Diary Of A Nobody

Yesterday
Finished work at 8.00 am
Laughed with colleagues, negiotiated around wild mountain goats in car park
Drove towards home on deserted roads
Stopped at Sainsbury's for provisions
Told to get to front of queue by nice trolley man who read my name badge
Old man in queue complained loudly that I went before him, so much for the Blitz spirit
Bought gin and bread and beer
Old man who complained snorted when he saw my purchases

Drove home
Village quiet
Waved at Mrs Trellis who was out with Blue, she had starched her bobble hat again.

Walked dogs down Gypsy lane,
Shepherd Graham was tending to his new lambs
Checked Trelawnyd 's Emergency whatsapp group. 34 messages!

Cleaned kitchen floor

Realised I had lost my wallet again.....searched house
Rang work to see if wallet was there....no....bugger!!!!!
Searched car and house again
Checked washing machine ( where I had found it before )
Nothing
Spent 1hour 49 minutes waiting to to get through to Barclays to cancel credit Card
Fell asleep doing so
Woken up by lovely Sonia shouting " Helloooo" from scotland who kindly cancelled my card
Made avocado on toast ( with egg)
Finally went to bed at 12.30 pm.....shattered
Dogs woke me at 3pm , barking at Postman
Gathered them up and took them round to Trendy Carol's ( who was wearing a floaty cream and brown ensemble)
Walked back home realising I was still in pyjamas
Went to bed again
Woke up at 5.30 pm

Drank cold coffee left over from breakfast

Fed Albert
Spooned out dog food
Answered phone , old friend Nigel, told him I will catch up with him today
Collected and fed dogs , realised I was still in pyjamas
Washed and then donned uniform, washed up pots
Left message on recycling for binmen with beer..thanking them for working
6.45 pm left for work
7.22 pm stopped at West Shore and admired the view and the very cold air

Felt human for a few minutes
7.29 got to work.
Laughed with colleagues
Placed gin I had bought in office
It is a gift to one of the support workers who will cut my hair before I leave for home tomorrow

  2. You share your taste in Gin with Lady M. I hope your wallet turns up; I've only lost mine once and it was traumatic.

I can't believe you let someone with a Zimmer frame wait in the queue while you went in before him.

  7. At this difficult time you have found the way through and reached what IS important in the craziness of it all. After a few more weeks of this it would be understandble if you arrive at work wearing your pyjamas x

  9. Always makes me laugh when you see old guys out for a drive in their flat caps, they never give way. I have often wondered where they are in such a hurry to get to? These days, it isn’t hard to imagine!?! The grim reaper is directing traffic...

Keep doing what you’re doing, you do it so well... apart from losing your wallet obviously!?!

  12. Who would want to clean a kitchen floor after a night shift? Your routine after a night at work sounds quite bizarre to me.

    1. When you have four furry kids cleaning the kitchen floor is an ongoing job, and it gives the house a semblance of cleanliness and care ... and is good for the soul.

    2. John, the whole routine sounded bizarre to me. Took you one hell of a long time to get to bed.

    3. One minor passing event in the morning, small and part of the rich tapestry of life, the old man, maybe a bit grumpy, and predictably almost every reader decides to pick up on it. Get a life, absorb it and celebrate the good things, whatever they are.

    4. Really? Rachel you are going all spectrum on me
I had to cancel my card just incase it had been stolen and used

    5. I understood about cancelling card although I would have probably asked St Anthony to help find it first and retraced steps since last using it. I started to feel sorry for the man at the supermarket here.

  15. It's the pending haircut that bothers me - social distancing and all. Will the support worker be using 2m extendable scissors to cut your locks? I like the pics of West Shore. A friend in Australia is asking people to post favourite pictures of seascapes on his Facebook page as a way of countering the current negativity he/we are all experiencing - perhaps an idea for GG? Losing your wallet - usually find mine has slipped down the side of the car seat...

  17. Three things:-
    1. The blogpost title "Diary of a Nobody" is the exclusive property of JayCee on The Isle of Man. No doubt legal action will follow.
    2. Did you ever find your wallet? I guess you must have mislaid it in Sainsbury's.
    3. Mrs Trellis's bobble hat must be stiff, very stiff. Is it purple?

  19. When my wife and I travel by plane, as a wheelchair user we must report to the dedicated PRM desk and be allocated a pusher who takes us to the appropriate queue, straight to the front. There's always a glares and mutterings from the people standing in line, I often feel like walking over to them and saying a few words, but am restrained by my wife. What they don't realise is that this is done to speed up everybody, they don't want us holding anybody else up; and we just get abandoned airside so don't actually gain anything. And we're always last to disembark.

Dang about that wallet - being up when most are awake is enough to scramble the brain. As for grumpy old man - not worth the words. And love our animals, even though they keep us on our knees scrubbing floors! Sleep well, and share a pic of your new 'do! Sending love from across the pond, and sincere thanks for writing the blog that I love the most!

  32. John, have you checked the area where you parked your car on return from supermarket? The wallet may have escaped as you got out of your car. Also, did you have your wallet on your person when you were walking your dogs down Gypsy Lane or back from Trendy Carol's? It may be worth a check.

  33. My daughter left her wallet in a McDonalds restaurant in another province (i.e. 10 hours away). She cancelled everything, but someone still found it and sent it back to her with everything intact! There are still wonderful people out there. I hope you find your wallet. I also think you are quite allowed to be in your pajamas under the circumstances :) -Jenn

Loved your recitation of who, what, when, and where as you left work and came home. So sorry about the lost wallet. Have you looked under the driver's seat in Bluebell? I once lost my wallet and it was between the seat and the car door, standing on its edge.

    Sweet dreams!

  39. I was also going to suggest checking the car between the door and seat, and the footwells. I've found my errant wallet in both those places. Use a flashlight to look under the seat. I hope your wallet turns up.

  41. Just reading the blog today has made me weary! Losing a wallet at a time like this would be enough stress to give me a heart attack. I had to set up internet banking the other day so I could continue to pay my bills and that was stressful enough. Technology and I are not the best of friends for the most part. I had a chuckle at you realising you were still in your PJ's...your poor old brain must be a bit fried. I hope you got some much needed rest!
