Big Hunk Of Spunk

I experienced my first man crush in the mid 1970s
I was watching an old western on tv and on the screen ambled the actor Clint Walker and from  that moment on I think I'd always had an eye for a set of broad shoulders and an easy smile.
Yesterday at the vets I found staring at a strapping farmer type who was collecting livestock medication and I was caught looking by one of the receptionist
We both had the good grace to blush just a little

  3. Oh my GOD, John! He was one of my first crushes too! Such a gorgeous man. You intrigued me enough with this post to go do a little googling about him. He was six and a half feet tall! No wonder I married a man who is even taller than that. Thanks for the memories. I can still remember the theme song for his show, "Cheyenne."

  5. Oh my goodness, I loves me some Clint Walker! I watch "Night of the Grizzly" just to see him, and listen to that deep, velvety drawl of his. He had my little tween heart palpitating back in the day. I'm feeling a little flutter now. Those broad shoulders and narrow hips, YUMMERS!

Married 46 years, but I can still appreciate Clint Walker as he was back in those days and others ...! I'm not dead yet. :)

  12. My own childhood crush was Grizzly Adams (Dan Haggerty) which was the earliest indicator of my lifelong passion for men with facial hair. The current trend for beards is both a blessing and torture.

    1. Yes I like beards , but only on men

    2. Mavis, me too! Me too! Not the beard part, mostly the gentle, huggable man living in a little cabin in the woods.

    3. Speaking of beards, I may be the only one here who had never heard this before, but I still laugh every time I think of it. A week ago a friend of mine interjected into a convo about beards, 'I had a beard in high school. She was a nice girl.' Is that not freaking hilarious????

  14. Oh God... I don't think I could get away with the hetero version of this post, but then again I am not as attractive to middle-aged American women as you are.

  16. Oh good grief, that's done this menopausal woman no good at all!
I've never heard of Clint Walker before. The only actor I can currently get in over a tizzy iver is Jason Mamoa, never seen a thing he's in but he certainly pleases my eye!

  18. When I was a little girl, my older sister had a massive crush on Clint and never missed an episode of Cheyenne Bodie. I believe she still fancies the pants off him!

  19. I expect probably the receptionist was sneaking her own looks at the farmer; you said she blushed, too!

  21. Sam Elliot and Sean Connery are still my favorites mainly because of their voices but it does help that they are handsome as well.

  24. I don't blame you for looking.

That saw in the first picture looks a bit foreboding, though.

  25. There is nothing wrong with looking! Too bad you couldn't get his picture for us to see!

  26. Bet he could play a mean tune on that saw!!Jason the Investigator on 'The Good Wife' is my latest squeeze.

  27. During my teenage years, Clint Walker was my celebrity crush. What a beautiful man he was. I think he is still alive but I’d I rather not see what age did to him. I want to remember him in all his sexy glory.

  28. ...so I googled Clint Walker--he was once pierced through the heart with a ski pole---but recovered and lived a long life after that. Wow.

  32. When I was younger (not THAT much younger) certain truly gorgeous men could render me nearly incoherent. They aren't the kind I would want to have a relationship with either. Too pretty! In at least one case I had to confess this to the person in order to be able to work together. To his credit he took this very well and we are still friends. And his height, twinkly eyes, deep voice and floppy hair still reac into my brain and twang me inner cavelady. Erg.

  34. I too remember 'Cheyenne' and Clint Walker, though he did nuffink for me, then in my 'formative' years, when I was starting to pretend I 'liked' girls - or even later.
I see he died only this year - May, aged 90. He made a few films but the only memorable one was 'The Dirty Dozen' where he was uncomfortably cast against his goody-goody TV stereotype and, to me, was unconvincing.

I recall the big heart-throb of this era was Robert Horton from 'Wagon Train', who likewise had no pull for me, yet whose mere name mention got the girls screaming like demented banshees.

  35. Only one for me, Gardner Mackay in Adventures in Paradise. Not so many muscles but a nice voice and a knack of losing his shirt in every episode, beats Mr. Darcy.
