I'm not a movie-goer but I've do check out YouTube clips from movies (short attention span, I guess) and I've been impressed by Emma Thompson. Until this post, though, I didn't realize that was her in Nanny McPhee! I know, I'm an uncultured idiot :D
Climate change hypocrite who flew into London transatlantic to join Stop London and then took another plane back two days later. If you're going to preach about climate change evils and causes then at least practice what you preach.
I've never seen the complete film of Nanny McPhee (only excerpts) so could be mightily mistaken here, but have always wondered why, if this character has such super powers, she doesn't fix those blasted teeth!
She is beautiful I agree, in every way. Yes she flew in for the Climate Change thingy but she gave it lots of publicity ... we have all made rash mistakes ... I for one forgive her for that one.
When she breaks down in Love Actually it's tears me up every time. And I love her slow transformation to beauty in Nanny McPhee as she solves all the problems.
Oh oy, all you finger-pointers! Find me one "perfect" environmentalist ... there isn't one. We ALL do what we can, and none of us can do it ALL perfectly. I may be self-righteous about washing and reusing plastic bags, but I still use the F'n things. I may try to influence foresters to harvest trees in a sustainable way, but I still live in a wood-framed house. It doesn't make me a hypocrite; it makes me human, just doing my best in any given moment. Give other people a break. -Kate
