My days recently have been filled with such waits.
This time its a roofer and he lives in the village, so I know he will turn up
I don't mind these moments as the wait facilitates the completion of those jobs that are often left.
This morning I have cleaned the oven and I am just about to make carrot and tarragon soup
Having a new kitchen means that home waits are now a pleasure .
The roofer arrived on time! I have time to make red pepper and lentil soup too
so, you like your new kitchen? and winnie will have another workman to kiss!
ReplyDeleteMy family would think they were on starvation rations if they were given soup more than once a week and here's you making two batches!
ReplyDeleteRed pepper and lentil sounds fab
It's nice to see that you have now got a small boy to help with kitchen chores. I trust his parents are aware that he's not in school today. While you have got him you should send him up the chimney.
ReplyDeleteI love washing dishes and your sink is perfect; beautiful with a window to look out of. I would come and wash your dishes any day!
ReplyDeleteGreetings Maria x
We have been waiting for before and after pictures of the kitchen:)
ReplyDeleteLovely kitchen shot...it looks a joy to work in...I'm sure you'll be inspired to more than soup, although this is definitely soup weather!
ReplyDeleteThat's spooky, we are having tomato and lentil soup for lunch today. Sounds like you are really enjoying your new kitchen.
ReplyDeleteSoup! Sounds dee-lish!
ReplyDeleteI don't think I can live without a window above my sink. I've been spoiled by the loveliness if it.
ReplyDeleteHave just viewed the meatball video and enjoyed seeing the pack in action and on their best behavior!
Me too .. I am living in a condominium right now .. the entire wall of the living room is glass doors facing a forest . so the view from the kitchen is pretty wonderful.
DeleteSharing recipes is a good way to fill the time too :)
ReplyDeleteIt's so nice to see you being so happy in your new kitchen. Unfortunately when I got a new kitchen it did NOT inspire me to cook more...more's the pity.
ReplyDeleteWe like hanging out in you kitchen as much as you do. It's not snowing out your window.
ReplyDeleteKitchen hours and making vegetarian soup day here too - as we await promised snow! Leek and potato with a carrot or two added for color - very warming on a cold day.
ReplyDeleteLovely pic. Is that SOLD sign at Auntie Glad's house? I have a great view from the window over my kitchen sink too. Makes washing up, if not fun, at least pleasant. My eye catches that your backsplash tiles do not go all the way along under the window to the other side of the counter. Are you awaiting more tiles?
ReplyDeleteYes, it's sold to a couple of local teachers
DeleteReally loving your new kitchen. I've noticed your flat surfaces are wood. How do you care for them? I have this plastic sort of stuff that is chipped and scratched so bad and ugly as hell. Can't afford stone but that wood, now that is something else!
ReplyDeleteIkea says sporadic oiling
DeleteMy husband is in handyman mode these days, tearing out a bathroom and planning the new one he's going to build. Winnie would adore him. He would like her too.
ReplyDeleteAnd your kitchen makes me swoon a bit.
Nice window - perfect for watching! I hope the soup is good.
ReplyDeleteThe pepper and lentil was bloody lovely. The carrot and tarragon was ok
DeleteI am someone who is always 100% punctual, and expect others to be the same..... I shouldn't.
ReplyDeleteMe neither it's bloody infuriating
DeleteIt's such a pleasure to do dishes while looking out a kitchen window right in front of the sink. Glad your worker was punctual!
ReplyDeleteThe previous two never turned up
DeleteWhy do you wash your dishes in a bowl, why not directly in the sink?
ReplyDeleteI've got dyspraxia , I drop things easily so it's there so I don't chip the sink
Deletealso handy if you need the sink quickly for something else...just lift the bowl and dishes out...
DeleteYes, it becomes norm to wait for one another.
ReplyDeleteCan you tell us about the stove in the bottom image? :)
ReplyDeleteWonderful new kitchen. I too live in a condo, and there's nothing charming about staring at a blank wall over the sink. I hung an old fashioned mirror there, and it helps. Your view is lovely.
Absolutely not, it was an image from google x
DeleteChris is a very lucky man. :)
ReplyDeleteI've been making soup. I sent my husband off to work with a container of squash and bean soup, he text while working outside in the freezing cold, "best soup ever " with that praise I will be making more, it had a teaspoon of sweet smoked paprika which gave it the flavour.
ReplyDeleteLet the wife make the husband glad to come home, and let her sorry to see him leave.
DeleteJo in Auckland, NZ
You really are a very competent soup maker John.
ReplyDeleteI am not a good cook & don't concentrate on a recipe but magically my soups are quite nice.I eat them most days with varying consistency & ingredients x
ReplyDeleteI have just found your blog and had a look through.I find it hilarious and mean that only in a complimentary way.I adore your animals they are all so darn cute and I can tell you LOVE them to bits.I love making soup and trying new recipes or making some up.
ReplyDeleteWelcome lee x
DeleteIt’s so nice to have a window at the sink in a cozy kitchen!
ReplyDeleteI've been watching Rick Stein going round Mexico. I really enjoyed watching him cook.
ReplyDeleteMe too!
DeleteHow's your gums?
ReplyDeleteI love those measuring cups in the window!
ReplyDeleteI don't care how early the roofer arrives; there will never be enough time for me to make red pepper and lentil soup.
ReplyDeleteI made split pea and ham. Should have had some cornbread but didn't have the fixins. Darn. Good anyway.
ReplyDeleteA workman - will there be overalls? Winnie will be in 7th Heaven !
