BORIS remembered

A jar of homemade Jam and a kind card left by Gentleman Farmer Ralph and Lady L on the garden gate was another treat today.......
Thank you both,
they only live up the lane.
At 3 pm two old men stopped at the kitchen wall for eggs, I thought one was  blogger CRO for a moment he looked so similar.. They were walkers with ski sticks and backpacks.
Both stopped for eggs 8 years ago and remembered the cottage
"How's Boris?" one guy asked and I broke the news that he died a good while ago

"I liked that old bird" the man said sadly

"SO did I " I told him with feeling

  3. Your two visitors must have been Nordic Pole Walkers - that's what we call them here.

  4. You saw walkers and just casually chatted them up?

    What would Daryl Dixon say?

  11. Some people keep meticulous diaries of their walking holidays. They could probably tell you the date and what time it was and what the weather was like and where they were walking from and to those many years ago. I know such people. They are called Austrians.

    1. I met a 92 year old Austrian living by himself in a railway station in the back of beyond up by you or was it going over to the slate quarries . . . I think he had chickens too. He'd over 100 now if he's still alive.

  12. What an amazing experience to have return visitors come back 8 years later and still remember your place, the eggs, and Boris! That must've been some fantastic turkey to be so memorable after all these years. Good of you to give Boris a loving home.

  16. The kindness of the villages (home-made Jam and a card) - how lovely!! Makes me wonder how you can leave such a place - or - are you going to stay in your lovely cottage and continue to enjoy village life and all it offers? Going to back track and read more about "Boris". What a lovely bird.

  17. They are amazing creatures... turkeys. The way they drum and blow out their chests and go an even deeper blue around the head - although I never cuddled mine. You both look mighty handsome :) Elle xx
