Leather gift?
I only say this because the ever curious Albert had seen the fact and after standing on the cistern in order to scan the shelves he had knocked several of the Prof's toiletries into the un flushed bowl
Not an auspicious start to our anniversary day!
I fished them out using a set of kitchen tongs...
Anyhow
We've been married three years today.
Three bloody years!
Now according to Wikipedia I should be buying The Prof a gift made from leather!
Oh err missus .....leather chaps perhaps?
They are few and far to be had in Sunny Trelawnyd .
The nearest thing I can think of as a leather anniversary gift is a nice rump steak!
I'll pop down to Marks' later to get one.
At our wedding, my best friend Nuala made a speech. I remember her saying how wonderful it was living in a time where two men who loved each other could get married. " How fantastic is that? !" She said to the room and she was right.
The Prof and I are fortunate to live in an age where we can officially tie the knot and bask in those benefits formally enjoyed by the hetero brigade!
I can refer to the man that I haven chose to share my life with as husband
Not boyfriend, man friend , significant other or partner
But husband!
Things have changed so very much......
ps A big thank you to Wendy R.J ! who gave me a bunch of anniversary flowers while I stood in the supermarket
Changed for the better, congratulations and happy anniversary.

DeleteYou just so are not going to tell Prof about the fallen into the bowl toiletries, nor fishing them out with kitchen tongs. It simply cannot be three years since your married. It was last year, I am sure. I remember it vividly.
ReplyDeleteof course not! I ran the most expensive bottles under the tap....no harm done
DeleteDoesn't he read this blog lol?
DeleteYes! But forgets a lot , thank goodness
DeleteCongratulations. Hope you have a wonderful time celebrating. Leather doesn't do a thing for me. My man in a DJ however...
ReplyDeleteI have a DJ !
DeleteWhat is a DJ then..?
DeleteMaybe ''dinner jacket"?
Deleteperhaps a leather hat, similar to the man in the picture..Pirate has an Australian one, very good in the wet !!
ReplyDeleteI bought him a ticket to the ballet...lets hope some one is wearing leather!
DeleteI'm so pleased you got to see these times, for yourselves and for all of us
ReplyDeletewe are all the better for these changes ,,,all of us
DeleteTalking of cowboys, I have only just discovered that they wear leather 'shaps', not 'chaps'. It's a shame, really. Only you could have a dog push your husband's toiletries into an unflushed bowl in a post about your anniversary.
ReplyDeletechaps sound better!
DeleteBlazing Saddles...
DeleteThey are Chaps in the US
DeleteSays the girl born in the Desert South West p
I must declare that I have never, ever bought a steak from M&S. You must be made of money young man! Happy Anniversary!

DeleteI gave a father of the bride speech at the end of December. My daughter has a lovely wife and I have a delightful daughter in law. Congratulations to you both.
ReplyDeletehow lucky they are to have you
DeleteLots of things come to mind... first and foremost Happy Anniversary!
ReplyDelete2. One that always puzzles me does the Prof call you his husband? Why? Because a lesbian friend of our ours calls her partner, husband? Am I missing something here, being lesbian means you’re not into men, why would you call your other half husband? I don’t get it!
3. Was the pan sporting the contents of poo or pee? Only asking...
LX
I'm not with you. He calls me his husband because I am his husband
DeleteI think she's saying that both you AND her lesbian friend refer to your partners as husband, and she wonders why the lesbian couple aren't wife/wife as you are husband/husband. Does it vary by couple? That would be confusing, lol!
DeleteShe wants to know why he doesn't call you the wife.
Deletewhy would he? I'm not the wife..im the husband
DeleteYes, and lesbian couples do NOT commonly refer to each other as "husband" either. Many don't even like using the term "wife."
DeleteHow about "spouse"? Gender neutral.
DeleteAlthough, sometimes you will hear the cutesy, 'hersband' and maybe that's what the woman said.
Deletehusband and husband.
DeleteYes, we are husband and husband
DeleteHAPPY ANNIVERSARY! it seems like only yesterday...

