The attack was photographed
It's a testament to any small community when news gets around like wildfire.
This is , of course, helped by social media , and in Trelawnyd's case, it's own on line discussion board.
Towards the later evening of the carnival the affable Despot Jason was Savaged by a dog which was on one of those extendable leads.
The dog meant business and several small children were in the potential line of fire.
It was " lucky" therefore that Jason bore the brunt of the attack.
The injury to his hand is a serious one, I've seen it so I know And he's presently in England awaiting skin grafts.
The police have been involved.
Jason and his family are popular in the village.
You don't often know just how much until something happens like this
Going Gently and everyone here, sends their love and best wishes
wow, that's awful! what did the owner do? not much i guess.
ReplyDeleteThe police are involved
DeleteTerrible. All good wishes to Jason, we feel almost as if we know him as he's frequently mentioned here.
ReplyDeleteI bloody hate those extendable leads. My dog has been attacked several times by dogs on one, the owners have absolutely no control over their pet.
ReplyDeleteI sincerely hope that Jason makes a full and speedy recovery.
Extendable leashes should be outlawed, IMO. Did you know that the package warns of possible amputation should the leash get wrapped around your finger? Carol (Philadelphia)
ReplyDeleteThat came as a result of a case here in Oregon.
DeleteNasty. Please tell Jason that your readership wish him well. (Why affable despot?)
ReplyDeleteIt's a long story
DeleteWe always had extendable leashes for our dogs but there is a time and place that the leash can be extended and that's not at a carnival with lots of people. It's not the fault of the leash it's the the owner not having control. Best wishes to Jason and I hope there is no permanent damage.
ReplyDeleteWhat an awful thing to happen! Sending all the best wishes for Jason, and saying a prayer for him, too. John, I know you'll keep up with his progress, and hope any updates you give us will have a bit of good news. -Mary
ReplyDeleteOh no! Best wishes for a good recovery. I still think those things should be taken off the market.
ReplyDeleteSending love and healing to Affable Despot Jason, and hope he has a quick and complete recovery. xo
ReplyDeleteThat's terrible. My very best wishes to Jason for a speedy recovery. X
ReplyDeleteI hope Jason gets better soon. Please tell him that we wish him well.
ReplyDeleteOh, goodness. I'm so sorry Affable Despot Jason was injured and I wish him well with the surgery and recovery he'll need. Am glad, though, that the children weren't hurt.
ReplyDeleteThere are some places some dogs should go and that leash was certainly a wrong choice. The owners should have had better control and perhaps that dog is too excitable to be in crowds. They should have known better.
Hugs!
How sad - sending best wishes for a full recovery.
ReplyDeleteBest wishes to Jason from me.
ReplyDeleteHope for good news about Jason's hand soon.
ReplyDeleteWhat a sad end to the carnival.
Best wishes from the PNW.
Oh no, that's awful. Sending best wishes for super-speedy healing.
ReplyDeleteMy wishes also for uncomplicated and swift healing. A dreadful event.
ReplyDeleteJason.....sending positive healing energy your way. I hope things mend quickly for you and family. Please take care.
ReplyDeleteHoping that dog owner gets her ass fined!!
His ass
DeleteI'm getting fed up with dogs now. I once thought of getting one but could not think of a good enough reason. If they attack people then just kill them. Never mind if they are good with children normally.
ReplyDeleteAnd after they have been put down, fine the owners a lot of money. That would sort out the right people to own dogs.
DeleteI totally agree... now I am hearing the dog was not on a lead
DeleteSorry, but that's a bit harsh. In my experience, it's usually the owners that are at fault for not controlling their dog, or putting a highly reactive dog in bad situation.
DeleteThe owners should be punished. If you want a dog, train it and Always keep it close when around children, no matter how sweet and friendly.
DeleteThe idiots that own the dog are at fault so the child and poor dog suffer, shameful.
Of course it's the owner's fault but in many cases like these the damage has already been done to the dog and it's very unpredictablility precludes it from being safe in public
DeleteOMGoodness. What a thing to happen. Do we have any idea why the dog suddenly attacked like that? All good wishes to Jason.
