No Words Needed

Central Station is a lovely film.
I've been clearing book shelves today and found an old copy DVD I thought I had lost
You don't need subtitles for this wonderfully moving final scene
Enjoy

  3. Well we are all different. It didn't do much for me. I'd rather go and shag someone. But that isn't going to happen.

  4. Having watched the clip my imagination has woven its own story around it.

Moving indeed. But then I am a sucker for children. Not least those left behind.

  6. After finding the film's plot on the internet I think it must be a very moving story. Are you fluent in Spanish, John? -Mary

  9. I will attempt to use my people reading skills and scant telenovela viewing experience to create subtitles for you:

    Dear José,

I am writing you this letter on a bus, because you know how I hate to fly. This letter will reach you before I get home. It's so hard to write on a moving bus. Seems like we're hitting every pothole in these twisting roads, and some a$$hole has the window wide open, letting in all this dust that's making my allergies act up, my eyes are watering, making it even harder to write. But I shouldn't complain too much, as we need to air out this bus. Some of these people smell like they haven't bathed in days! It reeks up in here!

There's also this weirdo filming us on the bus. Why is it that every idiot with a cellphone camera thinks they're a movie star or a big shot director, putting up lousy crap on YouTube and Instagram and calling it a film or work of art? I'm doing my best to ignore him, because it's never a good idea to talk to strangers on a bus--some of them might be weirdos, or God forbid, Jehovah's Witnesses or, even worse, Scientologists trying to save your soul.

Anyways, I looked at that pic of us from last year's Mardi Gras, and it made me smile. When I get home, be ready to go, because this year, for Carnival, we're going to Rio! We will samba the nights away, see the big statue of Jesus on the hill, do some shopping, and walk on Ipanema beach. But that's all we'll be doing is walking on the beach. We ain't swimming in that filthy water--Rio just empties its untreated sewers right into the bay, so all those supermodels and people are swimming in poo water! Gross!

That reminds me, don't forget to wear your sunscreen! I know how you like to run around shirtless in the hot sun and end up sunburned. And I have one more surprise for you. Before school starts, we're taking a cruise to Mexico! The brochure says that every voyage is a gay cruise! Sounds like loads of fun! We'll party on the ship and take fun excursions when we dock. We'll even try the finest Mexican cuisine at the local KFC!

Gotta go now. Take care. Much love to you. Peace out!

    Love, Dora.