ReplyDeleteWhere the flippin eck have three years gone? It seems like last week that you were planning the big day. Happy Anniversary to you both.x
ReplyDeleteHappy anniversary and congratulations.
ReplyDeleteHappy Anniversary!
ReplyDeleteAs a bisexual woman, I fully supported the campaign to change the law but, being happily married I never expected to directly feel the benefits. Well, a year ago my partner decided to transition. Without the law change we would have had to divorce in order for her to apply for a Gender Recognition Certificate. Even the thought of that terrifies me. So thankfully I will remain a happily married woman.
Thank you for being so honest x
DeleteHappy Anniversary to you both!!
ReplyDeleteHappy , happy Wedding Anniversary John and Chris ...... enjoy the leather !!!! XXXX
ReplyDeleteIt tasted lovely
DeleteA very Happy Anniversary to you both. X
ReplyDeleteX
DeleteHappy anniversary! I'm grateful I have lived to see more acceptance of same-sex marriage. I'm very happy you and your husband find the community of your small town welcoming of your union.
ReplyDeleteWe've not had a bad reaction, but then we don't go looking for one
DeleteHave a lovely day together and a very happy wedding anniversary.

ReplyDeleteHAPPY ANNIVERSARY to Mr & Mr Burton Gray!
ReplyDeleteChris and you tied the knot six days after my son and daughter in law's wedding, it was a good time for lots of people!
For their anniversary this year we gave them money, but as an extra, bought them a rather lovely leather fly swat for when the weather warms up! X
Our full title! Thanks col x
DeleteLots of places sell braided leather bracelets. You could both wear one for this year of the leather anniversary. Congrats!!
ReplyDeleteI could but a steak is easier
DeleteCongratulations John and Prof. I have gay friends like you and their feelings are just the same. Not all that long ago (certainly within my lifetime)you would been breaking the law. What's wrong with a leather bag, wallet, shoes, slippers, waistcoat?
ReplyDeleteThanks pat..did you get the photo I emailed u?
DeleteHappy Anniversary-x-
ReplyDeleteXx
DeleteHappy Anniversary John and Chris. Seems like the big day was just last year....happy to hear that you are celebrating the day....enjoy the ballet...Mardy. 🇨🇦
ReplyDeleteThank you Marcy bum
DeleteThat was supposed to be Mardy bum
DeleteCongratlations on number 3....leather eh?...hmmmm...wallet, belt, cel phone holder...... I kind of like the 'steak' idea.
ReplyDeleteStomach love
DeleteGoodness, that means I've been reading your blog for more than three years! Doesn't seem that long. Congratulations to you both, and yes it's great to live in these times.
ReplyDeleteI've known some commentators nearly a decade here
DeleteHappy Anniversary to you and the Prof! Time sure is flying. It doesn't seem like it's been 3 years.
ReplyDeleteSo...who forgot to flush?
Three guesses
Delete♥️
DeleteHappyAnniversary :) It deserves to be said Twice .. or more !
ReplyDeleteCheers chuck x
DeleteCongratulations to you John & The Prof.Thank goodness things have changed for the better. My mum had 2 male cousins who weren't able to live their life as they wished sadly. They would have
ReplyDeletebeen in their 80s now x
I would have hated growing up in the 40s
DeleteHappy Anniversary gentlemen! Yes I think that title of HUSBAND is important, to me anyway. I am the same, I don't want to spend the rest of my life calling someone I love.. partner... ewww, sounds like we run a business together.
ReplyDeleteI hate that husband wife debate, we are gay couples, not a heterosexual couples, they still see through the heterosexual lens. There is a great cartoon out there with two spoons as a married couple and a married couple consisting of a fork and knife, the second couple says to the spoons, "which one of you is the fork"? Straight people often don't get the joke.
I like the analogy
DeleteHappy Anni, JayGee - and I'm sure Albert was only trying to make it a day to remember - and succeeding, bless him! :-)
ReplyDeleteCheers raymondo!
DeleteCongratulations.
ReplyDeleteSpeaking of leather, why not go for the Fonzie look?
With grey hair!?
DeleteHappy Happy Anniversary! Cheers to many more!
ReplyDeleteCheers bob
DeleteHow lovely, are you sure it's 3 years? seems like about 5 mins! It's fab that we can finally marry who we love, not who society decides we should love x
ReplyDeleteAnd do so legally
DeleteI can not believe it has been 3 years in my mind it has been John and the Prof.
ReplyDeleteI am remembering all the lead-up to the wonderful day. It was very exciting for your friends across the pond to be included.
Happy Anniversary !
cheers, parsnip
Three years ...just seems like yesterday
DeleteWe got married in New York, it still wasn't legal here. I can't believe we've been married longer than you have, I just assumed you had been together for a long time.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations.
We've been together two decades! A wedding in New York how lovely
DeleteHappy anniversary!

