guess by now you are starting, or about to start, your Saturday night shift. Hope it all goes well and you get a chance to enjoy your book. Loved the video clip!
ReplyDeleteGlad your friend has been found. And that Tik-Tok video is a stitch!
