Tiktok

I’ve been watching a lot of tiktok videos recently
They are under 20 seconds long, follow silly trends of dance steps, musical clips and slapstick and are pointless fifteen minutes of fame for the millions of mostly young people who enjoy them
They are, I concede very addictive.
The above video is a little clip of music by Lilian Hepler
It is used on Tiktok by people who what to show they understand someone else’s pain.
And the homemade videos when the supportee sings the song to the supported are incredibly moving to watch.
I think it’s the lyrics I know I know I know , that resonate
Quiet acceptance that someone actually understands ...
Take a minute and take a quick look, type in you are good enough

Lovely caring words to the little tune. Yes, tough times come but don't last and I hope everyone can hang on until those times are gone.

We have Fraggle Rock on DVD and if you want something to perk you up, just join in singing "Dance your cares away, worry's for another day, let the music play, down at Fraggle Rock!" Heaven help me, that's from memory from when our sons were small.

    Hugs!

  3. Oh dear. Does it all boil down to something like this now? Are we all turning into 15 year-olds?

  4. I haven’t tried it out yet but I like the idea of staying current on things so I can relate to the younger crowd in small ways.

  5. Heartwarming - You are good enough is a very necessary message, and we all need to hear it in these perilous times. You are, indeed, good enough John. Hugs

  6. "Won't you please stay here"--oh, the sadness.

As for being fifteen, that reminds me of a line in a favorite old movie--"Holiday" (1938, George Cukor) starring Cary Grant & Katherine Hepburn.

Her stuffy banker father accuses the pair of acting like they're seventeen.

Hepburn's character replies, "We're all grand when we're seventeen. It's after that that the sickness sets in.

    The kids are okay.

  7. The videos I find addictive are on my facebook page. Poor dogs being rescued from awful situations, and being restored to a healthy life. I shouldn't watch them, but I do.

  10. I don't know where this good enough thing came from but there is something unnecessary about it that I don't like. Nobody should be asking or need to be told they are good enough. It stinks.

    2. No one should.....but so many it would seem, need that validation
This is just one way I guess Rachel

    3. They don't need that validation, it is a myth invented by the masses on social media that goes around like a virus. Love and security begin at home and are not a thing for bandying around and being blown out of all proportion to suggest you could even BE not good enough. Once the seeds are sown the doubt begins, and it is totally unnecessary for young people to have to stop and question "am I good enough". Horrible.

    4. I so agree..... love and security does begin at home
But so many , from the on the surface, best families don’t learn this , never experience it or have the joys of being treated with respect and love and inclusivity .
      Many people NEVER experience validation
Many live the scars of this
So many people I used to listen to in samaratains needed just to be listened to , to be accepted ....to be heard.
And that starts with the young, when children need that unconditional support and love.
No one should think that they are not good enough
      But thanks to parenting
Unfortunately they do ....it’s not social media’s fault, although there is blame enough to go around here

    5. I see what you mean. I was never outwardly shown a lot of love at home, as was quite the norm in its day, and praise was not given for anything. I was fine with it because I didn't know any different. But had someone at the time posed the question "am I good enough?" or "are you good enough?" it might have made me stop and think and have doubts about myself which would have been quite unfounded and to a young mind not a good thing. That was my way of looking at it.

  12. Oh I have wasted far too much time on TikTock It's addictive once you start watching and yes, because each clip is so short you don't see the hour pass you by!!

I do tend to stay with the light hearted and hilariously funny clips though. It's good to end the day on a laugh, I even got a dirty look off the Pug the other night for waking her up with my laughing :-)
