I got the negative result of the local health board email this morning.
My bestie down in London laughed
" You will have to give all that donated food back now " she quipped
With the generally mild symptoms I have experienced I am somewhat disappointed I didn't have the mild version of the virus , so Im back to square one
Mary and I went out for a long walk in the cold sun
She's in season and is suddenly very feisty indeed
She has been guarding the cottage like a lioness
Phew!!
ReplyDeleteWhat a relief and no, you don't really have to give all the donated food back, you simply have to be on standby to do the same for everyone else when they need you ... as you do anyway :-)
Oh and if Mary 'decides' to have pups ... put me down for one :-)
It's difficult to know if this is good news or not in a way as if you had only mild symptoms you would have got it out of the way whereas now you will still know you could catch it. The main thing though is that you are okay which is good news. x
ReplyDeleteLovely looking dog, trying to make out her breed. Good to hear that your ok.
ReplyDeleteMary is a Welsh Terrier ♥️
DeleteGood news, keep yourself safe.
ReplyDeleteAs you say, a relief that it is negative but if it had turned out to have been a mild dose of the virus that would have, hopefully, given you some measure of immunity.
ReplyDeleteI hope they hurry up with that vaccine!
Man flu....
ReplyDeleteIn one way that's a relief and in another it isn't.
ReplyDeleteIt IS a huge relief but then I understand that it would have been a relief to have had it, mildly, and been done with it. But I AM glad you're well and may you stay that way!
ReplyDeleteEchoing everyone else. I am glad for you, and sorry too. Stay safe.
ReplyDeleteYAYZ!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteWhich season is Mary in? The rest of us appear to be in springtime. How great that you are negative! Now get back to the goats!
ReplyDeletei know what you mean about the disappointment. My daughter had the very scary version, her partner had much milder symptoms and her 6 year old son much milder still. Although still not taking any chances she does feel a sense of relief that their household has survived it.
ReplyDeletePlease keep safe when you return to work.
Mixed feelings at that result as I know you will have too. x
ReplyDeleteReally glad you're OK, though I understand the mixed feelings. Hugs xx
ReplyDeleteWhat?
ReplyDeleteThat's good news! This virus is very scary and some people who have been affected say that their lungs or their heart have felt the strain.
Glad you're going to be ok. Take care!!
XOXO
Most people don't remember that there are a plethora of 'normal' 'everyday' viruses out there to deal with beside covid. So glad you avoided the 'big one', John. Be safe. Take precautions. Be on guard, like Mary.... (hugs)
ReplyDeleteHey, that's great news!!
ReplyDeleteGlad to hear, keep resting and get well. You give kindness, and you receive kindness, what a wonderful world.
ReplyDeleteMixed feelings for you, but at least you can put it to the back of your mind whilst you fight off Mary’s suitors! Onward and upward, take care x
ReplyDeleteIts good news that you are negative, and I hope your bug goes away soon.
ReplyDeleteThere is nothing better than starting the day with good news. Stay healthy!
ReplyDeleteWell, that's a relief! We all got a scare!
ReplyDeletePHEW!
ReplyDeleteLet's get on with it!
Wonderful to hear! I get the mixed feelings. It is a time for many strange feelings. A friend I spoke with yesterday, was bashing herself for crying; she's on a 14-day lockdown at home, as one of her coworkers has tested positive for C19. I tried to gently explain that it's ok to feel these feelings, and to be kind to ourselves. None of us have ever experienced anything like this in our lives. It's forcing us all to stop, reflect, and decide how we really want to live. More kindness, less pettiness, more being, less doing. If we can all learn to love ourselves unconditionally, as we love our pets, then we can love others and this world can be a better place. Much love from Illinois.
ReplyDeleteI'm sure you have mixed feelings about your result x
ReplyDeleteWonderful news!
ReplyDeleteI'm so glad to read that John - "just" a nasty virus. I can imagine your stress levels these past few days though - such scary times.
ReplyDeleteGood news!
ReplyDeleteGood news, hugs, and stay well after all that!
ReplyDeleteCat
people in wuhan are getting reinfected so maybe getting a mild case doesn't make a difference. there's so much we still don't know. and though dictator don makes everyone around him get tested constantly, he's ready to open the country with no testing available.
ReplyDeleteIt seems to me that in one immensely positive way you and all that care about you are now far ahead of square one.
ReplyDeleteEach person that's been supportive of and helpful to you has felt empowered to some degree.
Rather than helplessly cowering alone frightened by "the beast" all did their part and fought it as it seemed to be attacking one among us. - Mary
Welcome relief! Enjoy the sunshine x
ReplyDeleteWell, what a welcome turn up for the books! Aside from your own relief (which hardly needs saying) maybe it's a lesson in trying to be even more careful and wary than you were before - and we all know you were. The phrase 'Can't be TOO careful' comes to mind. Hope your not subject to another scare of the same, though even that would be better than actually getting the you-know-what.
