Thursday was a surprisingly down day
I had contacted my husband by email re the final death throe paperwork of my marriage first thing in the morning and the down feeling never left me until I got home after the cinema
Dorothy had a mad half hour of glee when I let the dogs out for a wee walk and she suddenly decided to leap around like a fat antelope and in a fit of showing off like a toddler who is just feeling their mortality often does, she galloped around the garden and bit the heads off nine daffodils just because she could.
So proud she was at her her work!!!!... I just couldn't tell her off....as she finally stood gasping for breath at my feet with shredded petals in her mouth ...and with a grin the size of a split water melon .
I bent down to hug her like she was my own personal star.
And her stubby tail span around like with bulldog pride as if it was a 1970s foodmixer
So happy she was.........at making me feel so happy

Good girl, Dorothy. <3
ReplyDeleteShe's hard work
ReplyDeleteDorothy is looking after you John-she may be an empath too x
ReplyDeleteAnd your writing makes me (and a bunch of other people) happy. Dorothy has caused a cascade of happiness :) Do you have ANY daffodils left??
ReplyDeleteSweet!
ReplyDeleteJoy can be shared, spring is coming,
ReplyDeleteWhat could you say? Bless her!
ReplyDeleteGlad you enjoy your dogs. My cat usually just drives me nuts. There are good and bad with but pets. I don't have the lifestyle for a dog.
ReplyDeleteDog happiness is wonderfully contagious but hope you plant future daffs in pots that are put somewhere that Dorothy cannot reach them.
ReplyDeleteHugs!
Give her an extra treat.
ReplyDeleteI'm sorry you're sad---I like your haircut, you look handsome! As for Dotty, I suppose that's why we have pets, their love is there, freely offered, never wavers.
ReplyDeletelizzy
Dogs can do that. They are better than a $500 an hour psychiatrist.
ReplyDeleteAnimals can do that. My rent-a-cat, Matty, came by very late today. I spotted him sitting high up on the corner of the wall in the backyard and pulled the blinds open. Before I could get the door open he had run across to a lower point on the wall, leaped to the ground and raced to the door. He came in, gobbled down his kitty treats as usual, took a bath in a sprinkling of catnip and then, rather than settle in for a long nap like he does when he comes in the middle of the day, went to the front door and darted out when I opened it. Dogs are embarrasingly lovable, cats are fickle. So it goes.
ReplyDeleteThey sure do have a way of making us feel a bit better at the lowest of moments -- a benefit to having more than one dog, and a Scottie, that's for sure!
ReplyDeleteoh my; hope you have plenty more daffs to bring inside the little cottage. mine are starting to push their green stems above dirt, but no blooms yet. I do have snowdrops and crocus blooming already.
ReplyDeleteBless Dorothy she can feel when your low and knows how to bring the joy back as do the rest of the gang.
ReplyDeleteI hope the final paperwork gets done soon. I read both blog posts back to front.
what would we do without dogs?
ReplyDeleteNothing is more comforting than the love of a good dog.
ReplyDeleteShe knows the way to your heart!
ReplyDeleteAwww that cute sweet face.. and the dog is adorable too!
ReplyDeleteIt's the children here who snap the heads off the Daffs.
ReplyDeleteMy ex was controlling and abusive. 25 years on,if I have to find divorce papers, his handwriting on the documents makes feel ill. Like you,I've built a wonderful life by virtue of hard work. But these memories.I have a 6 month old puppy, keeps me afloat with her sheer joy and my lovely family.
ReplyDeleteGive me a dog over a man any day. They give you complete and utter unconditional love...

Oh Dorothy, how I would have loved to see your daffodil head snapping !
ReplyDeleteI love the haircut.
ReplyDeleteHow lovely of her! I had a Boxer and he always knew when I was feeling down or sad and would do something just as silly as Dorothy, dogs know you see....
ReplyDeleteI can just see how Dorothy dashing round biting the daffy flowers off would be very funny to watch, but, I would feel bad if I didn't mention that daffodils are toxic to dogs....the bulbs are the worst bit but apparently eating the flowers can cause all sorts of bad effects too!
ReplyDeleteOh, sweet Dorothy x
ReplyDeleteBless her. xx
ReplyDeleteAwww
ReplyDeleteShe's so cute! She went for the daffodils, huh?
XOXO
I guess that there are so many daffodils in Wales that losing nine of them is no big deal. I have also heard that the streets of Wales are paved with leeks though I have never seen a single leek in any of your photos of Trelawnyd. Perhaps there is a magic leek forest on the other side of Gop Hill.
ReplyDeleteI don't think there's anything that lifts my spirits more than when I see a happy dog. It's so infectious (in a positive way, I mean, what with the daily gloomy reports about.....well, you know).
ReplyDeleteI couldn't agree more. I live opposite a "dog park", and watching a dog parading with a big stick in his mouth, pleased as punch with himself, never fails to make me smile. Even my sleepy old dog occasionally lies on his back and does the "roll and grunt" thing; the very sound of it makes me happy. Carol in Philly
DeleteI always pay articular attbetion to the demeanour of dogs when they are being walked. One walking along sprightly and with a bounce with tail up and jaws hanging open in a 'smile' makes me feel as good as the reverse darkens my day - seeing one who's slouching, along, perhaps head down or with tail between its legs. Saddening.
DeleteWho the hell wants to "archive great superiorities and prowess"? Very unappealing and bad English too.
ReplyDeleteDogs can do that John.... thats why they are man's best friend. :-)
ReplyDeleteDog love.
ReplyDeleteJust shows the animal lover you are. You have the look of Ben in EastEnders with your new haircut ..... tousled and trendy ! XXXX
ReplyDeleteThere's nothing like a joy dog to lift your spirits. Well done, Dorothy.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the smiles Dorothy . . .
ReplyDeleteA jig, tail wag, and a “few daffies” was a winner.
