My kitchen is looking more colourful of late
I noticed this this morning when I made pea and ham soup thickened with butternut squash and flavoured with extra garlic
The octopus dish I treated myself from John Lewis yesterday looks mighty fine and rather cheerful
I’m liking the splashes of colour
Going to the cinema later and have booked another cinema trip tomorrow

DeleteOh gawd .... you and Anne Marie ( and many others ) would hate my home ..... it’s very off white and muted colours but I do have quirky things about the place ! .... and, I honestly love yours and others colourful homes .... I’m just not brave enough to do it ! I have an artist/ potter friend whose house is a riot of colour and it’s fabulous. XXXX

ReplyDeleteYou have achieved a nice mix of color and whimsy in your decor. All your photos show a cozy and very comfortable cottage. The new garden is very lovely too. Ham and pea soup is a favorite. Just thinking about it I can small the aroma as the soup cooks on the stove. Delicious.

ReplyDeleteI treat myself to a hodge-podge of lovely lunch size plates, mismatched but usually having some colors in common, but pleasing to my eye and not expensive.

The octopus dish is lovely! Mismatched china is a great way to go...then it doesn't matter too much if something is broken, and you can choose any lovely thing that takes your eye. The soup recipe sounds great. Maybe (like you don't have enough to do) you could get all your blog followers to send their favourite recipe, and e-publish a cookery book to raise funds for the hospice?

DeleteI love, love, love bold, bright colors. I bought a cobalt blue and white sample paints to test on my exterior house. Blue house with white trim...it will stand out in the neighborhood which is mostly gray, sand, tan, beige colors. The neighborhood blends into the desert sand but I want to stand out like a jewel on desert sand. As soon as the weather cools, I'll be out doing prep work to start painting. I'm excited how the house will look. Right now, I'm the only house with a fire engine red front door. The house has it's original colors of brown and white and we continued painting it the same color for years but that will soon change :-). I planted six palo verde trees, three on either side of the wide driveway to shade the concrete during summer. It has worked wonderfully. The trees produce flowers in spring and we get tons of bees and hummers. I also planted flowering desert plants that bloom and some smell delicious...no wonder birds and bees want to eat it.
