I experienced my first man crush in the mid 1970s
I was watching an old western on tv and on the screen ambled the actor Clint Walker and from that moment on I think I'd always had an eye for a set of broad shoulders and an easy smile.
Yesterday at the vets I found staring at a strapping farmer type who was collecting livestock medication and I was caught looking by one of the receptionist
We both had the good grace to blush just a little
Clint Walker was one of my mum's pashes.
ReplyDeleteLove the "someecards" so Perfect !
ReplyDeletecheers, parsnip and badger
Oh my GOD, John! He was one of my first crushes too! Such a gorgeous man. You intrigued me enough with this post to go do a little googling about him. He was six and a half feet tall! No wonder I married a man who is even taller than that. Thanks for the memories. I can still remember the theme song for his show, "Cheyenne."
ReplyDeleteMs Moon, this brings back very early memories for me too!.The photo of him and you mentioning Cheyenne!.I am going to Google him right now.Thank you.xx
DeleteWell done that man. Easy to fall for a farmer as I can well remember.
ReplyDeleteOh my goodness, I loves me some Clint Walker! I watch "Night of the Grizzly" just to see him, and listen to that deep, velvety drawl of his. He had my little tween heart palpitating back in the day. I'm feeling a little flutter now. Those broad shoulders and narrow hips, YUMMERS!
ReplyDeleteMarried 46 years, but I can still appreciate Clint Walker as he was back in those days and others ...! I'm not dead yet. :)
ReplyDeleteGosh is it hot in here... or is it just me?!
ReplyDeleteMy what a big saw he has.
ReplyDeleteJP
I didn't know he'd died this May, CHF.
ReplyDeleteNice! I like nice shoulders and arms on a man.
ReplyDeleteYes. Arms are very useful. Especially in a war.
DeleteThe joys of nature proving we are not dead yet
ReplyDeleteMy own childhood crush was Grizzly Adams (Dan Haggerty) which was the earliest indicator of my lifelong passion for men with facial hair. The current trend for beards is both a blessing and torture.
ReplyDeleteYes I like beards , but only on men
DeleteMavis, me too! Me too! Not the beard part, mostly the gentle, huggable man living in a little cabin in the woods.
DeleteSpeaking of beards, I may be the only one here who had never heard this before, but I still laugh every time I think of it. A week ago a friend of mine interjected into a convo about beards, 'I had a beard in high school. She was a nice girl.' Is that not freaking hilarious????
DeleteFor a moment I thought I was looking in a mirror until I realised I wasn't holding a big wood saw.
ReplyDeleteOh God... I don't think I could get away with the hetero version of this post, but then again I am not as attractive to middle-aged American women as you are.
ReplyDeleteTry it and see what happens
DeleteMiddle-aged American women? The source of you information, please?
DeleteHe's bitter and jealous
DeleteLove his arms - I'm an arm woman...… would like to see him in a kilt too :)
ReplyDeleteSarahM
Oh good grief, that's done this menopausal woman no good at all!
ReplyDeleteI've never heard of Clint Walker before. The only actor I can currently get in over a tizzy iver is Jason Mamoa, never seen a thing he's in but he certainly pleases my eye!
Ugh. So hairy! (said the lesbian)
ReplyDeleteI've seeen a few hairy lesbians in my time
DeleteWe pride ourselves on never shaving! Well, not all of us... only the brave!
DeleteGobstopper
ReplyDeleteWhen I was a little girl, my older sister had a massive crush on Clint and never missed an episode of Cheyenne Bodie. I believe she still fancies the pants off him!
ReplyDeleteI expect probably the receptionist was sneaking her own looks at the farmer; you said she blushed, too!
ReplyDeleteI guess you don't want to hear about when I was a little kid I got to meet Clint Walker :)
ReplyDeleteHe picked me up and he was very tall . lol .. but I still fell in love with him.
I hate you, Candice! I kid. Just jealous.
DeleteSam Elliot and Sean Connery are still my favorites mainly because of their voices but it does help that they are handsome as well.
ReplyDeleteIf you'd like to see more of Clint, here's a link to the blog "Poseidon's Underworld" which is about movies and movie stars. https://neptsdepths.blogspot.com/2015/11/ive-got-clint-in-my-eye-today.html
ReplyDeleteBlush? She should just winked away your little secret.
ReplyDeleteI don't blame you for looking.
ReplyDeleteThat saw in the first picture looks a bit foreboding, though.
There is nothing wrong with looking! Too bad you couldn't get his picture for us to see!
ReplyDeleteBet he could play a mean tune on that saw!!Jason the Investigator on 'The Good Wife' is my latest squeeze.
ReplyDeleteDuring my teenage years, Clint Walker was my celebrity crush. What a beautiful man he was. I think he is still alive but I’d I rather not see what age did to him. I want to remember him in all his sexy glory.
ReplyDeleteI totally agree
DeleteWith Everything you said :)
He was super tall ..
DeleteSadly, he died in May. He was nine days short of his ninety-first birthday. So young.
Delete...so I googled Clint Walker--he was once pierced through the heart with a ski pole---but recovered and lived a long life after that. Wow.
ReplyDeleteI,too, had [have] that crush on Mr. Walker.
ReplyDeleteWe both have good taste, sir.
I do not know of him but he has a big saw there!

ReplyDeleteWhen I was younger (not THAT much younger) certain truly gorgeous men could render me nearly incoherent. They aren't the kind I would want to have a relationship with either. Too pretty! In at least one case I had to confess this to the person in order to be able to work together. To his credit he took this very well and we are still friends. And his height, twinkly eyes, deep voice and floppy hair still reac into my brain and twang me inner cavelady. Erg.
ReplyDeleteYou have fine fine taste JG
ReplyDeleteI too remember 'Cheyenne' and Clint Walker, though he did nuffink for me, then in my 'formative' years, when I was starting to pretend I 'liked' girls - or even later.
ReplyDeleteI see he died only this year - May, aged 90. He made a few films but the only memorable one was 'The Dirty Dozen' where he was uncomfortably cast against his goody-goody TV stereotype and, to me, was unconvincing.
I recall the big heart-throb of this era was Robert Horton from 'Wagon Train', who likewise had no pull for me, yet whose mere name mention got the girls screaming like demented banshees.
Only one for me, Gardner Mackay in Adventures in Paradise. Not so many muscles but a nice voice and a knack of losing his shirt in every episode, beats Mr. Darcy.
ReplyDeleteI don't know Clint Walker at all! How did I miss this?!
ReplyDeleteToo busy reading books and rescuing abandoned plants.
DeleteOooh ..... and I've never even heard of him. You have good taste 😁
ReplyDeleteNice. LOL
ReplyDeleteHeavens, I was not aware of Mr. Walker until now.
ReplyDeleteIsn't he lovely
DeleteI knew he was a hunk but I had no idea he had such a big... saw.
ReplyDeleteIt's massive
