Albert Missing

Last night Albert didn't come home
He was missing this morning, and his food bowl was full at teatime when I called the dogs for supper.
The last and only time this happened was when he broke his leg in the lane and was collapsed in the garden.
Mary and I went to search for him before The Archers , with no result and so on the way back we popped into neighbour Trevor's house so I could give him his daily anticoagulant Injection.
I tied Mary to the stair banister and was just about to go into the living room to administer the meds when Albert shot out of Trevor's kitchen with a wide eyed look of " where the fuck have you been?"
He must of followed me into the house during yesterday's injection visit.
Trevor hadn't a flying clue he's just had a lodger
And Albert head butted each of the dogs in turn before he said hello to me

  3. This is the problem with the cat's quiet steps, with a dog that would not have happened, you would feel that he was accompanying you.

  7. My heart skipped a beat when I read this post!!!!! do not do it to us, you have had enough already. When one of my cats was about six months we lost her, like yourself we looked all over and I was despairing. Walking up the garden I just looked up and there in the window of the Summer house was Minnie, looking just like Albert does in your photo. I had locked her in earlier in the day when I was looking for something, she was lucky as it was Winter time and I might not have looked in there for a day or two. Hate losing anything, but hate losing animals. Love Andie xxx

Oooops I guess the fact that you posted a photo of him kind of answered it!

  10. Oh my goodness you scared me! So glad Albert is okay and was just visiting. Apparently the accommodations at Trevor's were not to his liking.

  16. Thank goodness Albert is home. One less thing for you to worry about. I had to get myself a glass of wine before I could read this post! What a relief for you all I bet Mary is contented too.

    1. He's a tough old boy, he misses the dogs more then me

  18. Tough old boy indeed and a typical cat by the sound of it John - they like to give you a scare now and again just to keep you on your toes. But, seriously, so glad you found him - he is an important member of your tribe - he needs to stay around.
DoI remember wrongly or did you say you were seeing Nu last weekend - or maybe it is this coming weekend?

  19. That gave me a jolt...it's so worrying when cats don't come home. Very happy for you that Albert was found safe and sound.

  20. John, you scared me half to death with that title! Am so glad Albert is home safe and sound, and the worst thing that happened to him was a missed meal. Though I'm sure you could have done without the excitement.

  21. Aww, I love that Albert greeted the dogs! And I'm glad he turned up; I was getting worried reading through the post.

    Is Trevor on anti-coagulents indefinitely?

  22. What a way to find him, or him to find you!

  23. I saw your post header and panicked. Now I feel better and don't you wish they could tell us about the adventures they go on? Of course he might have just been sleeping for awhile and woke up all "are we still here? I'm ready to go home". Ha. Glad all is well.

  25. Years ago my cat was trapped in the neighbors' garage, she was terrified when the automated door opened so hid every time. At very quiet times I could faintly hear her yowling. So frustrating! The neighbors knew something was up what with all the footprints all over their car...

  26. That's hilarious.

  27. John, I'm so happy you found your naughty cat. My Winken (also a black cat)who goes in out in out every time the door opens, never came home after dinner on 1/23, and I haven't been able to find her. I'm heart-broken about this.

  28. Albert gave us all a big scare! Anyone who has ever had an animal go missing - even temporarily - knows that horrible feeling. So glad the story had a happy ending!

  29. Well, that had a happy ending. Glad you found him. I wonder what kind of adventures he had there.

  30. Kitties. They’re absolutely independent but will chew you up if you don’t feed them on time.
    Glad you found him!

    XoXo

  31. I was horrified there for a minute! I worry about Albert being outside where anything could happen to him. I've had too many outside cats get killed on the road. I believe I truly know your huge relief when he showed up - now it's so funny when you think about it. Cats do the damndest things.

  32. I love a happy ending! Give Albert an extra skritch for me!

  33. Whew! I was panicked for a moment. Glad he turned up, the little bastard. XO

  34. My heart can't take scares like that, John! Yes, I think that's exactly what Albert was thinking when he shot out of Trevor's kitchen. I have 5 black cats and some unfeeling bastards think because of their color, they are fair game. Mercy me, I was scared for old Al!

  35. Bloody cats! I'm glad he's okay.

  36. You are SO not allowed to raise our blood pressure in fright for your beautiful cat. Shame on you.

  41. Like everyone else I was holding my breath while reading this. I am so glad he is back home safe and sound.

  42. What a relief! I suspect that Trevor was holding Albert hostage before trying to secure a ransom. You can't trust anybody these days.

    ReplyDelete
  43. Trevor hadn't noticed his guest until this morning as he slipped on his shoes and felt the delight of squelchy toes.

    ReplyDelete
  44. What a relief! Hilarious that Trevor didn't even know he was there. Do you suppose Albert raided the fridge during the night?

    ReplyDelete
  45. ALBERT! You had us all scared out of our wits!! Cats!!

    ReplyDelete
  46. So happy Albert is alive and well.

    ReplyDelete
  47. So glad he appeared for both of you.

  48. You had me worried...so glad he's back home. Cats have a way of finding adventures for themselves.

    ReplyDelete
  49. Oh thank god!!! My heart was in my mouth when I read the heading and when I read on about the last time Albert was missing my heart was about to give out; bloody curiosity of cats... I know where that can lead.
    All's well ....

  50. Like you need more stress. Cats love getting shut in places. Our disappeared for 2weeks. Never found out where he was. He still gets shut in places.

  51. We have to double check any shed that happen to have been in before we lock it up ... otherwise we have exactly the same few hours of worry before we eventually see a little Ginger face at a window patiently waiting.

Nice that he greeted his furry family when he got home ... he most likely blames you completely for his incarceration with Trevor.

    ReplyDelete
  52. Hahaha where the fuck have you been indeed. That made me chuckle.

    ReplyDelete
  53. I am thinking Albert has left a surprise package somewhere for your friend Trevor after 24 hrs in confinement :)

    ReplyDelete
  54. And I wonder if Albert knew that Trevor was there? If he had he woud have surely asked him for help (or food). Or is Trevor one very scary fellow?
