I am glad you are on an incline of a sort ... better to watch it as it flows past than flows in. I panic when it rains that hard .. especially here in Florida, it is so flat here, water just rises .. time to go back to NY :)
We're just twenty eight miles from you, and all we got was three minutes of spits and spots! Could you send some of that rain and hail across to the Wirral please? I really don't want to water the garden again tonight! X
I'd just finished reading about the flooding in Coverack, Cornwall, then turned to your blog. It does seem that the UK is having dreadful weather this summer. I hope you hadn't got any washing out?
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XiZYIfdWfa4 Our village on Boxing Day 2015 - it was so high I got wet knickers wading through the water after bailing out a friends house. Glad you weren't too bad - how was the Ukranian village? xx
Crikey John....nearly sandbag time! x
ReplyDeleteTen minutes before it was twice as bad as the video
DeleteOo-er. Did you get the dogs ready to lie across the doorway ?
ReplyDeleteI'm so glad you escaped the worst. This area is still recovering from the floods at the end of 2015 so I worry so much when it rains heavily. X
ReplyDeleteWe had hail at our house last night.
ReplyDeleteIt has rained almost every day this summer.

Wow John...and a river 'almost' ran through it. Thank goodness it let up when it did.

Oh WOW! I miss me some good rain.
ReplyDeleteHave you ever been flooded out, it looks a bit too close for comfort?
ReplyDeleteYes but it was my fault I flooded the kitchen by leaving the taps on then I went out for a walk
DeleteIs that why the door sills are raised? Glad you didn't have to deal with a flood on one of your first days in retirement!
ReplyDeleteWe had a powerful rain like that a couple of weeks ago; it was hard to see across the street it was coming down so hard. Had hail mixed in as well.
The water was 1 cm from the top of that step!
DeleteWales has a good share of rain, but this was tremendous.
ReplyDeleteRetirement starting off with a bang, I see. Been getting flash flood warnings all morning long, here in California, in 98 degree weather.

The UK is having a good summer. It is just that we have some big storms and flash flooding.
DeleteLooks close enough to call in "The Ark!"
ReplyDeleteThe filming technique reminded me of "The Blair Witch Project" but there no big pink sausages in that.
ReplyDeleteOnly in the porn version
DeleteIt is two minutes past eight here John and it is pitch black outside - I think you have sent your storm North.
ReplyDeleteand East.
ReplyDeleteWe got drenched here too, last night -- complete with thunder and lightning!
ReplyDeleteWhen the storm has passed or whenever, it would be lovely if you'd take pictures of your gardens and all your flowers. Please?
ReplyDeleteIt looked rather battered! I will take some as soon as the sun shines

Deletetoo much rain in too short a period of time...water is a very powerful element. glad you remained dry.
ReplyDeleteha! you have waterfront property now.
ReplyDeleteLooks like an Aussie thunder storm. Glad you survived it without water through the house. That's horrible.
ReplyDeleteWow! This is wonderful to watch when it simply floats by. Glad you weren't flooded. Has anyone ever told you what beautiful fingers you have?