ReplyDeleteRemember that when it comes down to it, little Mary will keep ALL the unwanteds out of the cottage. They'll all be too frightened to approach.
Now you go well and stay safe, d'you hear?
Such a double edged sword. You are happy you don't have it but wish you got a mild version and could be done with it.
ReplyDeleteExcellent news!
ReplyDeleteThank goodness!
ReplyDeleteYes actually it would have been better to have a mild version of the virus. Hopefully it will miss you entirely... and anyone else reading this.
ReplyDelete\pleased you are recovering although maybe it would have been better if you had had the mild version.
ReplyDeleteAs to Mary - are you sure she isn't looking for a likely chap? Are there are more Lakeland Terriers in the village?
My thatch is a lookalikie but lives far away.He too is feisty but I do think understandably so as his tackle was removed without his permission which seems to have made him extremely annoyed x
DeleteYou really need to eat very healthily John and drink lots of fluids to boost your immune system so if you were to ever be anywhere near the virus you can fight it off.Do you think you may have had it months ago anyway and dismissed the thought?x(I thought I had an unpleasant attack of anxiety a few months ago and took rescue remedy)x
ReplyDeleteSo good to know you shall live to see another day! LOL Perhaps what you did have, will give you a slight bit of immunity ... it could be a saving grace if it works that way!
ReplyDeleteHugs from S. Colorado!
Even though it would have been nice to build up immunity to the virus, the negative result is good news indeed! Happy dancing here. :)
ReplyDeleteHope Mary avoids all suitors for the duration.
Enjoy cautiously being out and about once more.
Hugs!
Terrific news!
ReplyDeleteStay well
Hmph, all that drama and worrying for nothing. Well, at least you know you'll be well looked after if it should get you after all. Good luck with that feisty gal keeping you on your toes.

ReplyDeleteWell, that is good news ...except for the still being sick part. Stay well, stay safe.
ReplyDeleteSuch good news!! Stay safe!!
ReplyDeleteGlad you are ok and glad that Mary is on the job!
ReplyDeleteThere is still so much the experts don't know yet about this virus, so hoping for some immunity by having contracted it, might have been a wasted emotion, could also make you a little less cautious. Anyway, I hope you feel tons better from whatever bug you picked up, eat well, make chicken soup, panacea for all ills, and get plenty of rest, you do such a hard and heavy job looking after others, you need to let your guard down and enjoy some total relaxation for a change. Be good to yourself John, lots of love and positive thoughts from Terry in Reigate
ReplyDeleteWelcome news, John. But continue to take care of yourself over the next few days as you may still be more vulnerable than usual.
ReplyDeleteGlad you’re feeling better.
ReplyDeleteWe’re all so jumpy at the thought of this virus. When I think of going to the grocery store I ask myself if what I want is worth dying for.
A good tramp with Mary in thefresh air was a good idea.
weavinfool... I agree with you. I had cause to shop for some elderly neighbours today; I was a nervous wreck by the time I got to the checkouts; my hand was shaking so badly I could hardly enter the pin number on the buttons! I am normally not so nervous but the thought of catching this virus is getting to me.

However, no such test is 100% reliable, with both false positives and false negatives. I offer a quote from someone who should know: "“If you have had likely exposures and symptoms suggest Covid-19 infection, you probably have it — even if your test is negative,” wrote Harlan Krumholz, a professor of medicine at Yale, in The New York Times."
ReplyDeleteGreat news to hear of the neg. test. But at the same time I understand your thought on getting a mild case. If nothing else it gave your village a test run of their system.
ReplyDeleteWell, it's too bad you can't say you've gotten it out of the way -- but I've also heard these tests aren't always correct. So who knows?!
ReplyDeleteSo glad your feeling better and a good negative result, however keep safe, your illness isnt over yet x
ReplyDeleteAll the best ❤❤
wONDERFUL.
ReplyDeleteGood news John, but it is still a virus, so take it easy and hope you feel back to normal soon x
ReplyDeleteVery happy to hear this - but I understand that, given your work, it might have been best to get it over with. Please give yourself the time to get over whatever it was.
ReplyDeleteGood news! - though I know how you feel about getting it over and done with!
ReplyDeleteWell thank goodness for that xx
ReplyDeleteI'm echoing all the above sentiments John....I really wish there was a vaccine available right now.
ReplyDeleteJo in Auckland
I understand your ambivalence. Ah, well - it is what it is and the only way to go now is forward, trying your best to stay uninfected. Hope you're feeling better now anyhow, and free of distressing symptoms.
ReplyDeleteIt certainly would have been good to be immune, but at the same time you don't know how serious it might have been! Good news.
ReplyDeleteSuch very good news, John! Congratulations from New Zealand.
ReplyDeleteI love your work.
