I slept twelve hours last night and woke up to a marks and Spencer carrier bag of goodies left anonymously by the front door. Another package of a lovely winter scarf left by the postman was sent by blog reader Helen and yet another of dog treats left by the back door.
We are not going hungry this Christmas that's for sure..
Off to see
Mary Poppins this afternoon......it's a wet gray day
Gin for the dogs, and mini snags for you! Perfect.
ReplyDeletePractically perfect. xx
ReplyDeleteYou and your furry buddies are much loved, John! Wonder what you think of Mary Poppins? We thought it just ok, or "meh" as our son would say. The best scene, for us, was the lamp lighters dance and song. Other than that, totally forgettable. Sigh. Much love from Illinois.
ReplyDeleteAre food parcels a way of life in North Wales? Around here they leave a pile of muck at the front door and expect you to grow your own.
ReplyDeleteMake sure you eat the grub to soak up the gin John! What kind friendsand neighbours you have. Enjoy Christmas if you can!
ReplyDeleteLove that someone was made sure the dogs had a treat too besides the gin.
ReplyDeleteMerry Christmas, gayle
how nice of your village neighbors! will wait for your review; we are hoping to see this movie on xmess day.
ReplyDeleteJohn, Yet another demonstration of how highly you are valued - nay even loved! Despite your choice of spending Christmas day in the company of only your animals you will be in the hearts and minds of many, many people. Wishing a healthy and much happier 2019. Hugs Susan
ReplyDeleteHow wonderful
ReplyDeleteNobody deserves it more than you and the furries x it's people's way of loving you through this tough time Many hugs x
ReplyDeleteKindness, like a bit of sunshine.
ReplyDeleteI hope your experience of Mary P. is nearer to mine than that of Karla K. above. Totally forgettable? Not to me, no way! I'm just working out when I can go again. The perfect antidote to a miserable, wet, grey day. You should come out, one happy-smiley Gray!
ReplyDeleteI agree with you, Raybeard. Let’s hope John enjoys it as we did!
DeleteMe too, I loved it!
DeleteGood sleep, good times!
ReplyDeleteHugs!
Wow, you have a lot of people who care about you. I don't know the last time I got a package on my door from someone, let alone from a blog reader!
ReplyDeleteHave a great holiday and be thankful for the people who care!
Nice haul of goodies!
ReplyDeleteNothing beats sat in a cinema on a wet afternoon.
ReplyDeleteIt would seem that the universe and friends have conspired to ensure you have a lovely Christmas. Merry Christmas John from across the Atlantic.
ReplyDeleteMy kids took me out to see Mary Poppins yesterday and lunch out at a BBQ place. What fun! Merry Christmas.
ReplyDeleteBe interested to hear your opinion on the movie, I've read reviews that said it was excellent, others that said it was ordinary and predictable.
ReplyDeleteHappy Holidays, pal.
Mike
Have a lovely Christmas John. Better stuff on the horizon.
ReplyDeleteNice to see a village filled with Christmas spirit!!! Enjoy the movie dear.
ReplyDeleteIs a gray day the same as a grey day?
ReplyDeleteVery nice, indeed! Hope the film is as good as it looks. x
ReplyDeleteGoodness, it looks like the motherlode. Now eagerly awaiting a review.
ReplyDeleteSo glad the scotch eggs are front and center! Enjoy!
ReplyDeleteMuch needed sleep and lovely gifts. You and your pack are loved.
ReplyDeleteyour village is looking after you.
ReplyDeleteYou (and your furry family) are much loved.
ReplyDeleteLovely post John, cheered me up no end!
ReplyDeleteYou get what you give (mostly) in this world.
Geeze Marrie Pappins, who can forget Dick Van Dyke and his Cockanie accent in the original.
Enjoy the film and the goodies left on the doorstep, what l love is that nobody pinched them before you discovered the parcel!
Love Tess xx
John I am sure you know now just the level of love and support you have in that lovely Welsh village of yours.
ReplyDeleteTake care over Christmas - and much love. x
A good sleep! Now you are set for the holiday festivities.
ReplyDeleteNo worries about the wet gray day. Mary has a big umbrella.
ReplyDeleteI rarely go to the cinema...but I think I will make an exception for this new Mary Poppins... loved the original and hope it stands up against it. Just wanted to wish you a Very Merry Christmas John, your village obviously holds you very close to their hearts, and although we have never met I feel as though if I bumped into you in M & S we could just go grab a coffee and have a yarn and so I also feel the same way. Give a hug to the fur babies for me...have a peaceful time, eat what you want and I know 2019 will be a better year for you. Much love.
ReplyDeleteJo in Auckland.
We went to see it this afternoon too. Hope you enjoyed it as much as we did!?
ReplyDeleteHave a peaceful Christmas John, 2018 has been a bugger of a year here too and I for one can't wait to see the back of it. Here's to 2019 which I trust will be good to us all, I so wish I lived in your wonderful village your tales so restore my faith in human kindness. Enjoy your goodies with the fur babies.
