Masks

Strange as it would seem Dorothy seems to enjoy wearing her face mask
It smells of me that why I think she feels comfortable in it mind you ...bulldogs generally don't mind dressing up at all.
It's a breed quirk!!
After work I was called around to Polish Monika's house to check a chicken who is suffering from Bumble Foot. I wore gloves and a mask , something Monika's daughter captured quite well as she watched me from her drawing spot at the kitchen table.

She gave me her drawing as a thank you for coming round
I felt awful
I think the hens not going to make it

    1. After she gave me the drawing , she added a flower head , with all the seriousness of a Nobel prize

  7. I like the simplicity of her drawing; it is quite sophisticated in the way that she got all that really mattered. I think it should be framed and put on your wall.

  8. I love the artwork. Yes, it would be nice on your wall with the others. Dorothy looks better in a mask that some of us do!

  9. The hen may not make it but she will make an excellent coq-au-vin.

  12. Why can I not stop laughing at Dorothy in her face mask? Have to say, it IS the laugh I needed today.😂

  13. I love the photo of Dorothy. And the drawing. Imagine children needing to understand about drawing masks. It makes me wonder about the long term effects of some of what we must do now. I think most children are resilient, perhaps more so than adults, but I do wonder.

    1. The mask covers the difficult to draw parts of the face. Maybe it will inspire more portraits.

I agree that your likeness with the chicken is worthy of framing and won't Monika's daughter be pleased about that?

Perhaps that charming photo of Dorothy with the mask on should be framed too!

    Hugs!

  15. Monika's daughter has caught you with a startling likeness. Recognise you from that anywhere.

I'm feeling morose for that poor bird. If she just HAS to go I do hope it's with the absolute minimum of pain and discomfort.

Little Dot is a fine example to all of us of sensible behaviour which, I only wish, more people would take notice of and do likewise. Even in shops, despite it being mandatory, I'd say about 1/4 to 1/3 even now still don't bother, silly people! But of course, the shops need their money however it comes.

  16. Dorothy looks adorable. I too would frame the picture. Thankfully I've never had a chicken with bumblefoot but in my experience once they look unwell it's already too late to do anything for the poor choock x

  17. I am glad to say my girls have never had bumble foot (touch wood) but I have read about it and it's not easy to sort out. The drawing is adorable.

Bulldogs already have difficulty in breathing so that suggestion is even more cruel than dressing up the dog in the first place.
Dogs do not enjoy being dressed up. They submit and put up with it because the leader of the pack is making them do it. We should never forget that dogs aren't toys or dollies to dress up for our amusement.

    2. My dogs are not keen on being dressed up, but some of them LOVE it. I know for a fact that if you take either Mavis' or Suky's collar off they are bereft. We change them over when they are away from Wales at the Van and that minute being 'naked' makes them very unsure.

You can tell if a dog is enjoying itself and an owner usually knows their own dog well enough, without lectures from others.

    3. My top dog loved his parka when it rained as he hated his head getting wet and he was a tough nut too.Darling Dorothy I'm quite sure doesn't dress up daily but in"these times" I think it's very appropriate for her to model a face mask for a photo just remind us all"to Mask up" x

  21. I didn't think bumble foot existed. It just sounds like somebody who's a bit ungainly.
Don't think eating it if it doesn't survive sounds like a good idea.

a sign of and a reminder of these times to look back on one day.
