Bed Soon!

Short staffed again at work so, last  night I did an extra shift and will do the same tonight.
Even after a walk all the dogs have decided to play fight, so as I am typing this ( in the bath) I wish I could give the lot of them a dose of ketamine so I can sleep.
Oh for a silent home.....with just the sound of the gale force wind whistling around my gable end
I'm too old for this lark!

  1. Not too old John, just too tired by the sound of it.

  2. Wind whistling around your gable end? Put your trousers back on - there's blizzards coming.

I'm sure you are valued at your work place, so just don't take on extra work. Do your little bit of planned paid work and don't feel guilty when you go home and forget about work and if you can't resist when they call for you to do extra (caller ID?), don't answer the phone. You are better by doing less working hours than getting too tired to work at all by doing extra work.

  6. Great to do extra shifts coming up to retirement!. 😀As you know your pension is based on the best of your last 3 years salary!. Will increase your lump sum too!. Not by a huge amount but as the saying goes every penny helps.xxxxx

  7. Looks like sleet here. When we light the wood burner the dogs all of a sudden quiet down and lay down back to back, basking in the warmth. put the fire on!

  8. I know the feeling, albeit to a lesser extent as we don't have quite the number of animals you have. But pets require a certain amount of attention, and when that need conflicts with our own basic needs, it can be very frustrating! I hope they've calmed down by now and you get some much-needed rest.

  9. I watched "Hospital" on BBC2 last night. It makes me appreciate yet again how resilient nurses and doctors are having to be in the face of endless cost-cutting and staff shortages. How absurd that surgeons have to hang about for hours doing nothing because of a bed shortage!

  11. There comes a time, different for everyone, when nights are just awful. I was fine in my 20s and 30s, but just CANNOT sleep in the day now. Luckily I don't do them anymore, because I am so deaf I can't see to lip read when the lights are low.

  12. Oh John you've got many more years ahead of rambunctious dogs and extra shifts at work. You'll feel better in the morning.

  18. My son had Ketamine in emerg. He burns through it. No sleep there. He just hit on every female with a pulse, much to the amusement of my coworkers.

Rest up! Those extra shifts are energy sappers.

  19. I know you would hate a silent house, John. That's what I have now, after losing my Zac, and it's awful.

  20. I say the same thing to myself as I haul my old lady arse out of bed at 7.15am each day. Have a restful weekend.
