The Horse

Yesterday
Lunch in trendy Shorditch, drinks in Lewisham, Tate Britain by the Thames and homemade soup and Bread in Catford!
The William Blake exhibition reinforced to me that he was a troubled man and I was thrilled to find my favourite painting of his , the tiny ( literally) paint on copper...The Horse.

I had a lovely time.

  2. Yes, William Blake certainly had his mental issues but his poetry was 200 years before its time.

  5. A good day out!
Once you realise how small some of his work is, and so detailed and beautiful... breathtaking.

  10. Amazing tiny painting. What did you see in it to deduce Blake was troubled? If my calculations are correct the painting is approx 2" x 4 1/8", quite marvelous technique and ability to get so much on something that small, esp the oddity of a copper engraving plate.

PS Glad to see you in a real shirt, either fresh and clean or good for hiding stains!

Marvelous! Am glad you had such an enjoyable outing with a good friend, good food, an interesting exhibit at the Tate to view, and a pack of joyful welcomes when you returned home.

    Hugs!

  12. I saw the Blake exhibition at the Tate in the early 80s and more recently a Blake exhibition at the Ashmolean. I visited the Tate in St Ives before Christmas and bought the (very expensive) Tate book on Blake. Are you saying he was a troubled man regarding his mental health - or the revolutionary times he lived in? I think he is a misunderstood man.

  14. You and Blake had one thing in common - you both visited your vegetable patches naked.

  17. Very nice, indeed! I used to live a stone's throw from Lewisham over in Greenwich. Did you happen to see the Catford cat while in Catford? He's pretty fab.

  18. The best collection of Blake's work is at the original Tate. I used to spend hours there!
