Boris was blunt and to the point
I'm glad
The lowest denominator factored in
I felt quite alone earlier, after he had spoken.
No husband to bounce off
No warm body to hug
I sat feeling sad and turned to the sofa were three pairs of eyes looked at me very carefully in the dark
The dogs sensed something was afoot, they have for days
They were on edge and watchful
And they watched me carefully
Mary jumped silently by my side and leaned in like Welsh terriers do
I'm not alone
I'm glad
The lowest denominator factored in
I felt quite alone earlier, after he had spoken.
No husband to bounce off
No warm body to hug
I sat feeling sad and turned to the sofa were three pairs of eyes looked at me very carefully in the dark
The dogs sensed something was afoot, they have for days
They were on edge and watchful
And they watched me carefully
Mary jumped silently by my side and leaned in like Welsh terriers do
I'm not alone
There are times that I'd rather hug my dog's warm body than my husband's!
ReplyDeleteYou are not alone John we are all with you. I am about to self shield. When I get the letter. What fun. But I can still read your blog. xxx
ReplyDeleteJohnson was blunt and to the point but he had not discussed the implications of the lockdown with the police beforehand.
ReplyDeleteSeven pairs of eyes if you count the wolf spider in the corner.
ReplyDeleteI felt the same. Thank heaven for blog friends.x
ReplyDeleteAlas the cat does the same thing but it doesn't replace a warm body. Not sure there is a warm body out there right now.
ReplyDeleteUnderstood x
Deletemy pups are so on guard. they know something is up though they know not what. this city is silent and that alone makes them suspicious.
ReplyDeleteI actually had a little weep, not something I am normally inclined to do. The lockdown needed doing, but it's still a shock and extremely unpleasant.
ReplyDeleteTake care
Not sure what's been said, so I shall go off to Google it. I ignore our own Liar In Chief, as the only leaders to be found over here are at the state or city level. We are headed for a massacre, and there are still people gathering on beaches and in bars. I pity the dedicated healthcare workers whose lives will be wrecked or ended because of such selfishness and willful ignorance. I hope so much that you will stay healthy, my friend.
ReplyDeletenope, john, you are NOT alone! you have your puppies and cat, you have your neighbours, you have US in blogland. I don't know where I'd be without all my blog friends right now. LOVE YOU! LONG DISTANCE SMOOCHES!
ReplyDeleteSadly, alone is safer now, and you have Winnie to hug.
ReplyDeleteStick to the dogs, John.
ReplyDeleteTo hug is to be human - but we can't hug humans, so dogs it is. A crisis brings out the best and the worst in people - I think Boris reluctantly made the right choice. Stay safe.
ReplyDeleteI was in shock too but not at all surprised by Boris-I feel quite reassured by him really.I did not walk my dogs at all as usual place is out of bounds and at the local park here dogs are not allowed off lead.My dogs have been squabbling and I shall have to now spend more time devising various entertainment.x
ReplyDeleteIt must be true: The only way out is the way through. Here in the States we're waiting for the lockdown to happen to us. That means a trip to the supermarket which I'm really scared to do. If it's what it takes to get this thing stopped, then we're all in it together. God be with us!! Anyway, we can be lonely in a crowd. Thank God for our dear pets.
ReplyDeleteSending hugs for you.
ReplyDeleteThis morning I walked out the kitchen door to find a little dead mouse on the porch by the mat. I felt as if one of my cats had decided to contribute to our survival. And although I have a husband to sleep with, my cat cuddled up to me is a huge comfort. One can never have too much love.
ReplyDeleteOne of my cats has been doing the same all week. The other one sits on the sofa. She couldn't catch a cold bless her, she isn't a hunter.
DeleteHmmm - one of ours brought us a bloomin' great RAT from the farm next door!
DeleteIt isn't the same but I, like so many others, am sending cyber hugs (totally non infectious) your way.
ReplyDeleteI hope the lockdown works for you. I am starting into my second week here. My husband farms and he never leaves so life isn't different for him except getting some of his special vitamins and farm stuff that is in the US. Our border is closed now. I am lonesome. I like being around people, not necessarily interacting with them. People here are pretty good though you have to tell the odd person to back off as they sneak into your 2m space. Our stores have even marked it on the floor at the checkouts. Hugs to all.
ReplyDeleteWe in California have been on lockdown for the second week. It's not affecting me too much socially, but trying to get supplies is a nightmare
ReplyDeleteBy that I mean that I am an introvert and don't see too many people anyway. I am staying in touch with extended family via social media. I hope we will all get through this very strange time with a better understanding of what is important to us all.
