Last night I joined a conversational Welsh class in the next village
Bugger alone knows why, as I can't speak Welsh properly at all.....but at least it's a beginners class
And I've always wanted to do it properly
There was seven people in the group... I was the second only man there
At the " coffee and biscuit" break the only other bloke introduced himself
He's retired married, gay and comfortably friendly.
I told him immediately that I was separated
" I think you need a friend " he quipped after a time, but I know that he meant it,
And we shuffled over coffee cups
" my name is Jonathan !" he said
" John" I told him
And we bumped cups
I've found a friend

ReplyDeleteLets hope he has got some lovely unmarried friends to introduce you to!!
ReplyDeleteHope you don’t have to write any Welsh? X
And that is everything.
ReplyDeleteThat's great! And hey, if Jonathan's partner is named David, that would be TOO perfect.
ReplyDeleteEnjoy the class,
ReplyDeleteHow lovely, yes you do need a friend. Enjoy the Welsh too, I only know popty ping, but my partner loves the Welsh language.
ReplyDeleteOh John, I'm so happy for you. I've been sorry to see what you're going through but haven't posted because I've always been 70 or 80 comments behind. Been reading for years- Know that you're in my thoughts and wishing you all the happiness in the world.
ReplyDeleteAlso, part Welsh in this house - Llewellyn :)
DeleteVery nice, indeed! Also: to be able to speak Welsh would be tremendously cool. I've a friend who works in the TV business down in Cardiff. She's perfectly bilingual (as one must be, I should think).
ReplyDeleteI am so glad to read that you are getting out and making new friends and finding new experiences. It takes courage, bravery and, quite frankly, a lot of healing tears to move forward. Wish you well.
ReplyDeletePerfect ~

So good to see your efforts paying off. You're a role model, you know...
ReplyDeleteGood. It is sometimes hard to make friends as adults. Children offer to share a toy, or invite another to play in a game and friendships are soon made. But as adults, we are sometimes too reserved or set in our ways to make new friends. I'm happy for you. -Jenn
ReplyDeleteMae'n dda cael ffrindiau.

ReplyDeleteBig, big smiles from here.
ReplyDeleteWonderful!
ReplyDeleteHow do you say "Awesome!" in Welsh?
ReplyDeleteYou two will be speaking the lingo before one can say Llanfairpwyllgwyng................AND the rest!

Your'e doing it all right - getting out and talking to people, trying new things. Sometimes new friends in this situation are the best - they don't know you or your story, and have no pre-conceived judgements about the situation...
