We have two mutual friends who live in a nearby walled town of Conwy so today went to meet them.
The venue, the Art Deco real ale pub The Albion was a place Eleanor had never been to before, but she was game and walked into the public bar with a swirl of her lovely pashmina
She stopped short when she saw the little puddles of dogs all sat at their owner's feet ( the pub is a renown doggy pub) and she beamed
" Darling John.....the. Dogs!!! Look at all of the dogs!" She cried
And she went around the tables saying hello to each one.
I love this about Eleanor
Her ability to find joy in the simplest of things.
We met our friends Sara and Pask in the snug and put the world to rights over a few beers and when the subject of dinner came up, I suggested chips on the little seaside quayside that borders the east of the town.
Eleanor beamed again
" Darling.. chips, mushy peas and gravy sound absolutely divine"
and with a swirl of classy cologne she led the walk across town
And we ate our chips on the little harbour wall overlooking the estuary in the dark!!
She sounds like a lovely companion on a delightful evening.
ReplyDeleteHer bon viveur is infectious
DeleteSounds wonderful,
ReplyDeleteI've eaten chips so many times in Conwy over the years. Last time I did so in Llandudno though last year a giant gull swooped down and stole the chip from my hand pecking my finger in the process. Good job I'm not scared of birds! Glad you had a lovely time and sharing chips always helps (preferably not sharing with giant gulls though).
ReplyDeleteNot a gull in sight, not after dusk!!
DeleteI'll keep that in mind for when I'm there next month!
DeleteHow does a Lady of the Manor hide a pair of Chapel hatpegs on a chilly night?
ReplyDeleteHow very dare you
DeleteA thick woolly jumper and a sheepskin lined leather jacket Mave!
DeleteI need to visit that Pub ! Now off to look up the wall town of Conwy !
ReplyDeleteparsnip
Now I need to see this most beautiful town. The photos are wonderful.
DeleteIt is quite beautiful have to see the castle xx
DeleteShe sounds lovely, in all ways.
ReplyDeleteI think I love her.
ReplyDeleteA gracious lady indeed.
ReplyDeleteYour friend Eleanor looks a beautiful gentle lady John x
ReplyDeleteChic Eleanor is certainly a delightful friend to have and she is beautiful, too! But then you do have many interesting and wonderful friends in your village and in the area, John. It must be that you're a helpful and wonderfully friendly person yourself.
ReplyDeleteHugs!
Sounds like a perfect day in perfect company!
ReplyDeletebeautiful woman! I would also greet all the doggies.
ReplyDeleteChips with gravy?? I thought only folk in Yorkshire did that!! Sounds a good evening out though and talking to doggies is right up your street too I would have thought. You treat your gang like humans.
ReplyDeleteNo, we do chips and gravy in Lancashire too, I think it's a Northern 'thing'

DeleteWe have them here in Canada. Started in Quebec eons ago, now spread to the rest of the country, it is called Poutine, big crunchy chips, gravy and cheese curds! My idea of a gourmet meal!
DeleteDH lived in London, Ontario for a few years as a young teen, so when his family moved back to the US South, he continued to have chips with gravy and still does.
DeleteAs one from the north (bred in Yorkshire) don't think I've ever heard of chips with gravy - or if I have it's been forgotten - though I'm pretty sure it's never caught on there. Perhaps it's a north-WEST thing?
DeleteAm I the only one who had to google "pashmina"? LOL.
ReplyDeleteI'll admit it. I did too. Now I want one.
DeleteI love that picture. You both look so naturally happy. People that enjoy the simple things in life are the best for they know the secret that it is the simple things that make life special.
ReplyDeleteThe picture says it all, happy times with dear friends.
ReplyDeleteI have a picture of myself and my daughter, and in later years myself and my granddaughter sitting on the quay wall, eating those genuine English fish and chips, looking upward at Conwy Castle, just across from The Smallest House in Great Britain, It sits on my refrigerator door :)
~Jo
I love The Smallest House 😄. Love walking the dogs along the quay past there 🙂
DeleteGood times with friends are the best! It does the heart good.
ReplyDeletesounds like such fun! good times!
ReplyDeleteShe sounds like the most perfect friend for you at the moment ♥️
ReplyDeleteJohn, I love your friends, too.
ReplyDeleteWhat a lovely face you have, Teresa
ReplyDeleteRemarkable photo,John. I can feel a palpable kindness in that face and am moved by it. Oh, and you look good too.
ReplyDeleteShe sounds a complete ( and beautiful) delight. Have you mentioned her before ? How do you know her?
ReplyDeleteI have never been to Conwy at night!
ReplyDeleteJust to the North Wales Potters shop and the Academy for art exhibitions.
Sounds like I have been missing out!!
That sounds like a better night than sitting in which would have been the alternative presumably.
ReplyDeleteWhat an odd way of putting things
DeleteNot so odd with knowing that you are working at doing things all the time. So it was a good night but the alternative is there in the background.
Delete“Darling,” this sounds like a sweet gathering. And I love the photo.
ReplyDeleteWe stayed in a dog-friendly hotel on the Gower a couple of years ago. I didn't quite agree with their policy of allowing dogs in the restaurant.
ReplyDeleteLove the pic!
ReplyDeleteHanging out with good friends is always a joy.
XOXO
The lady obviously radiates class on an Audrey Hepburn level, which would cheer anyone up!
ReplyDeleteIndeed, finding pleasure in the little things is the key to enjoying life. The big ambitious things can easily be disappointing.
ReplyDeleteThat DOES sound divine!
ReplyDeleteDoesn't it just show how well John is thought of when he posts about an evening with a nice friendm eating chips and 47 of us comment!
ReplyDeleteIt's 48 now Jan and I thought the very same thing!
Delete49!
ReplyDelete50!!!!
ReplyDeleteJust got home after work xx
What a lovely evening with good company.
ReplyDeleteMy ex had that ability. She could be a hot head about somethings but she new the right time to just sit back and enjoy the rain.
ReplyDeleteYour description brought images from one of my favorite movies. The character Katherine in Under the Tuscan Sun.

Hello everyone, I saw comments from people who already got their loan from Anderson Loan Finance , Honestly I thought it was a scam , and then I decided to apply under their recommendations and just few days ago I confirmed in my own personal bank account a total amount of 9,000 EUROS , which I requested for business. This is really a great news and i am so happy, I am advising anyone who only needs a loan and sure to pay back to apply through their email (Text or Call ) 1-205-5882-592 . There are sincere loan lenders!
