The Tea Caddy

I have worked shifts every holiday I have been given since the autumn and by doing so have paid for a short holiday outright. Every month I have squirrelled away some cash into the plain Regency tea caddy which sits on the mantle and today I will swap that cash for Euros, my spending money.
For the very first time in many years I am not delving into overdraft or credit card to pay for something of note!
I can only afford five days abroad, but that will be more than enough as I am returning to Sitges in Spain, a place I know and love and feel instantly comfortable with.
My Next holiday will be somewhere new, somewhere more challenging
This holiday its the comfort of what is known.
I go on Thursday!
and I am so looking forward to be able to sit quietly, with my eyes closed and my mind uncluttered, feeling the Mediterranean Sun on my face.

  2. Have a lovely break; from everything...even us! I have an old blue plastic piggy bank, into which go any pound coins in my change and when (aged 56) I decided to learn to play the cornet (!) it was paid for with pounds from pig. Almost like something for nothing!

  10. I would love to experience Sitges. (You should probably find a new hiding place for that cash... now that it’s known to the entire blog world!)

    1. Everyone has your address and knows what night shifts you do. The might run the risk of being licked to death by a dog.

  22. Thanks for letting us know where you keep your savings. I must get in touch with my two mates in Rhyl - Bryn "Knuckles" Evans and Shifter Thomas - see if they fancy a late night trip to Trelawnyd with their swag bags.

  23. Enjoy your break in the sun, John. You so deserve it! I've been away myself (only to Cornwall, the county next to me!) so I've caught up with your posts today, while sitting in a garden centre coffee shop. The 1st one I read was about George. I'm so sorry, John. After surreptitiously mopping up my eyes, went on to read the rest. Hope Jason will eventually make a full recovery from dog bite. Enjoy your hols and love to your furry family x

  27. Oh how lovely. Considering the amount of rain we have been having here in the Northeastern United States, a few days in sunny Spain would be sooooooo welcome.

We are off to Amsterdam for a few days next week. We sold a trailer we no longer need and are using the money to buy an experience and a break from every day life.

Just what we all need I think. xx

Stellar planning, saving up, and doing something to take good care of yourself. My Dad always said that happy anticipation is as much fun as doing what is anticipated, so enjoy a few days of anticipation, too.

    Hugs!

A well earned holiday - you should reward yourself for successfully navigating a dreadful year. This should put a period on it. Onward: here's to a new job, new friends and relationships, and many happy years!
