A quiet corner by the front door.
The last of the garden roses fill the space with scent of old summers.
Thumb sticks made by a village friend stand guard
Over etchings and needlepoint
And a grumpy old Welsh lady.
And the yellow walls suck in the sun over the wooden heart of
the little desk fresh from being fed beeswax and oil
A lovely restful corner John and beautifully described.

Deleteyellow roses for a yellow room.
ReplyDeleteI think I smell them. The yellow was a wonderful choice!
ReplyDeleteThey are old fashioned and smell sweetly
DeleteI love little corners around our home also - and as you have described here John, they have special stories when displaying mementoes of life.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful roses - and the sweet open heart in the
desk! Just lovely.
The dest it a little art nouveau dest from around 1905

DeleteLovely John. I still have a hazel thumbstick made by an old gentleman in 1979 - I was about 17 at the time and can't recall being enamoured of country walks at that age, but it gets regular outings now. I trust yours go with you on walks with Dorothy and co.
ReplyDeleteI have two both made by the red faced farmer a few years ago, I tend not to use them as I’ve always got two dogs on the go
DeleteBeautiful little corner--a wonderful way to display meaningful things. Why is it called a "thumb stick?"
ReplyDeletethey are designed to put your thumb between the “ y “
DeleteYou have a real knack. The Boy Scout has quite a bit of lovely art work but I just don't have the knack of putting it up in an appealing way.

ReplyDeleteI frequently get cold sores(which lasts for 5-6 days on my lips and its painful both physically and mentally) .. As a bodybuilder, I basically get outbreak due to the daily pressure and heat in the body.. Recently I stumbled upon my salvation. I found a herbal remedy to cure hsv completely, in just 4weeks ..
I got to know about Dr Utu after seeing a lady's testimony online. I reached the doctor and I ordered for herpes herbal medicine. He sent the herbs to me and I started making use of them. In just 2days, the cold sores are cleared. 4weeks after medication, I went to the hospital for test of cold sores and it was completely NEGATIVE.
By following every prescription, i was able to cure my cold sore in less than 4weeks. 100% natural herbs no after effect.
Note: Please do let others know if this work for you.
The doctor's email is drutuherbalcure@gmail.com
