The Face

I went to a local art gallery today
And bought a face mask made from pottery
It was one of eight displayed on one large wall.
and it took me an age to work out which one I wanted
So much so that the friendly blue haired lady on reception ( the one that took my temperature) came over to see if I needed help
He looks the most sad I told her
And she hugged her arms and looked closer
“Waifs and strays”, she said quietly

    2. He?.... She?....It? Whatever, it has an intriguing initial simplicity that seemed to become more expressive the more I looked at it. Then after a while it suddenly didn't look like a face at all. Interesting what the mind can make of things.

  7. There's something unsure about that face, like he woke up in a strange place. I bet his eyes will follow you.

    2. Reminds me of the time I took an unsolicited call about debt. After saying hello the person asked if I had a mortgage and was somewhat taken aback when I responded with my own question ...”do you have a big willy?”....silence, I then explained that I thought this was a conversation where we asked each other personal, inappropriate questions.

I think he looks surprised - and not in a bad or uncomfortable way. Just surprised due to his eye lashes so high, his odd little mustache, and his goatee. You do find the most interesting things!
Do you suppose his facial expression will deter Winnie when she's about to turf the couch cushions into the air?

    Hugs!

  13. I see why it took you so long to choose one. I cannot make those types of decisions. I would have ended up with two. I like this one, though.

  15. I think this is the one thing that you have bought recently that I don't really like. I find masks a bit sinister and even his 'lost and worried' look is not enough to make me like him ... sorry!!

  17. Love the mask. Could we see a photo of the whole wall so it can be seen in context? Can’t believe I am asking someone to take a photo of their wall!

Initially it looked surprised to me...but now looks pensive.
