Sometimes you just need to find a place in order to watch the world walk by.
Having only myself to cater for Mary and I took ourselves off to the Promenade at lunchtime.
It was overcast and spitting with rain, but Colwyn Bay was fairly busy with visitors so I found an empty bench and set out lunch
I had an advacado and cheese bagel and a skinny coffee.
Mary had a packet of sliced ham.
And we both sat for an absolute age and watched the world promenade in front of us.
sounds marvelous!
ReplyDeleteYou had everything you needed at that time, in that place .. How perfectly perfect .
ReplyDeleteIt's a good thing to have someone to people-watch with.
ReplyDeleteMy cat isn't there yet.
Yes, she keeps me company and keeps me sane
DeleteSounds like fun and Mary is getting so big.
ReplyDeletecheers, parsnip
What a good way to spend the afternoon. I love a spot of people watching and being by the seaside makes it perfect - and with a sweet dog to keep you company too.
ReplyDeletePeople-watching is a wonderful activity. By the sea makes it even better!
ReplyDeleteJust sitting and watching the world go by is a great thing to do. I'm always amazed watching people go here and there and wondering what they are doing, where they are going, what their story is. I could people watch for hours.
ReplyDeleteStop and smell the surf along the way.
ReplyDeletePeople watching is good for the soul. Everyone who passes by has a story to be told (that you make up for them).
ReplyDeleteAs Cro Magnon said, "a story you make up for them " ...
ReplyDeleteSometimes my husband and I would be sitting somewhere and end up people watching and he would make this little commentary, as if they were models or on stage ... he would have me falling over laughing ..
Sweet x
DeleteThat sounds like a wonderful way to spend some time!
ReplyDeleteGreat that you have one another on a day like today. A whole packet of sliced ham?????
ReplyDeleteAnd that is great living . . .
ReplyDeletePassers-by who noticed you must have thought "Now there's a man who's contented with life!" And, to a degree, I think they'd be right.
ReplyDeletePerfect.

People-watching! Sounds like fun!
ReplyDeleteWhere was the rest of the crew? Home with Prof as a babysitter?
ReplyDeletebtw, you always drink odd coffees...flat white/ skinny regular etc, sounds like you have a Starbucks in the village?
A whole packet of ham? All that grease and salt? Barf time later....
Delete''The favorite choice for the term "Bagels" is 1 regular Bagel which has about 270 calories.'' [avocado, cheese]????
DeleteNo Prof is away working
DeleteIt used to be that seaside visitors ate fish and chips or candyfloss... now they go for avocado and cheese bagels with a skinny coffee. What is the world coming to?
ReplyDeleteWe all are going cosmo
DeleteYou sound wistful.
ReplyDeleteThoughtful......
DeleteLovely and relaxing. No scotch egg?
ReplyDeleteThey are like drugs. One bite and I'd be hooked again
DeleteI'm impressed that young Mary would sit and watch with you! I would have thought she'd be wanting to tear around.
ReplyDeleteSounds like a lovely way to spend some time. And to think that a few weeks ago you couldn't have sat there without a snowsuit on.
Welsh terriers sit and watch..it's part of their personality
DeleteSounds pleasant, but I'm surprised Mary didn't get restless just sitting and looking. I gather she's an older dog.
ReplyDeleteNo she's only three
DeleteWhat a lovely afternoon for you and Mary. It sounds like you are going to miss the area when you move. I hope you and the Professor can find a special place where you will all be happy when you move.
ReplyDeleteColwyn Bay Beach is lovely, one of my favourite beaches along the north wales coast and we used to enjoy just sitting in the car for a while enjoying the view.
ReplyDeleteIt sounds blissful. For you, and for Mary.
ReplyDeleteSounds blissful. You can't beat a bit of people watching at the seaside ... especially with a tasty snack and a canine companion ❤
ReplyDeleteWhy didn't you take George???? I love him :)
ReplyDeleteA seaside view, a picnic in the car and some companionable silence; how lovely! It sounds like you're embracing retirement.
ReplyDeleteLucky you! Amazes me that some people don't like to be alone. I love brief respites like you get to just do what I want and not have to worry about any other person for a while.
ReplyDeleteOne of those ham slices would have gone so well with the cheese and avo!
ReplyDeleteIt sounds delightful, dogs are great company
I think you needed this day.
ReplyDeleteWhat a lovely way to spend a beautiful day. People watching is fun. I even enjoy it when I go on vacation. Now I'm curious, What kind of ham did Mary have? And how are the fish and chips in the area?
ReplyDeleteSounds idyllic. I could use a day like that. Can I borrow Mary? And an avocado. And a cheese bagel.
