Going Gently Has been going for eleven years! ELEVEN BLOODY YEARS!
Can You bloody well believe it....?
So far, boosted no doubt by internet malfunctions It has had 6 million hits! SIX MILLION
How wonderfully nerdish is that?
Ok, it's brittle and shallow and indulgent,
And a view of a small life in an even smaller world
But it IS a generally honest view of how I see my life......it really is
And that's a fact that I am rather proud of !
Your Laughing Horse Life Achievement Award was richly deserved. When you began Going Gently I bet you had no idea it would carry on for eleven years with more years to come! Congratulations sir!
ReplyDeleteMy friend ...I had no idea at all......and I am so grateful, for the contacts I have made xxx
DeleteYou have every reason to be proud of what you have done here. The planet --roiling in conflicting opinions and uncertainty-- has need of your village and especially your descriptions of its doings. To so many of us who read your posts, they represent enjoyable calms between political storms --even while relating to them. You may have retired from nursing, but you are no less a nurse than I am a gardener (ret.2009).
ReplyDeleteYou have been around a long time with me, thank you
DeleteYou are fabulous at blogging. I hope it holds your interest for at least another eleven years! Visiting is a part of my day every day.
ReplyDeleteThank you Jill , I'm shallow enough to love the praise x
DeleteYou have been a follower for a long time Geo
ReplyDeleteThank you for that

DeleteIt's a lovely blog that gives us a glimpse into your life and we appreciate it so very much. Many more 'hits' and posts to come I hope.
ReplyDeleteI love reading about your life, John. You are a wonderful storyteller and I thank you for sharing it.
ReplyDeleteJimbo you are a loyal friend... who I will see this year! Hey ho
DeleteTake a bow. I wonder what a researcher into Welsh village life in 100 years time will make of it all. Perhaps they will spend a of time with an old dictionary. What is this word kitchen?
ReplyDeleteYou have a great following, because you consistently develop good content, the future belongs to content creators. I have been at it about the same time, and I have just under 300,000 page views.
ReplyDeleteYou are truly a blogging star! ☺️ I remember when you only had about 35 followers -- you have come a long way, and taken me and others to a place that we may never get to visit, but yet feel like we have been there. Thanks for that!
ReplyDeleteI am grateful for your voice.
ReplyDeleteThank you for writing a wonderful blog. Being from the USA, it's interesting to see the similarities of life in a small Welsh village compared to a small suburban town in Ohio. May you continue to be successful in your endeavors. Kudos!
ReplyDeleteYou touch so many with Going Gently, and we are all the better for it. Congratulations and well done, John. You deserve to crow.
ReplyDeletePlease do not denigrate what you do here. It's a beautiful thing and you are loved.
ReplyDeleteI have only just found you a few months ago and i love your sense of humor. Congrats!!!! I just passed ten a few months ago and never thought I would be blogging that long. Did you think you would???
ReplyDeleteIt's all good, isn't it, John? Congratulations!
ReplyDeleteCongrats, John, I sincerely hope you will blog along for at least another 11 years, greetings from Downunder.
ReplyDeleteHuge congratulations. And hopes for at least another eleven years.
ReplyDeleteI’ve only been lurking for several months. I hope you continue for many, many years! You are a breath of fresh air!

Congratulations ! ! !
ReplyDeleteI just went to look at my stats, I never have before. Like you I am shocked .... 7 years blogging with 367,502 views. For me that is huge. That is amazing.
John please keep writing. I am so happy I found your blog.

