Under The Honeysuckle

I'm sat under the honeysuckle which shades the front door of the cottage.
I'm listening.
The buzz of bees on the flowers above my head dominate , but the bark of a dog over in the rectory, the thump of a faraway football and the faint tinkle of children playing far past the main road can be just made out over the chirp of the hedgesparrows.

Idyllic. Just a pity we can't actually smell the honeysuckle!

  7. I have seen the honeysuckle in flower this week too as I've walked my dogs-but it's been bittersweet without my darling top dog x

  8. What a lovely moment you describe. On my patio I have the gift of the scent of citrus, from my lemon tree, which grows in an oak wine barrel.

  11. What a magical place to be - thank you for sharing. Those moments make you want the world to experience them with you, and you've done that!

  12. I close my eyes and deep breath with contentment. With Anthony Bourdain’s demise in the news, and several close friends with the same demise. John, I’m not a world traveler but have friends from different cultures. I suffer from md but I’m content with the small things in life. I see others thinking they have what makes them happy and then it happens. 🙁 Gabs

  22. Up till recently I had seen so few bees I was wondering if they were all dying, but in the last few days I've seen loads of them. All is well in the bee world!
