I was happy to help such a worthy cause even in my small way! Ta for making that possible. :)

  3. None of those funds would have been raised without your committing to do the zip line, despite your fear of heights, you're willing to take that on so others will benefit. In many other ways you've helped your village and neighbors, too. Many of your readers are dealing with heartaches of their own. You set a great example of how to cope and keep going by just doing the next right thing.Thank you,John, for all you do!-Mary

  4. Today is pay day so I've chipped in a little bit. As a fellow sufferer of fear of heights I can appreciate how big a challenge this is for you. Good luck!!

  5. John, I don't even know what a zip wire is but I'll gladly send a cheque for a tenner to The Samaritans if you can say where it to send it to.

  9. Fantastic total. Now all you have to do is jump off a platform with a wire attached to your back and hurtle towards the ground at 100 mph. I did something similar at a theme park. Hauled up into the air on the end of an elastic band, stretched taut, and released. It was like a giant swing, such fun.

    4. John, for paypal to work you have to set up a paypal account using that email address. It's not hard to do.

For people who want to pay that way, mark it as a personal gift so you avoid paypal charges otherwise they will take a percentage (15% if i remember right)

  13. You can then withdraw the funds from your Paypal account, transfer it to your bank account you used to set up Paypal and then put it into your fundraising account.

  14. I've never mastered PayPal and I've really tried. Maybe I have a popupblocker or my pc just doesn't like it. Whatever. It has always defeated me, and invariably at the last hurdle. I'm glad I still have my good old cheque book, but for how long? The banks want to do away with them. Every time I go in a bank someone asks me if I want to go electronic. Call me old fashioned but I detest the concept that a chip is in charge of my money and someone could delete it all with an inadvertent mouse click, or even a touch screen operator with a hangover somewhere in India. Or a computer on the blink. Or a solar flare could zap my paltry savings. It doesn't bode well.