Congrats on so many years and so many pageviews! Long may you reign!
ReplyDeleteHope you get this John... my comments haven’t been showing for some reason... Congratulations- eleven years is a huge achievement. I love reading of your life and lvillage shenanigans
ReplyDeleteCongratulations. I'm a newer reader but I enjoy my daily visits very much.
ReplyDeleteJ x
John, you open your life to us. I check on you daily. I’ll warm up in the spring. Dark days
ReplyDeleteSome very impressive stats there John, but I couldn't see a green dot over France.
ReplyDeleteAbout 8 or 9 years ago, you commented on the fact that there was a sudden spike in visitors from Germany on your blog. I may or may not have clicked on every single one of your posts back then and read it. 😀
ReplyDeleteCongratulations! It's a fun ride, so far.
ReplyDeleteI started reading Going Gently because the wife was constantly reading bits out to me, so I thought I might as well just read it myself.
ReplyDeleteGlad I did. Congratulations on such longevity!
You are a born storyteller; that's what keeps me coming back. You have a knack for the story twist, the descriptions, the turn of a phrase. Well done on eleven years of blogging and the massive readership!
ReplyDeleteGood on you, John!
ReplyDeleteCongratulations on your beautiful blog John! If shallow means being good, honest and living a kind life then carry on being shallow.
ReplyDeleteGreetings Maria x
Well done, Sir! What this humble reader likes most about your blog (and I suspect that this may be the 'secret' of your success) is that you've got HEART and you show it.
ReplyDeleteYou are a wonderful writer with a great eye for what makes a relatable post, your success is well deserved
ReplyDeleteWell done on those very impressive stats. You have become part of my daily routine. x
ReplyDeleteHappy Blogging Birthday.
ReplyDeleteAfter all the praise above I shall just say.........that's one fifth of your life spent fiddling about on a blog!
Well done you, a lovely achievement. I really enjoy reading your blog, as many others have said already, but you really have a way with words. I have said it before, you should really write a book. Regards Sue H x
ReplyDeleteI don't listen to The Archers but I do nip here every morning with my cup of tea and usually visit later to see if there is another post up. I love hearing about your village.
ReplyDeleteCarry On!
ReplyDelete‘Ooh Matron!’

Not sure how long I have been reading you every day....several years at least I would guess.....please keep going, I love your posts. Would love to meet you and the gang too, but that is unlikely as Harpenden is a long way from N. Wales, so you are probably safe!! Give the dogs a hug from me ( and Albert...and you too !) Maybe I would just shake the Prof's hand as I don't know him so well! X
ReplyDeleteI've been reading you for quite a few years now. Keep up the good work 😊 I'll have to check my stats ... it's fascinating isn't it. I like to see who is reading what at the time I'm checking.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations.
ReplyDeleteYou SHOULD be proud. And nothing small about the life either. A fascinating view of a very special life in a very special part of the world. Thanks and congratulations.
ReplyDeleteYour iPad needs charging. You're down to 8%.
ReplyDeleteSmall histories are important.

Six million hits? Well, I dare say, 555 thousand were generated by yours truly. As they say in the motherland: Chicken poo adds up too.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations, John, not least on account of your stamina and ongoing enthusiasm to share yourself with the world.
Hasta la Vista,
U
Happy I met you well into year ten . . .
ReplyDeleteI was drawn in by “the kids” . . . and
nursing days, bits and bobs, truth, loving tender heart . . . and
authentic to the core . . . have “made my day” since . . .
Charge your laptop, John! :)
ReplyDeleteSeriously, six million hits is pretty impressive. I've been going about ten years and I think I'm well shy of that number. (I'll have to check!)
Congrats John. You should be proud. You have a talent for spinning stories, and drawing people in, making them think and feel. Sometimes in this harsh life we forget to do that and it takes wonderful people like you and your town for us to remember...we are all human. Let's celebrate it!
ReplyDeleteAnd 1103 followers! Yay!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the read, John, and the help, from time to time.
ReplyDeleteYay, John! I hope you keep blogging!
ReplyDeleteCongrats John! It's crazy the way time flies, even my own little blog hit the ten year mark last fall and it feels like I only started it four or five years ago.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations and thank you for letting us into your interesting world.xo
ReplyDeleteI love your blog-I've only recently come across it from lovelygrey's who I found through Meanqueen's.You have a great, fun life & a wonderful family.I luv reading about it-thankyou x

ReplyDeleteSorry, I just saw this post but you should be really proud. Thank you for sharing your ups and downs in small village across the Atlantic. I always enjoy the read. All the best.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations - I have enjoyed many of those years - keep going!!
ReplyDelete6 million! A few of those are me. I can't say that - it makes it sound as though I'm trying to make this about me rather than about you.
ReplyDeleteGlad your blog keeps ticking. You manage a great cross-section of pictures, life events, musings, etc., and it's not easy to get the mix right.
Hope we get 11 more years of it!
Allow me to add to the congratulations John. A good achievement all round.
ReplyDeleteThe Power of One eh?? Well done you - you have a great number of people that really enjoy visiting. Thankyou ((:))
ReplyDeleteI stumbled onto you blog last year I believe. And it has been joy. I wish I lived next door..even if it was just to watch Winnie when you go away.
ReplyDeleteAwesome achievement John long may you reign I have laughed often cried sometimes and want to thank you for your optimism oh I absolutely love the dogs and stories about Albert.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations. I'm not sure if I'm an ex blogger yet but I hardly write now
ReplyDeleteWhile not a blogger myself, I have been following your blog from here in the Arizona desert with great interest. Hope to see it continue for many years to come.