DeleteI always say to people on their wedding day "may you always feel about each other the way you do today"
ReplyDeleteAnd so this is what I wish for you on the anniversary of your wedding day.x
Sweet x
DeleteJust don't cook the steak to the consistency of leather and it will be all good :)
ReplyDeleteHappy, happy anniversary to you both. I can't believe it's been three years already!
The streak was lovely . But it's an early night for the Prof he is up at 3.30 am tomorrow morning

Delete1.Why was the toilet unflushed?

3. Thank you
Happy anniversary! Maybe you could get him a designer tux-harness like the one Adam Rippon wore to the Oscars!
ReplyDeleteOff to google
DeleteHappy anniversary! We celebrated ours last week. I have always been so grateful that I could tell my boys they could love anyone they chose without hiding or fearing prosecution... To have openly available role models of all inclusive love for them has been such a blessing to me as a mom. I remember some of my mother's closeted gay friends and their struggles when I was a kid, it was so confusing that they had to hide.
ReplyDeleteWe are all so pleased that gay folks can get married too. A big congratulations from us!!
ReplyDeleteHappy Anniversary to you both!
ReplyDeleteIt's so lovely to read how much you love your husband. We've been married 32 years and love him just as much now as I did then. Happy Anniversary to you both. Enjoy your special day.
ReplyDeleteYes, it's fabulous that two men or two women can marry. Happy Anniversary.
ReplyDeleteThree years? Are you sure? If asked I would have said it was the day before yesterday. Or last year if pushed.
ReplyDeleteI am so very glad that you continue to experience wedded bliss. And that my slow country has finally joined the party.
Happy Anniversary both xxx
ReplyDeleteWe were married for 33 years and I hope you two enjoy the way it just keeps getting better as each year goes by.
ReplyDeleteHappy Anniversary to you both, those three years have gone so fast..my daughter and her wife celebrate 5 years this year and another daughter has booked January 2019 so I gain another daughter-in-law ....how lovely of Wendy R.J to give you flowers she’s such a sweetie x
ReplyDeleteOne of life's nice people ...as you are debbie
DeleteHappy Anniversary to you both!
ReplyDeleteHappy Anniversary from Maine, USA!
ReplyDeleteYou raised my blood pressure with this post John!! OF COURSE you should have equal rights ...... the fight, particularly in the church has been so l-o-n-g, so frustratingly slow so mom us have got past the point of tolerance. Deep Breath now Virginia.... in, out, in out....
ReplyDeleteHappy Anniversary to you both. May you enjoy many, many years of contented, loving marriage together. XoX
P.S. it was our 42nd Wedding Anniversary yesterday.... we went out to a great Italian restaurant... shared Capaccio and breads, I had veal scaloppine and Bill had lasagne.... followed by Tiramisu. All delicious.
ReplyDelete... The very Italian waiter could tell we'd been married a while - I'd brought a Sudoku and Bill had his Crossword!!
Congratulations to you both and I hope that you have many more wonderful years together.
ReplyDeleteCongrats to the both of you! My husband and I married almost 10 years ago in Holland, but recently gay marriage became also possible in Australia, where we live now :-).
ReplyDeleteLate to the party but Happy anniversary to you both from Montreal!
ReplyDeleteHappy Anniversary and many more, from upstate New York.
ReplyDeleteYou're so right about the word "husband". It shows a real level of commitment. So many people today talk about their "partner" when it's someone they've been with for about five minutes. Happy Anniversary!
ReplyDeleteThe rumped wonder in the photo is a much better idea than the rump steak, if you want my opinion. Happy anniversary.
ReplyDeleteHappy Anniversary! Much prefer this world where one can legally commit their life to The One they love and wish to pledge "...all my worldly goods..." The age of the person is what matters in my opinion. Too many young people marry before they know who they really are and just what a commitment marriage really is!
ReplyDeleteXx thank you and to all of the other commentators I have not had chance to reply to x
