It's a wild night outside and the living room is lit only by the fire and some battery run Christmas lights hung around my beloved Manhattan snow globe on the mantelpiece.
The wind is howling around the cottage almost with a roar.
My remaining dogs ( and cat) are all curled up with me on the sofa......sleeping the night away
I love that photo. Hope you don't have to venture outside.
ReplyDeleteHey is that the famous Yeppoon surfing santa Lurking on your mantel. Take Care John
ReplyDeleteJan xx
It is a gift from a dear friend in Sydney
DeleteSame here weather wise - horrible night.
ReplyDeleteBought myself a snow globe for Christmas this year - Santa flying over a village.
Plenty of cider... mulled or otherwise. Warms the cockles
ReplyDeleteYou can't beat a nice drop of cider.
DeleteI hope you don't have to go out in it! x
ReplyDeleteEnjoy your cosy cottage
ReplyDeleteSounds cozy and wonderful, I love the sound of strong wind, the look and warmth of a fire, staying in with my furry family.I hope you have a favorite blanket and pillow nearby.-Mary
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful picture - the one you have taken and the one you describe with your dear furry family.
ReplyDeleteHence the words, "The weather outside is frightful but the fire is so delightful..." It's good to be warm and cozy with good furry friends snuggled around and the lighting down low. Lovely photo.
ReplyDeleteHugs!
I think if the weather doesn't bother the furry ones, it shouldn't bother us. I think that's how it goes.
ReplyDeletetry not to make the mistake I make .. I snuggle up with the cats when it is stormy out and all that purring and soft warmth, puts me to sleep, every time, never fails ´
ReplyDeleteI love the sound of the wind and rain battering our cottage, but then feel guilty for all those living on the streets. Stay in and stay cosy with your furries.
ReplyDeleteWarm and cozy in your cottage with your furry friends close by sounds peaceful, John. Sleep well!
ReplyDeletestay inside and cuddle close together.
ReplyDeleteSnuggle up John with the furry family. Home in the warm on a wild night is the best place to be.
ReplyDeleteI hope you sleep well and deeply as the wind rages outside.
ReplyDeleteSweet dreams. That is one classy snow globe!
ReplyDeleteIm a classy bitch
DeleteJohn:
DeleteNo bitch... just classy... OK, maybe a little rough around the edges, but still classy.
I love lying in bed listening to weather like this outside.
ReplyDeleteIt's a still night here.
ReplyDeleteWe live very high up in the Pennines crikey it's windy tonight. You paint a lovely picture John, stay cosy xx
ReplyDeleteSounds very cozy.
ReplyDeleteVery similar here ... no snow globe, but a cosy log burner, snoring animals and lots of little twinkling lights. And it's blowing a hooly outside.
ReplyDeleteI can empathize a bit, as I have been laid up pre- and post-eye surgery, mostly on the couch in the company of the dog and cat. And now a winter storm is barreling across the plains toward us, so I will certainly have my fill of cold weather cuddling soon. Warm thoughts your way in the meantime!
ReplyDeleteSounds like the beginning of a gothic novel...keep writing, John!
ReplyDeleteI love to lay in bed and listen as nature howls and screams outside! Stay safe and warm!
ReplyDeleteFrom your post title, I was hoping it meant YOU were out having a wild night! Oh well, being cozy at home has its charms.
ReplyDeleteJohn, I love evenings like that. No TV, no radio; just the sound of howling wind, and dogs snoring.
ReplyDeleteLovely. What in German would be called 'gemuetlich'! No English word for it but we all recognise it.
ReplyDeleteWindy down here as well. Ugh!
ReplyDeleteOh that looks so cozy!.I broke my snow globe.Id had it for about 35 years, carefully packed away in bubble wrap every Jan.A musical old style Santa that rotated as it played. This year as I got the box of Christmas stuff out,one thing fell out on the garage floor...my beautiful snow globe.I was gutted!xx
ReplyDeleteWhat a horrible night it was! Rain lashing the bedroom window and winds gusting around the chimney, rattling the slates. This really is December!
ReplyDeleteAbout the only plus of being almost completely deaf is to take one's hearing aids out at bed time on such a night.
ReplyDeleteAs to dogs and cat - lucky them and lucky you too = they would be keeping you warm.
Rest well and stay warm
ReplyDeleteSeemingly like most commenters here I LOVE a storm (well, if I'm snuggled up warm inside). Yesterday was gloriously sunny then in the evening all hell broke loose. I love it although on occasion I do wonder if it might bring trees down. I guess that's what growing up in Britain does for you - you appreciate the bad weather right! I used to spend all my summer holidays in Betws-y-Coed with my gran. The weather was invariably crap but by golly you get to like it don't you! I've been "over here" in Europe for almost 40 years and get to hear how my colleagues hate "this weather" when I just think "wow, I love it". Anna
ReplyDeleteMy parents house was (is) on a hill on the edge of the Pennines. The wind would come in over the Irish sea, across the Lancashire plane and the first obstacle in its way was the corner of the house near my bedroom as a teenager. I used to lie awake listening to the shipping forecast on a transistor radio. My bed was pushed up against the central heating radiator and was warm. I did like a good storm as it made everything seem cosier.
ReplyDeletehad one here too, howling winds and heavy rains. wind is still howling this morning though the rain has about stopped.
ReplyDeleteLast night was crazy cold here as well. I'm also laughing at your last post about the cops coming after you for singing, that happens when I sing in my car also, only difference is I get stopped for bad singing and not because they thought I was on the phone! :)
ReplyDeleteThat sounds wonderful, actually. We had rain last night but I doubt it was as blustery here.
ReplyDeleteI have exactly the same snow globe and I love it too.
ReplyDeleteSaks fufth avenue
DeleteThe dogs and cat are indeed the wise ones.
ReplyDeleteThe dogs and cat have the right of it this night.
ReplyDeleteLovely photo John, sounds like the perfect evning to stay home by the fire.
ReplyDeleteFabulous photo John, love that snow globe. I love a good storm, but fortunately here in Auckland we don't seem to get them with the intensity I remember as a kid. Hailstorms however, we get them on occasion, the last about 6 weeks ago... blinking things decimated my lettuces in the veg garden! Hope you had a restful night with the fur babies despite the blow outside.
