The cottage looks at its best by candlelight
I got home after a work half day, walked the dogs and cooked a casserole.
The candles were lit just before 4 pm
Sometimes it's nice just to come home and shut the doors to the world.
I'm watching the TCM movie channel
The Four Musketeers is on...I forgot just how good Oliver Reed ( Athos) and Faye Dunaway ( as the evil Milady) actually were.
And thinking of the song Chasing Cars by Snow Patrol
" ....if I lay hereIf I just lay here........
Would you lie with me
And just forget the world ......?"
Sounds like a perfect afternoon if you ask me. Enjoy your casserole. :D x
ReplyDeleteYour sweet home looks so cozy and inviting.
ReplyDeleteI love that movie!
The song stuck in my head is "The House at Pooh Corner" by Kenny Loggins. Go figure.
Hugs!
sounds like a great afternoon to me!
ReplyDeleteThat beautiful cosy home, a cosy sofa, a casserole and a good movie. Nice after a day at work.
ReplyDeleteI love to snuggle on the sofa with my dogs in the afternoon this time of year. One is next to me,one on an armchair, new one on the other and lovely lily gone upstairs to bed until dinner time.My woodburner is lit too but my room has shredded newspaper strewn around which new dog did,and then minutes he weed and it's still there as I'm exhausted- the walk took 2 hours and then I've helped carry several boxes of preserves into the church ready for our Christmas festival-I dropped off just now sitting up x
ReplyDeleteWonderful. If your getting the bad weather Weaver is having your lovely home is perfect for the evening.

Wet every day..it's been miserable
DeleteI love that song. It creates an ache but I embrace that thing and still enjoy the music.
ReplyDeleteIt's my finlay song

TCM have some good films.
ReplyDeleteNot enough black and white classics for me
DeleteHave just discovered Talking Pictures too, thanks to my Film class. I like that one.
DeleteChasing pavements - one of my favourite songs.
ReplyDeleteChasing cars is mine lol
DeleteTurn off the TV and sing that song long and loud. A passing floppy haired Adonis (floppy is such a horrible word) may surprise you.
ReplyDeleteJust have...mrs Trellis didn't even stop
DeleteYour home looks so warm and cozy.
ReplyDeleteIt is..and is smelling of winter fruits.. whatever that means ( centred candle)
DeleteOh, he was gorgeous sometimes, wasn't he?
ReplyDelete(The room looks cosy.) xx
And so masculine
DeleteI like that song too. Sometimes it's good to be able to pull up the drawbridge, I need to do that soon, time out needed to recharge the batteries.
ReplyDeleteEnjoy your cosy evening.
I've put Samaritans on hold for a week or so too
DeleteWe're watching a lot of TCM at our house too. Can't abide all these Christmas shows on the other channels and Corrie is too damned depressing lately.
ReplyDeleteI especially enjoyed their Hutchcock season recently
DeleteI used to have a real crush on Oliver Reed.
ReplyDeleteTowards the end of his life he'd have crushed you!
DeleteLol
DeleteWas that song sung by a hen?
ReplyDeleteThat version of the Musketeers is my absolute favorite!
ReplyDeleteRoy kinnear was a delight
DeleteI used to have a crush on Oliver Reed. too. He was so intense.
ReplyDeleteYour cottage is so pretty. Glad you were able to keep it.
ReplyDeleteOliver Reed's cousin runs a picture framing workshop here. He has many happy stories of getting pissed with his cousin - too many.
ReplyDeleteI bought that old map of Bath from Anthony Reed. I remember Oliver from the Hammer Werewolf debut.
DeleteYes
ReplyDeleteYour home looks so inviting John nice and cozy, we all need those quiet times now and then.
ReplyDeleteLovely!
ReplyDeleteCandlelight is the BEST.
XoXo
I used to fancy Oliver Reed, then I watched the naked fight scene in Women in Love and went off him . . .
ReplyDeleteI love those two movies, the Three and Four Musketeers. I fancied Michael York at the time. Your cottage looks so cozy and inviting!
