Countdown

The glass decoration course thing was cancelled until Tuesday so I had time to go to the Village Christmas Market
The place was packed.

Gwawr Jones sold me a bloody lovely roast pork sandwich  ( with stuffing and apple sauce )

Father Christmas ( aka Dave from the community council ) turned up on his motorbike and sidecar

I ended up buying all sorts of things I didn't really want!
But that's a given at these kind of events
2 expensive homemade Christmas Cards, a handmade wreath and a homemade felt star were carried home as a gaggle of school girls on the hall's stage, did the floss dance behind the main class who were massacring a Mariah Carey Christmas ditty

  5. I LOVE Trelawnyd! If I didn't have grandchildren and a lovely home in Suffolk I'd move there straight away.

  6. Ah, yes, but isn't the massacring of well-known songs a requirement at these occasions?!

And you're right, it's hard to walk away without buying something, and it helps keep these events alive. As does buying one's lunch, which is usually delicious. Sounds like a good day for the memory bank.

  7. That event sounds like fun and I would definitely buy a few things, especially handmade crafts and that delish sounding sandwich.

  8. How I love Christmas in a small town! We live in a small town and the Santa Bus just drove through our neighborhood bringing surprises to all the children. I hope you'll show us a picture of your wreath once it is in place!

  15. I used to envy your 'village life' tales my good man, but since moving here last February we are now enjoying all the tittle tattle, the warmth & friendliness, petty disputes, a feeling of fitting in and for the first time in too many years to remember of being home. It's good isn't it? all we need now are some chickens ;-)

  18. I love a village fair. It’s obligatory to but something you don’t really want or need - think of it as a charity donation rather than a purchase. It’s what gives a village its heart.

  19. I expect the wreath will come in handy, to lay on top of the grave where you're burying all those things you didn't really want; plus the dead ditty.

How sweet of you and others to support the crafters in your area. The things you purchased filled your tummy and will grace your home as well as warm two hearts (recipients of those homemade cards) or if the cards are framed they will become part of your future Christmases. What could be more perfect?

    Hugs!

  21. The roast pork sandwich sounds tempting! (And nothing says Christmas like a papier mache pig's head!). I once witnessed a stage full of pubescent girls do a lip sync, slinky dance rendition of 'Santa Baby'. It was cringe worthy. -Jenn

  22. Perhaps you could have helped out with the singing.

  23. Well Mariah Carey massacres her songs, I don't think anyone else could do a much worse job.
