Nothing

I am totally devoid of news
I’m out of stories
I haven’t any films to review
Supernova is out soon with Stanley Tucci and Colin Firth as middle aged husbands facing one partner’s dementia
I’ll pass on that one
The hospice is quiet still and we cannot make work where is there is non.
I’ve downloaded the new COVID app
Apparently it’s active and scanning
Another two nights to go

  6. Would you like a story? Elsie chased a cat up our tree the other day. She actually had three feet on the tree trying to climb up after it. It was a young cat and terrified. We managed to get Elsie in the house (with the bribe of sausages) but the poor cat didn't know how to climb down. I eventually enticed it down with a saucer of tuna. It then just buggered off. xx

  7. Is it unusual to have a quiet period in autumn? One of the Referendum we have to vote on, along with the General Election voting, is a Yes/No to a piece of legislation that's proposed to legalise Euthanasia. The Bill before the House has holes you can drive a truck through and hasn't convinced me. Many Hospice doctors have comet strongly against it. The other is to legalise Cannabis, and that's pretty contentious too. So there's some news for you John.

  8. Same here John, but I am happy with that for both of us xx

We all get to a standstill with nothing much to say John. It's enough that you come on here to say hello and to let us know that things are ticking over okay.
I've thought of you and the work you do over the past couple of weeks, my husband has gone into short term care with a view to it being permanent, not a hospice but a care home. It's upsetting and I miss him very much but it's a good homely home with exceptional care and that's all I can hope for.
Hat's off to the good work that you and all carers do.

  12. Nothing going on is normal for me. We went out to a shop last Saturday in case I'm not able to get out for the rest of the winter - just in case I forgot what shops were! I have a birthday coming up but don't expect anyone to visit this year, and I haven't actually spoken to anyone apart from husband since the beginning of the first lockdown. Quiet life, eh?

  13. Do you know the meaning of Shakespeare's 'Much Ado About Nothing'? In his time, 'something' was slang for male genitalia and 'nothing' was female. Saucy.

  14. Nothing to say? Then trawl your memory. I'm reading Clive James just now: "Rilke used to say that no poet would mind going to gaol, since he would at least have time to explore the treasure house of his memory. In many respects Rilke was a prick."

  15. Be glad for no news. I live in America, where every day is the Apocalypse. PS I thought health care workers were supposed to avoid the 'Q' word (quiet) since that seemed to bring on chaos. Enjoy the peace!

  16. Relax, spend time with the kids (four legged ones) and sleep. It is has been a rough week.

  17. "nothing" is underrated. slow down, breathe, pet the dogs and cat, sit in the garden.

  18. And yet you were able to share a day in the life. I have the Covid app on my phone and have been delighted to see the same message every day: "Without risk contacts.” I just wish I knew how many others were actually using it.

Isn't it nice when occasionally all is calm and peaceful? Take a deep breath, relax, and fret not. We don't need to be entertained on a daily basis.

    Hugs!

  24. What is a covid app?

  25. Dave downloaded that app too. I haven't done it yet, but I suppose I should. I bet that movie will be really good, given the talent, even if somber.

  27. I want no more drama in my life-as Mary J Blige sang-my dogs are quite enough excitement this body can take now.My lovely lily has run amok this week several times and yesterday raced off down a track not usual one and under a stile looking behind her not stopping but checking I was following then turning a deaf ear to my commands. She ran along a road and uphill to another dangerous bend and then stepped into a small path. One young lady stopped her car and tried to help and turned her car to follow lily.I finally grabbed her and hooked her lead on and sat on the ground leaning on a stone wall to recover.I then had to return to the man looking after my others at a nearby cottage who had heard the disturbance I caused x

Perhaps it would be a good idea to keep Lily on her lead especially as you know she's apt to run off. An accident waiting to happen. Sometimes you just have to act more responsibly for the sake of safety not only for your dog but others too.

    5. Yes you are right-lily has been very good returning during the previous 6 years but I think recently she noticed my attention is on the newer dog x
