Hugs ( real and otherwise)

There is an advantage of being almost as broad as you are long
You give good hugs
A hug should feel all encompassing and safe with a face full of cleavage or jumper...

so its only reasonable that big guys like me can wop em out with much more force than any skinny chicken can do
A friend stopped by yesterday afternoon, all tearful and upset
they needed a long hug and they got one , just outside the kitchen door with Albert watching with his bright golden eyes.
Hugs are food for the needy and sometimes are as rare as hens' teeth.

I am waiting for my ten year old financial advisor to turn up. I hope he  is a wizz kid
the morose postman has just been and dropped off a package from Finland
" I hope you're not starting another friggin competition " he moaned loudly as Mary danced at my feet trying to rip the letters from his hand.
He didn't smile at her.....he doesn't smile at anything
"Finland?" I mused "No I'm not expecting anything from Finland!"
The postman snorted

The package proved to be two original prints from Heini Kauppinen.
One for me and one for Rachel...
a lovey surprise....a virtual hug from someone we don't know
thank you!

I've had a few virtual hugs just recently:  an email from London Bear and another sweet one from Mitch. Some historical research from Rosica ( THANK YOU) and messages from Candice, Mike,Joni…...and others......kind words and best wishes....more hugs for the big guy who needs hugs as much as anyone
Under the montana Clematis, hanging on the gate yesterday was a plastic bag with a homemade cake in it.
The note inside said " I hope you don't leave us" and it was signed with an unhappy emoji face and a kiss.
The cake was lemon drizzle with half moons of candied peel on the top.
It was wrapped in silver foil

  1. When I was growing up nobody in my family hugged. When my youngest was born I decided my children were going to get lots of hugs and I started hugging everyone, even my dad. He was shocked at first but came to accept the hugs and I'm hoping even enjoy them.

My big guy is a huge man and gives the best hugs. I also hug my patients frequently. We all need human contact. It's good for our souls and good for our bodies and mind.

  5. Oh, John. You are so loved. And if I had a bucket list (which I don't) I think that getting a hug from you would be right on it.

  6. After my loss , living alone in a too big for just me house, I sold and moved.
It wasn't just being alone, it was being hit over the head with memories everywhere I looked.
I miss the house and location though...enough time has passed...so my lesson learned is Not to make any Big decisions for a year.
Mourn now...think about the other stuff later.
    Ps
You can also make the house over erasing the ghost of anyone having been there but you.

  16. Your postman sounds a bit like Doc Martin!
I think your life is 45% thinking of nice things to do for other people and 45% receiving the same. You do know how to take joy out of ordinary things, and, I believe, that is living well.

DH's family weren't huggers but I changed that! We hug often and our sons are great at hugging. I couldn't agree more that hugs are essential to keep the planet spinning properly.

Sometimes you have to make decisions that you do not want to at the time you have too. I had to, not great. I miss Laguna Beach, my home all my friends but where I moved to I have made a happy place to live in.
Just do the best you can.

WE ALL NEED A HUG IN THE MORNING
AND ONE AT THE END OF THE DAY
AS MANY AS POSSIBLE SQUEEZED IN BETWEEN

    TO KEEP LIFES TROUBLES AWAY

    NO MATTER WHEREEVER YOU RAMBLE

OUR TROUBLES BE GREAT OR BE SMALL

IT IS MY BELIEVE FOR INSTANT RELIEF

A HUG IS THE BEST CURE OF ALL.

  32. Hugs are the best and sending one your way, your postman obviously could do with one. People are afraid to touch anyone here in case it gets misconstrued sad stage of affairs if you can't comfort someone or even touch someone on the shoulder.
