Terrific thunderstorm this afternoon, with a few of the homes on the lower part of the village briefly getting flooded
We were ok,.........just!

  3. I'm so glad you escaped the worst. This area is still recovering from the floods at the end of 2015 so I worry so much when it rains heavily. X

  4. We had hail at our house last night.
It has rained almost every day this summer.

  6. Wow John...and a river 'almost' ran through it. Thank goodness it let up when it did.

  7. I am glad you are on an incline of a sort ... better to watch it as it flows past than flows in.
I panic when it rains that hard .. especially here in Florida, it is so flat here, water just rises .. time to go back to NY :)

    1. Yes but it was my fault I flooded the kitchen by leaving the taps on then I went out for a walk

  10. Is that why the door sills are raised? Glad you didn't have to deal with a flood on one of your first days in retirement!

We had a powerful rain like that a couple of weeks ago; it was hard to see across the street it was coming down so hard. Had hail mixed in as well.

  12. Retirement starting off with a bang, I see. Been getting flash flood warnings all morning long, here in California, in 98 degree weather.

  13. We're just twenty eight miles from you, and all we got was three minutes of spits and spots!
Could you send some of that rain and hail across to the Wirral please? I really don't want to water the garden again tonight! X

  14. I'd just finished reading about the flooding in Coverack, Cornwall, then turned to your blog. It does seem that the UK is having dreadful weather this summer.
I hope you hadn't got any washing out?

    1. The UK is having a good summer. It is just that we have some big storms and flash flooding.

  16. The filming technique reminded me of "The Blair Witch Project" but there no big pink sausages in that.

  17. It is two minutes past eight here John and it is pitch black outside - I think you have sent your storm North.

  19. When the storm has passed or whenever, it would be lovely if you'd take pictures of your gardens and all your flowers. Please?

Our village on Boxing Day 2015 - it was so high I got wet knickers wading through the water after bailing out a friends house. Glad you weren't too bad - how was the Ukranian village? xx
