That's bigger than I thought, too -- about the size of a city I enjoyed living in for a number of years -- not too big and not too small, with a feel of being part of or knowing all that was going on.
Sheffield is not just the home town of Sean Bean - the great Judy Parfitt was also born and raised there, in a house right opposite the museum. One of our finest actors!!
Bigger place than I would have thought. I hope you are having a great time!
ReplyDelete552,000 people Sharon. It's bigger than Manchester and bigger than Liverpool.
DeleteSheffield....the home of good steel?
ReplyDeleteThe finest cutlery in the world is still made here.
DeleteIt always sounded very industrial to me, so it is good to see lots of trees.
ReplyDeleteSheffield holds a strong claim to be Europe's greenest city with an estimated two million mature trees - four for every resident.

DeleteI know parts of it well. Our eldest daughter was at Uni there and lived there for 10 years. Crookes is very familiar to me.
ReplyDeleteI also lived in Crookes for several years but then we moved to S11.
DeleteI couldn't afford crooked, I lived in walkley and hillsborough
DeleteEldest daughter was in Walkley until she moved this year.
DeleteLove Sheffield! It's one of my nearest cities - just 30mins up the M1 from me.
ReplyDeletePerhaps you live in Kirby in Ashfield or Hucknall? Somewhere like that.
DeleteWorksop ☺
DeleteEnjoy yourself with the friends you are going to see.
ReplyDeleteI loved Sheffield. Had my first scrumpy there. It's been a long, long time.
ReplyDeleteScrumpy? Is that a slang name for a prostitute?