ReplyDeleteIt was totally out of the blue
DeleteWhy the owner thought it would be acceptable to bring such a dog to a public event.... We had a rescue dog that stayed at home 24/7 as we could never trust her, actually we could trust her-- to be aggressive! She bit the delivery man after he had been told to leave her be. She had all her needed shots and he told his employer and doctor he had asked for it. She even gave us hard nips when she was having too much fun. Poor thing was pretty abused. She died peacefully by my side and I bawled like a baby despite the challenges of being her support human.
ReplyDeleteI have just messaged jason and told him that the Going Gently followers are lighting candles for him across the globe
DeleteHe sent the followingmessage
😂😂😂
I am so sorry to read this. And join everyone in wishing Jason a speedy and complete healing.
ReplyDeleteBest wishes to Jason. He has been a good friend to you and I sincerely hope that his hand heals well - with no on-going issues.
ReplyDeleteI do hope Jason is better!!
ReplyDeletePeople forget that some dogs can be set off by the slightest things. Especially if they have not been trained well and even then it can be tricky. Proper leashes and, if needed, muzzles, when out in public is all for the greater good.
Sounds like Jason was a hero, protecting children from possibly being attacked. Hope his injuries heal quickly.
ReplyDeleteAdd my voice to the rest- may all be well with Jason. What a terrible thing to happen, especially at a village carnival.
ReplyDeleteLots of love to Jason and good healing too x
ReplyDeleteThere's always a reason why dogs are vicious; very occasionally an ill natured animal, but much more often their owner.
ReplyDeleteMore healing thoughts for Jason...
An awful thing to happen at a fun event. Please include my best wishes too when you see Jason. He was very brave.
ReplyDeleteThoughts with Jason. Bloody awful owner of dog.
ReplyDeleteHeal well and quickly Jason!
ReplyDeleteHoping Jason makes a full recovery and the people responsible for the dog are prosecuted.
ReplyDeletePlease add my best wishes to Jason for a speedy healing process.
ReplyDeletePeople need to think about what their dogs can do.
ReplyDeleteOoh dear how sad.
ReplyDeleteSending Jason healing wishes....
Irresponsible dog owners are the worst.
~Jo
Oh dear, that's terrible news! I hope the grafts are successful and that the wound(s) heal quickly and thoroughly! Best wishes to Jason!
ReplyDeleteI am so sorry to hear this. I send all my best to Jason as well! May he heal quickly!
ReplyDeletePlease let Jason know that positive thoughts for a successful recovery are being sent. Sounds like he was a true hero and stepping in so children were not hurt. Please let us know if a Go Fund Me of something similar needs to be set up especially if he has to be out of work to support his family while recuperating. I am sure there are some on your site that would contribute.
ReplyDeleteGood vibes to Jason and may he regain full function.
ReplyDeleteI'm sorry, I belong to the "if you bite a human, you get the death sentence" brigade. I've even told all our dogs that.
A dog that can savage anyone is not a stable animal
DeleteHope he gets all the treatment and care he needs and has a good recovery with no permanent damage. Please pass on our best wishes from the hinterlands in Missouri.
ReplyDeleteThat's terrible, it must have been horrific. All the best for Jason's recovery.
ReplyDeleteI HATE those leads.
Lawdy! More wishes from my way for Jason. I hope this international outpouring of psychic vibes has some healing effect.

ReplyDeleteSo sad to hear, wishing Jason a speedy recovery.
ReplyDeleteSending best wishes and lit candles to Jason. May he recover fully as soon as possible. x
ReplyDeleteVillage? Not village? Larger than what I think of as a village when someone can have a dog like that and it not already be untrusted, unless it was a visitor to the village. Speedy recovery to the Affable.
ReplyDeleteWishing Jason a speedy recovery.
ReplyDeleteHow terrifying - and how brave of him to take the brunt of it. Best wishes for a speedy recovery.
ReplyDeleteHow very brave of him. Do they have the dog and owner? Sending best wishes from California too.
ReplyDeleteThe photo is a bit fuzzy but it's very clear that was a BIG dog out of control. Sending best wishes and praise to Jason for taking the "hit" before it reached the children. X
ReplyDeleteHow terrible and shocking. Just earlier in the day at the fair, in your pics, he looked so handsome and happy with his daughter. What a brave man he is to take the brunt of the attack, and so protecting nearby children. I wish him well, a speedy recovery.
ReplyDeleteThe blurry pic looks a lot like a pit bull.

DeleteTell him I'm waving a candle for him in New Zealand.
