The School Concert

Our Choir

We are all kids at heart
We all need vindication
Validation
And we all have the need to please, even though we may think that we are grown ups in a grown up world .

My sister, brother in law and sister in law came to watch our " concert" tonight as did many of the other choir member's relatives
And it was lovely for Me to see them there.
Even though my husband should have been proudly watching me from the wings
Or so I thought albeit briefly.
I hope Jamie with his 1940s RAF moustache was proud of us too and I'm pleased to admit that we only made one mistake when we followed the loudest bass when he veered "off piste" during one of the choruses

One of the Altos caught me drinking out of my water bottle just before the particularly hard Gregorian Chant piece  and she raised her eyebrows to see what I was gulping
" Pimms !" I told her conspiratorially  " want some?"
She nodded eagerly

I'll post a video of some of the performance tomorrow

    1. I wasn't the only one... there was a terrible whiff of gin from the soprano section

    2. You need gin to be able to hit the high notes.

  5. The average age of the school children of rural Flintshire hits a record high and meets the government education target of cradle to grave.

    2. I haven't checked the crown jewels but I guess you could get work as a bearded lady. However for lady status you may want to curb the flatulence a little.

  8. You are right about even adults needing validation. I can't wait to see the video! Performing is nerve-wracking up until things get started; usually things calm down a bit once underway. Or ... not?

And there isn't room for your husband in the wings. We are there cheering.

  16. I’d love to have seen it. Rehearsals are fun but we all need an occasional performance to make it worthwhile.

  19. It looks a lovely, jolly cillage event - glad it went well and glad your supporters were there. As to that brief thought - you would be odd if you didn't have such thoughts John - think them - briefly - then move on - that's what I do.

  22. You could get a coach for Going Gently supporters...you'd need to find a bigger hall! You're so right about the vindication and validation...as a 59 year old beginner cornet player about to play a solo at a concert with lots of wonder kids also playing, I really know how you feel about needing supporters!

  23. It's so sad that you still think "my husband"---and that you think of him at all. You need to find a new slot for him, "EX-husband"/ "someone I used to know"/ "who?".

  24. Well done John glad that some of your family were able to attend.
