Gawd it wild yesterday.
Storm Francis blew in with such driving horizontal rain that it took an age to get into work
I’m back on nights which is tiring and finish Saturday morning to have 9 glorious days off
As ai came into work I stopped briefly to photograph the back of the Great Orme which was shielding the hospice from the worst of the storm
If you look closely you can see the mountain goats hiding away in the Eastern facing crags
Dots of white against the brown/ green of the peninsula

Goodness! Sheets of rain and tiny white blips of mountain goats trying to shelter. Hope you got to work safely and that this and the rest of your night shifts will be tranquil. Hope, too, that Storm Francis will be long gone before you're on your way home again in the morning.

ReplyDeleteOne of the more problematic issues I have with inclement weather is trying to prevent the pussycats doing their business indoors [they adamantly refuse to go out in howling winds to be so easily blown over] where not one of the four will use the litter trays provided but will wee against any nearby indoor wall and, at least one of them will use the bath to do his 'stinkies', which is a small mercy when I have to search out the others' deposits, scooping up and washing and spraying after they've been broadcast to my nose.
Thankfully, no problems this morn at least, and at last.
First line of my comment - Should have typed 'goaties'. 'Goatees' is something else, which anyone with 'beard' in their name ought to know. :-)

ReplyDeleteI believe the west coasts got the brunt of Francis. We started out with a blustery wind which got stronger as the day wore on. Enjoy your nine days.

ReplyDeleteThe goats remind me of 2004, when 3 of 4 hurricanes went through my county. Local rancher (we raise cattle here as well as citrus) told me after Charlie, the wild turkeys didn't roost in the trees for about a week. After Jean, it took them a couple of weeks to regain their faith in the trees - just in time for Francis to hit. After that, he didn't see a wild turkey roost in a tree for a month.

ReplyDeleteFortunately those goats are hardy beasts! I once saw a mother goat give birth on the side of a steep craggy outcrop and within minutes both mum and baby were leaping from crag to crag. My heart was in my mouth especially as below was a raging sea. Great that you have 9 days off looming. I expect you have some treats planned. Enjoy!