ReplyDeleteI am sorry to hear you were attacked, jason. hope you sue the arse off that vicious dog's owner and that you heal soon.
ReplyDeleteBest wishes go out to Jason for a speedy recovery.
ReplyDeleteVery best to Jason. Hope the owner bares the brunt of the laws and costs.
ReplyDeleteWhoa. Hope he gets through this soon. That's really terrifying.
ReplyDeleteOMG terrible!
ReplyDeleteHope he recovers soon.
XoXo
The best to Jason. No one deserves or should be attacked unprovoked. Good to Jason, for coming between children and dog.
ReplyDeleteOh my word how absolutely terrifying... I really hope Jason is doing well and everything can be repaired as good as new.
ReplyDeleteJo in Auckland
Dog attacks are terrifying. I hope he is ok.
ReplyDeleteHow shocking and awful! I hope he is doing well and there is no lasting physical damage. -Jenn
ReplyDeleteSuch sad news. I hope Jason is better and not in too much pain.
ReplyDeleteI wonder why the dog was not better trained and the owner should be fined and the dog taken away.
parsnip
I would take a bet this is not the first time this has happened with this dog. This is why it is always so important to file a police report (or in the USA a report with the Animal Control) to let people know. Our dog of 13 years was killed by another dog and believe me it was a learning experience for us.
ReplyDeleteAll the best wishes for Jason.
ReplyDeleteAdd my wishes for healing to Jason and for the community that witnessed it.
ReplyDeletePoor Jason. You never know what is going to come out of the blue. I expect his whole family is shaken.
ReplyDeleteWhat a shocker. One minute enjoying the fair, the next moment he was attacked. I am praying Jason's hand will be fully healed and that his spirits are good.
ReplyDeleteWas it a Pit Bull type dog? It has a similar looking silhouette. Poor Jason, I hope his hand will be back to 100%.
ReplyDeleteOh my god that's just terrible. Please add my wishes to the rest for Jason's complete recovery. The owner should be charged with a crime. There's simply no excuse for allowing such a thing to happen.
ReplyDeleteWishing Jason my good wishes for a speedy recovery.
ReplyDeleteI echo all that has already been said. I wish Jason a speedy recovery.
ReplyDeleteWhen one of my daughters was younger she was bitten by a dog in a totally unprovoked attack.I reported the incident to the police and the owner came to my door to confront me.I am a dog owner and lover myself ,but these incidents need to be reported and addressed so dog owners are held responsible. No matter what age you are a dog attack is a frightening thing.Hope Jason recovers swiftly
ReplyDeleteThat is terrible that the owner came to your house to confront you. He or she should have hung their head in shame, bringing you a bunch of flowers or a box of chocolates and an apology. What a moron!
DeleteWishing Jason a speedy recovery. What a nasty thing to happen, especially on a community occasion !
ReplyDeleteBest wishes Jason.
ReplyDeleteWhat breed of dog bit poor Jason? The photo is a little grainy - looks like a mastiff type. I had a frightening encounter walking my dog at Amlwch recently with a woman with two mastiffs who could barely control them. The one dog was very threatening. I think both myself and my old dog would have been mincemeat had it broken free. Unless you're in the military or security services I do not understand why people would want such an animal - and especially as a pet! Hope Jason's hand heals swiftly with no complications.
ReplyDeleteWishing him the easing of pain and a good recovery. I love dogs, but am infuriated by owners who don’t monitor their behavior and location. Those long leads are in the control of the dog owner... or should be. Wishing the Despot well.
ReplyDeleteSo very sorry - hope Jason makes a complete recovery soon.
ReplyDeleteThoughts are with him.
Is it a Sharpei? It is horrendous the amount of Rescue centres who think it is perfectly ok to rehome an aggressive dog. Every one I have been on will state if the dog has bitten or can go to a home with children or not. Wishing Jason a speedy recovery
ReplyDeleteWishing Jason a speedy recovery, it sounds like it was a nasty bite :-(
ReplyDeleteA sad occasion all around. Best healing wishes to Jason.
ReplyDeleteA lovely community occasion spoilt by a careless owner. This year’s carnival will be remembered for all the wrong reasons, how sad is that? What a hero Jason is! Goes without saying I’m wishing him well.
ReplyDeleteLX
Wishing Jason a very speedy recovery! Must have been frightening for everyone involved.
