The Last New York Post

Which one's which?

Today we had our final breakfast at Pershing Square then walked most of the way down to Battery Park to catch the Staten Island Ferry( a tradition when we go to New York) it blew away the cobwebs rather nicely before Chinatown and an amble through Little Italy.
I'm writing this on the way to the airport....full of dim sum and the most glorious pork dumplings this side of the Atlantic. Lunch in Chinatown in what could only be described as a " basic cafe Knocked up in someone's garage" was a surprising treat. We found the dumpling house Mistress Maddie suggested going to, only to find it shut, so we ambled down a street which looked as though it had been bombed during WW2 , found the nearest eatery and was promptly sat on a large round table with a family of Chinese locals.
The food couldn't have been better! A wonderful end to a cracking city break!

  4. I can't believe how much you crammed into such a brief visit! Perfect choices and great planning. Wave as you fly by this evening, I am right on the edge of the Atlantic where it suddenly gets dark. Have a good journey home.

  13. For your next city break, try St Asaph. It will be much cheaper and you won't need a passport.

  14. Loved the photos of the two of you on vacation in the big apple. Could see the bonds of relationship between you, the love, stability, irritations and amusements that make a life. You just looked like you were having a ball and enjoying the heck out of one another's company. It's a privilege to be included in a tiny way into your world.

  15. During my visit I went into a place for breakfast where you sat in a row at the counter. I heard other customers ordering using terms like 'eggs sunny-side up' and 'eggs over-easy' and hadn't the foggiest idea what they meant. I asked for two fried eggs, the cook then shout-asking the counter-lady how I wanted them, she grumpily replying "Dunno. He didn't say." I got my eggs but can't remember how they came.

  16. It's always a good idea to eat where the locals do. My daughter learnt to order eggs over easy as can't stand runny eggs. I like them sunny side up but well done but went for over easy too !
    Safe journey home x

  19. I was in New York and then Philadelphia until Weds last week! My first time on a plane, a 50th birthday present from my daughter who came with me. If you ever go to Philadelphia you need to to go Reading Terminal Market for the food. Every kind of world food you can imagine - Heaven! It has been great to see your take on NY.