DeleteKeep safe, everyone.
The Idiot in Chief here defunded the Center for Epidemiolgy here (and took the funding), and dismantled the healthcare for all that President Obama started. Oh, and he "takes no responsibility." Heaven help us all.
ReplyDeleteTake care, everyone.
Hugs!
I think we all need to jump in bed and all cuddle for group hugs!!!! If not for Buster right now, I would be more depressed then a show. Our dogs in these times give more love and purpose then they know. Or they do.
ReplyDelete❤❤❤
Since I stay home a lot these last years for me it is not that different but then I think Oh My Goodness if I get the virus and go in the hospital I don't think i would come out. The mind is strong but the body is weak.
ReplyDeleteHug the gud dugs they will keep you loved.
parsnip xx
Our animals sense when things are not right. They also give much unconditional love. We are under orders to stay home here and we are seeing more cases of this virus in our area. It is frightening. It is a new world for us all. Take care John.
ReplyDeletebless you John, I am glad you have the company of your pets and blogland is here for us all, I really appreciate your posts.
ReplyDeleteSchools and all nonessential businesses have been shut down for awhile here. More things are closing every day it seems. We are homebodies to start with but the isolation is starting to get to me. Reading blogs helps. I joined postcrossing a few months back and that has been a good distraction too. Thank you so much for sharing your days with us. We are in this together even though far apart. Hugs from the US.
ReplyDeleteI too felt very alone after hearing the news. No one to talk to about how to manage, no one to hug. I've not really felt so low since Col died.
ReplyDeleteBut blogging is a lifeline - thank god I started it. PS My follower numbers are now where yours were when I started blogging - back then you had been stuck on 590 and were begging to get to 600 and I was one of the number that followed and got you there. And look at you now - an internet sensation!!!
Please keep blogging throughout this John, even if you aren't out and about. We can comfort and support each other online throughout all this. Hugs to you and the babies xxx
ReplyDeleteSocial media has really become a bonus now ! We are all together in this.
ReplyDeleteI went to bed with chest pains. If we get ill, we can not shop & collect prescriptions for our elderly, anxious neighbours.
Take care everyone xx
Three of us are self isolating here in Suffolk, thankfully with our three lovely dogs. Husband is transplant status and 45 year old daughter lives here. Sending you virtual hugs, keep blogging and posting your pictures. I loved the little jugs such gorgeous colours. Shout out to Sue, also in Suffolk. Love Janxxx
ReplyDeletebaby boomers are getting put in retirement homes now where they are regularly getting abused, neglected, and treated badly by the retirement home nurses, many of whom happen to be African American nurses. This is the future boomers choose when they betrayed and sold out their children's future. Millennials are NOT going to help you boomers. Enjoy your retirement homes, boomer scum! Oh and screw you boomer, i am NOT staying home! I will enjoy my life!
ReplyDeleteMy little cat is completely oblivious to what is going on. She just knows that both her people are at home, so trusts that her every need will be met.
ReplyDeleteI have no dog to hug so I have to hug my man. As he’s on crutches at the moment it makes spontaneous movement tricky :) Hugs x
ReplyDeleteThank god for dogs is all I say at the moment. They look to us for so much and now we can look to them for how to react. Keep calm, sleep lots and relax when we can … oh and if we don't understand something pee on it and walk away ;-)
ReplyDeleteI am sorry that you feel so alone John. At times my other half drives me to despair and I wonder what it would be like to be on my own. But, it's at times like these that you do appreciate another human being to feel sad with. I am sure that your singleton status will not last forever. You are too nice a person. x
ReplyDeleteEvery time I sit down my cat Grace is on my lap, she has felt my growing worry, I'm glad you have your furry family with you.
ReplyDeleteThis is certainly a crazy time. They have just cancelled school in Virginia for the rest of the year. At times I cannot stop the tears. Sounds crazy, but I do love my job. Murphy can sense something is amiss. He has been great company. Take care and stay healthy.
ReplyDeleteWe are all in this together, but will have to make do with virtual(((hugs))) for now. You are so lucky to have the girls with you.
ReplyDeleteOlga knew her walk was different today, too. (The dog walker didn't come so it was just us on a short outing.) It must be so strange for animals when the routines are broken.
ReplyDeleteIt was lovely to see your video of the choir members, it looks like we are all in the same boat, take care John.
