Wasn’t DD the answer to Marilyn Monroe? She was pretty! And I have to play that clip to some friends who I’m sure will recognize 80% of the movies! The Fred Astaire scene is a classic! Also West Side story FTW.
Which noir was it John? Diana Dors was in a few noirs and kitchen sink dramas. Some film noir are absolute classics; others are to be watched with tongue firmly stuck in cheek...
Ah...'Yield to the Night' (based on the Ruth Ellis case) and 'Man Bait' aka 'The Last Page' both featuring Diana Dors aren't too bad - if noir is your thing. Products of their era of course.
Fanbloodytastic! I remember watching many of those films with my family when I was a kid. Loved them. Thanks for posting; with this ongoing virus worry it was enough to get me dancing in my seat. Best blast of the week.
Wonderful. I can visualize the Debbie Reynolds interview where she said that great dance with Kelly and O'Connor, where they walked over the sofa, had to be done in one take.
I attended a Q & A session given by Ms Dors about a year before she died, in a rather small gay nightclub in Oxford, so small that she actually gave me a smile, just ME! She was lovely. I don't think that she, whom the 'popular' papers had pushed as the 'British Jayne Mansfield' never managed to shake off that image and to be given a fair chance to demonstrate her full potential.
Ginger Rogers said about Fred Astaire, 'I did exactly the same as him dancing but backwards and in high heels'. John, can you send me your e-mail address?
Brilliant!
ReplyDeleteWish I could do that. Any of it!

ReplyDeleteIt has to be said; Diana Dors was not the most inspiring actress. Big tits doth not a thespian make!
