My most favorite by a long shot. I adored when the aborigines join the gang and it was so sweet and prophetic I would like to think. Thank you, I needed a smile and a sweet memory today. Particularly today.
The fabulous Charlene! A tacky song to treasure, and of course one always thinks of it when given the opportunity (rarer now, alas, than in days gone by) to sip Champagne on a yacht...
Only seen the film once, at the cinema when it was first released. I thought it had happily impressed itself indelibly on my memory but had totally forgotten this opening song. Include me along with the thumbs-uppers.
One of my all-time favorite movie moments! I remember hearing this song in the early '80s, when it was a hit, and thinking even THEN that it was campy as all get-out.
Best line in a movie ever - 'That's just what this country needs, a cock in a frock on a rock'. Was lucky enough to see Jason Donavon as Tic at Bristol Hippodrome.
It runs on TV here a couple of times a year and I am yet to see the entire film in one sitting. I've caught the middle and had to go out, saw the end, and once saw the first ten minutes before I lost control of the TV
I always hated that song!
ReplyDeleteI love it! It's as cheesy as the cheesiest double cheese burger
DeleteIt is a whole lotta cheese, and, sometimes, cheese is good!

I used to have a crush on Terence Stamp....
I might still have a crush on Terence Stamp :)

ReplyDeleteGreat movie.
ReplyDeleteScene that sticks in my mind is the dolled-up Guy Pierce in that video store asking for the "Texas Chain Saw Mascara"
Great film, although I kept expecting Hugo Weaving to slip on dark glasses and say "Mr Anderson... we've missed you".
ReplyDeleteI was thinking about this film the other day and how I should watch it again. Now I see this on your blog. Must be a sign!
