Last Night Of The Proms

Lovely music, I was listening to it  as I was flouring by bread
but the atmosphere feels rather sad
Especially as a The Royal Albert Hall has had no Government help to survive
I don’t want to be brought down this weekend

I’ve had to turn over

  1. Smart move turning over the TV. I do it all the time when I see programmes advertised about famine and war torn areas of the world. I don't hide my head; I prefer to read about such things but pictures seem to dig into my brain never to be erased and cause me untold distress if I am not feeling strong.

I hope your bread was a smasher, I love sour dough.

    Jo in Auckland.

  2. The Government haven't got a clue how important live music is for people's mental health. Actually, they haven't got a clue about most things...

How lovely to make/bake bread to music!
Have you ever tried the No Knead Bread recipe that my DH often makes? I sent you the recipe almost a year ago. It's not sour dough, but is delicious.
Enjoy yourself tomorrow - and every day.

    Hugs!

  7. Most years I simply don't watch the Last Night as it's by and large always the same - though I'm always tempted just to discover the special 'touch' the solo singer will bring to their appearance in the second half, be it a rainbow cloak or topical flag flourish in a dress or, as Bryn Terfel once did, wearing a rugby shirt. But this year I did watch it right through as it was so, well, 'different'. One can't claim it raised the roof, though of course they didn't try to. Pleasant enough despite being so subdued .

    1. The choice of music was interesting and worked...but I did turn over towards the end

  8. I agree with Raybeard about the Proms but I did watch last night from beginning to end. I found it very poignant and watched a lot of it in tears (as did Lesley Garrett) but tears come easily at 87. I found the music very beautiful and The Lark Ascending was sublime - made moreso by the fact that the soloist had stepped in at the last minute.

  9. I actually thought it was rather beautiful and moving ..... The Royal Albert Hall looks beautiful even when it’s empty but it did have a poignant air about it. Hopefully it will be back to audience participation of rousing singing and flag waving next year John but, in It’s own way, it summed up the mood of what we are dealing with at the moment. XXXX

    1. The choice of music was well done , Sibelius and the Finnish composition was especially moving as was the Lark Ascending

  10. I enjoyed it this year, no distractions, but I was reading as well. I do love our normal last night of the proms, it's is everything British and as it should be.

  11. I know i watched whilst doing my ironing, as someone who played at the proms years ago, it seemed so subdued. The audience makes it, it really does last night it just felt wrong.

  12. I have always wanted to visit the Royal Albert Hall, even a daytime non performance day would be a treat. But alas, I don't think it will happen. It would be tragic if the building was left to crumble.

  17. First, I want to complement this site administrator for creating this platform for us to express our feelings

I frequently get cold sores(which lasts for 5-6 days on my lips and its painful both physically and mentally) .. As a bodybuilder, I basically get outbreak due to the daily pressure and heat in the body.. Recently I stumbled upon my salvation. I found a herbal remedy to cure hsv completely, in just 4weeks ..

I got to know about Dr Utu after seeing a lady's testimony online. I reached the doctor and I ordered for herpes herbal medicine. He sent the herbs to me and I started making use of them. In just 2days, the cold sores are cleared. 4weeks after medication, I went to the hospital for test of cold sores and it was completely NEGATIVE.

By following every prescription, i was able to cure my cold sore in less than 4weeks. 100% natural herbs no after effect.
Note: Please do let others know if this work for you.
    The doctor's email is drutuherbalcure@gmail.com
Note : follow all instructions accordingly..
