I'm tired
It's a kind of wasted day after a night shift and I'm cuddled up with George on the couch.
He's got a bout of enteritis and is lying with a hot water bottle on his tummy.
We've not had a poo for a couple of hours though which is good
The living room is bathed in small pools of light, which makes a change from the pools of poo which decorated it in the last 24 hours
My Art Deco bear and hippo glimmer alongside various scented candles, a glowing fur cone and the deep red pulse of the lot burner
And the living room really feels like home
awwwww Looks like home to me.
ReplyDeletecheers, parsnip
Your cottage always looks homely and cosy. I hope George continues to improve so that you can relax with the pets rather than scoop up!
ReplyDeleteYou are the best pet owner ever!
ReplyDeleteGeorge would concur
DeleteIt is home,.,.,and I am so sorry about the enteritis and cleanup. You are wonderful.
ReplyDeleteNice and cosy. x
ReplyDeletePoor old George. I know the feeling.
ReplyDeleteLucky George to have a hot water bottle, and an understanding human to clean up the mess and comfort him. Enjoy your cuddle time and I hope his innards have finally settled.
ReplyDeleteHe's not a sickly dog and doesn't play on it...
Delete"And the living room really feels like home", reading that made me feel more glad for you than almost anything you have written in a long time, John. Places and moments like that are such treasures. I dearly hope whatever winning combination is making that happen will be yours whenever you want it to be. -Mary
ReplyDeleteMary as perceptive as always x
DeleteThat last sentence is encouraging. I hope George is over the worst (the worst for him AND you). I know what it's like, on both counts :) Have a lazy day and rest up.
ReplyDeleteIt's been incredibly lazy
DeleteAwww that looks so inviting! Glad George seems to be on his way to recovery.
ReplyDeleteXoXo
The right light, makes a space. Rest well.
ReplyDeleteTomorrow will be my early night
DeleteMy Betty is suffering from diarrhoea, so I feel your pain. Hope George is himself soon. You take care of yourself.
ReplyDeleteHope Betty is ok soon too
DeletePoor George. Hope he is better soon. Your living room looks so cosy. Love the lights. Good to hear you are feeling so “ at home” there. Xx
ReplyDeleteI've lived there since 2005 so I should feel at home x
DeletePools of light ALWAYS but always are preferable to pools of poo.
ReplyDeleteLove the warm and comfortable ambiance in that photo.
Cottages suit low lighting
DeleteWhat a charming sitting room you have with the puddles of lamplight for illumination. Bliss!
ReplyDeleteHope George is feeling much better and is over the poo phase of his illness. Your presence and the hot water bottle must both feel awfully good to him.
Hugs!
Within two months all of the dogs have been ill ...it's getting tiring AND expensive
DeleteBreathe deeply. Exhale. Repeat. Contentment, well deserved. Once more. Go to bed when desired. XXOO
ReplyDeleteOff to bed soon, but not too early, I intend to go to bed tomorrow very early
DeleteI love the pools of light on dark nights, we still have our Dec's up, so glittery here.
ReplyDeleteMy tree is. Down and planted in the garden
DeleteAs a precaution, I have already been in touch with Rhyl Community Fire Station. Just in case.
ReplyDeleteI love a man in uniform
DeleteSo do I.. x
DeleteLooks like a cosy home to me. Enjoy! Hope George feels better soon.
ReplyDeleteHe's had rice and chicken for dinner
DeletePoor George, poor you, no wonder you're tired. I hope you get to keep the grandfather clock, it's a handsome piece.
ReplyDeleteYes I am keeping it, i grew up with 2 dear friends nearby.....it was their parents' clock
DeleteI agree with you. When I get home at night, I often have only an odd small lamp and mostly candles lit. Listening to classical and having wine. Some nights that's it too. No telly.
ReplyDeleteYou old culture vulture xxx
Deleteit IS home when you have a warm furry body next to you like wee georgie. hope he feels better soon.
ReplyDeleteHello John
ReplyDeleteI am thankful for your generous sharing of your life. Your love and kindness to our animal friends is a gift a delight and a model.
I am a bit confused with leaving comments...have followed you for a while...am also a nurse of many years in the USA...love all that you share and again I thank you ...please continue to take care
I hope George is better soon
ReplyDeletep.s. we buy promax online it keeps for a few years the rescue centre we got the dogs from told us to buy it and use it till we could get to a vet or if it worked on the 2nd day just to continue. if by the 2nd day it didnt help then to the vets quick. A lot of dogs when they move from a rescue home to their forever home have problems with their digestion. touch wood we only needed it the once and that was because one of them was eating plants in the garden. We spent a fortune at the vets to be told, dig it up, chicken and rice for a week (I used the slow cooker on a whole chicken and 2 pints of water, fed them the stripped chicken and the cooking water), and give him a squirt of promax each day. we do this for 2 days now before we hoof it to the vets, like they said. else I am a terrible fuss and want to take them to the vets at the first sign of anything as I worry about it all. Good thing I dont have kids! lol
DeleteHappy New Year John, slam the door on the old one !
ReplyDeleteI hope he's soon feeling better.
ReplyDeletePoor old George I hope he feels better soon. The light in your cottage is very inviting... I love low lighting it always makes me sleepy. Before I forget, as we are ahead of you, HAPPY NEW YEAR! May all that you desire come to you easily in 2019. xx

Anonymous took the words right out of my mouth.
ReplyDeleteI think that is what is called peace, John. I hope you have many more evenings like that.
ReplyDeleteI'd like to bring my very old Grandfather Clock out here; it would complete the scene. It's so reassuring listening to that tick tock in the half light of evening.... as have my ancestors back to 1735, when the clock was made.
ReplyDeleteHappy New Year!
ReplyDeleteWishing you everything that's good for 2019
ReplyDeleteSoft lighting is comforting.
ReplyDeleteI am in Scotland where the oldies are asking the same questions over and over, the old Lurcher went mad on the beach with a young Lurcher and has strained her paw. Sister in law is here and her beloved cat in Vancouver is dying. The tonic for everyone is our puppy entertaining us all. It's sad and happy all at the same time.
You and George rest and relax and look forward to the New Year. I feel there are many good things just around the corner for you in the coming year. Bless you and the furbabies.
ReplyDeleteAh, poo-less bliss.
ReplyDeleteMay the new year be easier for you,John and your gang. Take care and thank you for your blog. I know 2018 was hard but you have brightened my days and moved me to tears. You have so many in your corner. All the best.
ReplyDeletePoor wee boy and poor you, having to clean up all that poop. Hope he's on the mend asap. You room looks very cosy and inviting and I'll bet those scented candles have come in very handy!
ReplyDeleteMy little beagle gets bloody diarrhea every 5-6 months. We've never figured out what causes it but she's always apologetic when it happens. Hope George feels better soon.
ReplyDeleteThe soft light . . .
ReplyDeleteFeels like home . . .
George cuddled . . .
I do hope he has turned the corner to feeling better.
What a love you are for George and all.
